Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 402

Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 402: Sword Intent, Sword Heart, Technique in the Sword (I)

During this battle against Ah’Bao, Long Haochen was different from the time he was up against the Jacques Chief of the eighth step. That time, he acted as the leader of a team, who shouldered the responsibility of saving another Demon Hunt Squad. Thus, he had to inflict the most serious damage possible to the enemy in the shortest time he could. This was also the reason why he didn’t hesitate to enter a weakened state by fusing with Haoyue and Yating, to reach his most powerful state and launch powerful and unyielding attacks against the enemy.

But the current situation was different. First of all, Ah’Bao’s strength was incomparable to the Jacques Chief, and even if Long Haochen was to fuse with Haoyue, killing him in a limited time wouldn’t be feasible. Thus, Long Haochen had to rely on the antique battle techniques acquired in the Tower of Eternity, as well as the sword intent from the Aria of the Goddess of Light.

Due to being a god’s chosen one, and his one year of secluded training, Long Haochen got to truly fuse these two things as one, and by now, his strength was absolutely not measurable only with his amount of spiritual energy. He knew clearly that if he really wanted to have the opportunity to win against Ah’Bao, he would need to make use of all his sword intent, sword heart and technique in the sword.

At the time Long Haochen’s first attack was launched; he already gave no thought to life or death, disregarding all the outside world. In his eyes and heart appeared only one target. His sword heart was brightly lit, and his sword intent became one with the environment. His body and sword moved as he wished, simply attacking the opponent, and giving off an impression of having the ability to turn things around. With the addition of the divine sword Aria of the Goddess of Light, his two sword strikes in a row actually compelled Ah’Bao back.

However, Ah’Bao was after all not the same as back in the Illusory Paradise either. At that time, Ah’Bao had been greatly suppressed by the rules of the Illusory Paradise and could only use a total of ten thousand units of internal spiritual energy. Moreover, everything Long Haochen did then, had gained him the benevolence of the Illusory Paradise, and thus enabled him to suppress Ah’Bao. But now, the one he was confronting was Ah’Bao in his most powerful state, who had gained a lot from the painful experience, once again making him all the stronger.

The second time he drew back, Ah’Bao was already launching a counterattack. His left foot stamped hard onto the ground, producing fierce exploding sounds, as waves of darkness spiritual energy gushed out. As Long Haochen attacked once again, his third lightning fast sword strike hit that purple colored pillar, and the Aria of the Goddess of Light ended up being repelled by that purplish black light.

It was a heavy blow, that didn’t contain any adornments. With a shout of fury, Ah’Bao swung the heavy sword in his right hand brazenly. Under everyone’s attention, that purplish black pillar of light actually surrounded his heavy sword, turning into a ten meter long sword tip, which aimed straight at Long Haochen.

Meanwhile, in a radius of thirty meters around them, all the air was instantly filled with a stagnating darkness spiritual energy, preventing Long Haochen from redrawing to escape, while delaying his movements greatly.

As the demons’ crown prince, Ah’Bao’s genius wasn’t much inferior to Long Haochen’s, but at the time Long Haochen launched his first attack, he actually figured that in terms of battle technique, he was already no match for this human. However, the technical aspect wasn’t a synonym for victory on the battlefield.

Although Ah’Bao was powerful, that didn’t made him inflexible. Challenging the enemy in his strong areas was something he wouldn’t risk doing. Long Haochen had the upper hand on sword intent, sword heart, and technical prowesses, but Ah’Bao’s advantage was even more distinct, because his spiritual energy exceeded Long Haochen’s by tenfold.

Long Haochen’s steps suddenly halted, and his knees bent while unloading all the momentum of stopping his charge. He let go of the Rippling Light in his left hand, directly dropping it to the ground. Grasping the Aria of the Goddess of Light with both hands, he showed an astonishing move.

Twisting his body, he straightened his posture and swung the divine sword. His senses already exceeded the level of being natural and unforced, more accurately, he reached a perfect harmony between his body and his sword. Emitting a dark golden glow from the tip of his feet that spread up, the sharp point of the Aria of the Goddess of Light finally condensed, bursting out with soft light that dexterously clashed against that purplish black sword tip.

No, calling that a clash was not suited; it should rather be called a contact. Meanwhile, Long Haochen’s body followed the movement of his sword, tracing a perfect curve of 360 degrees. More fantastically, he let Ah’Bao’s tyrannical attacks actually push him to the side, giving his formidable fighting strength no opportunity to act against him.

Right at this time, Long Haochen suddenly flapped the four wings on his back, looking the same as a swimming fish rushing forward, and remained close to the ground. Doing another movement upwards with his left foot, he retrieved the Rippling Light to his hand, wielding two swords again as he almost instantly came back face to face with Ah’Bao.

During the course of Long Haochen’s rush forward, the shattered space scattered from within, and burst out with an incomparably concentrated sword intent, actually passing through the strongly compressed space. A low dragon cry instantly rang out, and dark golden flames vigorously covered him as he glided. During this time, Long Haochen’s imposing manner reached its peak.

Bang!

