Here, we will see what the ranking system in Shen Yin Wang Zuo is in depth.

The most important factor for determining one’s overall strength is his spiritual energy level. The higher it is, the stronger the person will be, and the higher he will be graded, in terms of step and rank of his vocation.

More precisely, the higher one’s step is (up to the 9th, ultimate step), the more powerful he is in terms of overall power, and the higher one’s rank is, the more powerful he is compared to those of the same step.

Of course this is merely the power brought by the spiritual energy and there are other factors, like the ‘Spiritual Stoves’ that enable one to use additional and specific abilities, or the ‘mental strength/capacity’ that greatly contributes, for a knight, to his growth and increases the power of his abilities related to the holy element together with the grasp his has on the Ten Standards of a Knight.

Here are the details we already know about the ranking system of knights:
there are ten ranks for each of the nine steps, and a rank is reached when one reaches the required spiritual energy level for it.

n) Step N
SE: rank1, rank2, rank3, rank4, rank5, rank6, rank7, rank8, rank9, rank10

for magical beasts the rank n is equivalent to a human step n-1. Ex: a magical beast of rank 6 has the strength of a human or demon powerhouse of step 5

Details:

1) Knight Squire
SE: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100
2) Standard Knight – Choice: Guardian Knight or Retribution Knight
SE: 101-110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 190, 200
3) Genuine Knight
SE: 201-210, 240, 270, 300, 330, 360, 390, 420, 450, 500
4) Grand Knight
SE: 501, 550, 700, 850, 1150, 1300, 1450, 1600, 1750, 2000
5) Earth Knight
SE: 2001, 2100, 2300, 2500, 2700, 2900, 3100, 3300, 3500, 3700, 4000
6) Radiant Knight
SE: 4001 (…) 10000
7) Temple Knight
SE: 10001 (…) 30000
8) Saint Knight
SE: 30001 (…) 99999
9) Divine Knight
SE: 100001 (…) 999999
10) 1,000,000
If IISE >= 90, ascends to a god’s level. Otherwise???

Note: When one reaches the last rank of his step (100, 200, 500…), an examination is required to pass, to be officially recognized as a knight of the next step.

Notes: the SE levels above are a person’s own SE levels, that means, without any magical equipments, with equipments the rank will still be the same even though that person has the potential of higher ranks. Example #3: If a Knight with SE level of 750 (Grand Knight 2nd rank) is wearing a SE level 200 armor, his total SE will be 950, but his SE level will still be Grand Knight 2nd rank, only his potential will be that of Grand Knight 3rd rank. It’s like your MP + your equipments’ MP = your total MP in a game.

For other vocations, the spiritual energy level required to raise one’s step and rank are probably similar, but the names of the steps differ.

    • Yeah, you’r right :D, but since it changes constantly, I’d have to constantly modify them if I added exemples to the page

        example:
        Chapter 36: LHC(GE -268), others
        Chapter 37: LHC(GK -1000+), others
        Chapter 38: …
        if it gets too tidious, ill try helping you

    I have a question.The higher the spiritual energy , the stronger the person will be. Then why did Hao Chen use a spiritual stove if it decreases his spiritual energy level?

    • It created him a new ability, so I guess this was a ‘price to pay’. If there was no price to pay to use spiritual stoves, everyone would use 1xx ones and become simply OP, right?

      I think of it as “You have 7 skill slots. Spiritual Stove takes up 3 skill slots. Each skill slot passively increases your stats. Spiritual Stove can evolve. Choose wisely.”

      In the long run the Spiritual Stove gives more bonuses, but the cost seems rather high too.

      His father did say that his spiritual energy will drop whenever you get a stove. This happens because the stove and the body have to sync up. Then the spiritual energy that was ‘lost’ will return. This takes anywhere from one month to three.

    Is grand knight 1000-2000? And earth knight 2000-4000?
    Is there not a gap then between 500-1000?
    Divine knight is 10000+ as well?

    So bit confused on one matter as they often dont talk about both or ever went into a singular detailed description of the difference but!

    Basically there are 3 measures of spiritual energy from what i understand innate which is sort of one’s baseline talent/affinity/ability to grow and is more or less set in stone (save for the current case of the light elemental fairy and the saint stove of samsara) but if i’m mistaken on any point here, would some one mind clarifying for me?

    The second being internal spiritual energy, to which i’m not too clear on, is this what becomes liquid when one hits the 5th step?

    Which leads me to the last one external spiritual energy, i’m guessing internal is a qi/ki type energy and is what’s actually cultivated and measured (main reason why im asking cause im not too clear on which gets measured tbh) where as external is like a measure of actual physical prowess? (this part is a question)

    Anyways thanks ahead of time to any one who can specifically clarify this for me.

      Hi, well you raise a good and indeed a little confusing point. I am not 100% sure that my understanding is right, but I can at least give it a try.

      As you assumed the innate internal spiritual energy is the potential for the development of a person. It is a figure you are born with (e.g. Cai’er: 93) but which can be influenced by some elements like Spiritual Stoves. It gives a general outlook on the future of a person and the level they can reach. Although we learn throughout the story that it is not set in stone. (I will not say more to not spoil anyone.)

      The internal spiritual engergy is the power needed to activate magic or special abilities. If it is depleted one becomes unable to fight and feels weak. It can be increased through training and changes forms during different steps of development (solid->liquid->gaseous). As far as i understood the situation, this is the figure measured to determine the level of a person.

      The external spiritual energy is the one we learn the least about. I think the only time something is explained about it, is the time Long Xingyu teaches Haochen. There is a relation between internal and external spiritual energy, ye,t to be sure about the details I would need to reread this part. But it is something body-related that is comparable to a kind of stamina. A high external spiritual energy enables a person to move faster and to be stronger, so I think your comparison with physical prowess is a good one. I am not sure if it can be measured like the internal spiritual energy.

        I was really confused when Long Xinyu explained it… From what I understood an external energy only reaches upto 200 then by Chapter 400 there were many accounts of people and demons having 1000+, there’s also BigBroDugs’ pill that increases External Energy by 500… Is that permanent or just temporarily?

    After Divine Knight are there no more? Like on the 500,000 level to reach something like Demigod Knight, or maybe Sovereign Knight? I mean a qualitative change, after all that many thousands of energy only mean a change on the overall power, of course, thinking no one has ever reached 500,000 on the side of the humans.