Ah’Bao’s terrifying sword struck the ground, immersing the surroundings in a purplish black color as the violent explosion hit. The exploding and splitting sounds it produced sounded the same as a crying demon, shaking the earth and causing terrible damage.

Right at this time, Long Haochen arrived in front of Ah’Bao, and his entire body swept at Ah’Bao like a tornado.

If someone clearly watched Long Haochen’s movements, they would distinctly see that the Rippling Light in his left hand pierced forward, launching a myriad of sword tips uniting instantly as one. The strike aimed at Ah’Bao’s wrist that was holding his sword. And the Aria of the Goddess of Light in his right hand stuck close to the ground, releasing a terrible golden laser beam while carrying a sound of dragon cry as it struck against the opponent. And furthermore, that laser wasn’t big in size, on the opposite, it was somewhat smaller than the blade of light emitted by the Aria of the Goddess of Light. Its color was completely dark golden, yet looked the same as a substantial thing.

Ah’Bao’s appreciation of Long Haochen was already very high, but in his heart, that opponent was still no more than a human knight not even reaching the seventh step. Never did he expect his own tyrannical blow to actually be neutralized by Long Haochen’s indirect methods, and that he would immediately counterattack against him.

The timing for Long Haochen’s strike was chosen extremely well, aiming right at the short delay after Ah’Bao’s full strength launch of power. And furthermore, his sword speed was terrifying, as if not affected in the slightest by the burst of the purplish black sword.

Long Haochen was using Ascending Dragon Strike with the Aria of the Goddess of Light, but the ability wasn’t aimed upwards, but forward.

Along with the increase of his cultivation, his use of the usual knight abilities already reached a new boundary, completely throwing off the restrictions of the abilities themselves. It could be said that every single ability could contain some creativeness in his hand.

With a faint flicker of light, Long Haochen’s eyes let out sparkles, and his Foundation Mythril Armor exuded some intense dark golden color. If was as if a thick golden liquid was stuck on the surface of his armor.

Facing Long Haochen’s dual sword attack, Ah’Bao didn’t show any sign of attacking. But his combat experience was plentiful enough that even in such a disadvantageous situation, he actually made a proper decision, and abandoned his sword.

The distance separating Long Haochen and him was already too small, and his purplish black gigantic sword was quite larger than Long Haochen’s Aria of the Goddess of Light. Therefore, right after launching a full power attack, he basically didn’t have the time to return it to his side, which turned his advantage into a handicap.

He hastily let go of his sword as he leaned backwards. Instantly,, his left hand clashed violently against the Rippling Light, as his right hand formed a fist that directly smashed backward, striking against the blade of light released by the Aria of the Goddess of Light.

With a puff sound, Ah’Bao’s left hand thrust against the Rippling Light that produced slight ripples. He swept it away, but that heavy sword of the Glorious Tier combined thousand strikes into one while carrying the power of Demon Wiping Flash! It left a bloody trace on Ah’Bao’s left hand.

As Long Haochen’s self-created technique Ripples of Light was displayed in combination with the uniting of thousand sword strikes into one, even with Ah’Bao’s external spiritual energy reaching a level of a few dozens of thousand units, he couldn’t completely resist against it.

At the same time, a clash occurred on the other side. Without any explosion, Ah’Bao’s fist clashed against the Aria of the Goddess of Light, and he suddenly found out to his greatest shock that his strength somehow felt empty.

In fact, during the previous altercation, Long Haochen’s Aria of the Goddess of Light felt able to possibly threaten his life. Thus, his punch was already using his whole strength.

Yet the instant his punch and the sword collided with each other, Ah’Bao only felt that a part of the strength of his fist was forcibly absorbed by the magnificent dark golden sword in Long Haochen’s hand, and it was a very great part of it. Afterwards, Long Haochen summersaulted with the help of the momentum, and thereby absorbed the rest of the strength of that fist. As the dark golden radiance suddenly vanished, Long Haochen’s body was already revolving at great speed like a vortex tearing everything away.

Actually, when Ah’Bao responded to Long Haochen’s attack, he was already fooled to think Long Haochen was trying to face him head-on. He was lured into responding to the attacks of both swords with both of his hands. In other words, Long Haochen’s dual swords were aiming for a crossed attack, and after the clash, he used the momentum for a spiraling motion, not aiming at all to clash with Ah’Bao’s monstrous power. Borrowing power from his all-out efforts was enough.

Condemning Revolving Sword!

Or rather, this should be called an evolved Condemning Revolving Sword.

Until now, Long Haochen’s sword intent was breaking out in all direction, spreading over the whole battlefield, surge after surge. Be it the demons or the humans, when seeing this battle, everyone looked lifeless. Even Long Haochen’s comrades wore expressions of disbelief.

damn love how detailed tjss keeps these fights

    • Robin

It really is amazingly detailed. Never before have I learned so much about battle vocab… 😉

      • Jonathan Hurd

Gotta say I love the combat descriptions after they trained with flame Sensei. The way the author describes LHC twisting and turning to dodge things is pretty fun to read.

        • Robin

Yeah, it is. But when he twists too much, it sometimes is difficult to put it in the right words to make sense of all the action.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I believe in Toto and you, :D. You can do it!

          • Robin

Thanks for your trust and encouragement. I love a good battle as well! 😀

  • RyokoZero

Ah bao better be pushing daisies after this fight or LHC will create a monster of a rival.

Peak of the 6th and handling a peak of the 8th like its nothing. The gap in power closed by skill and gear he shouldnt have… But totally deserves.

Ah bao better be pushing daisies after this fight or LHC will create a monster of a rival.

Peak of the 6th and handling a peak of the 8th like its nothing. The gap in power closed by skill and gear he shouldnt have… But totally deserves.

    • Jonathan Hurd

Honestly its easier for LHC to break through and gain in the 7th step than it is for Ah’Bao to get to the 9th step. Add in that this is LHC holding back O.o. He doesn’t have the back up of Hao Yue or any of his teammates. Honestly Ah’Bao needs LHC to be pushing daisies this is over because if LHC gets away now then there is going to be no chance for him to ever win in the future.

Also if LHC can do this well against a peaked 8th stepper with that many handicaps…. God I am looking forward to the fight against the 72nd DG.

      • Kaarme

It seems to me Ah’Bao hasn’t yet used the really big guns using ridiculous amounts of spiritual energy. But then again, he is facing the problem of not being able to hit Haochen, so the energy could be wasted. Still, if he can use his reserves to defend successfully, Haochen will be the one running out of juice first, and Ah’Bao could simply pound Haochen down using his fists.

        • Jonathan Hurd

The only problem I can see with waiting for LHC to run out of gas is that LHC has ridiculous Spiritual Energy regeneration. With his spiritual cavities, the Eternal Melody, Yating, and this Mythril Foundation Armor I feel like LHC’S Regen will massively out pace his use. Add to that how efficiently he is using everything and how dangerous his attacks are I don’t think Ah’Bao can afford a battle of attrition.

Ah’Bao also tried to hit with a full concentration of his energy in that last attack, but was completely dodged by LHC. So I would say even with the massive power difference. As long as LHC can dodge so efficiently and never take the full brunt of the attacks. The one who will lose in a attrition battle surprisingly could be Ah’Bao.

          • Kaarme

Hard to say. Haochen needs to give his all to even scratch Ah’Bao’s natural defences. If Haochen is all the time using big attacks, can his regen really keep up with the consumption? It hasn’t been like that before. In pretty much all the bigger battles so far, Haochen has become worried about his reserves or at least calculated which skills he can afford to use and how many times. Naturally he has calculated correctly.

          • Marko Bandur

I dnt think so, condemning revolving sword with aria can treath ah bao 25k/30k external spiritual energy, considering that this ability borrows the strenght of the opponent, also lhc and his team have upgraded theyre own external spiritual energy, we dnt know at which level the ESE of LHC is, but adding that, is ISE, the sword, and the strenght of Ah’Bao, he can wound him seriously, not killing, but for sure he can threath him

Remember that demons dnt have armor or equipment at the level of humans, and our main char is a super lucky guy with equipment

          • Kaarme

And how many times can he pull off this particular technique? In the end Ah’Bao can just jump back to avoid some of the damage. It’s not like HaoChen can revolve infinitely and chase him in that form like a helicopter chases James Bond. In fact HaoChen shouldn’t even see anything from the outside world when using that particular technique. I don’t see why Ah’Bao would fall for it for a second time either.

Ah’Bao was training and cultivating the whole time as well. The only thing he’s lacking and falling behind in is indeed the equipment. But on the other hand he’s a bloody demon dragon. Dragon>human.

          • Jonathan Hurd

So the big thing about the Revolving Condemning Sword is its fluidity. Ah’Bao can try and jump back but the swing is still coming at him. Therefore he is going to have to repel it. After you repel it LHC uses that force to further increase his momentum. That means the next slash needs even more power to repel. The cycle continues.

LHC jumped him with this and he has never shown Ah’Bao this technique. Going by the similar skill that we have seen Tang San use, in the authors novel Combat Continent, the weakest moment for this attack is the start. The problem is if you don’t realize this and stop it when the thing starts it is almost impossible to escape from the attacks range because it is a continuous chain of attacks. After one attack ends the other is coming at you faster.

A hope Ah’Bao could have is to break it like the Giant Dual Bladed demon did way back, by having just way more energy than LHC does. The problem with pulling that off though is LHC has advanced his techniques to a much farther field than that time and is using a much sharper blade. So he should be concerned if he can break the Revolving Condemning Sword before it breaks him.

The biggest problem of all for Ah’Bao though is that the Revolving Condemning Sword doesn’t really draw on LHC’s power but his opponents. So if Ah’Bao is forced to use a great deal of power to break the attacks it all comes out mostly costing him. Its as LHC’s dad said before ‘This is a technique for the weak to fight the strong’.

          • Kaarme

“The biggest problem of all for Ah’Bao though is that the Revolving
Condemning Sword doesn’t really draw on LHC’s power but his opponents.”

I can accept that being true for the beginning (when the opponent hasn’t realised it), but if Ah’Bao doesn’t foolishly try to stop it half-assedly, there’s no way for Haochen to gain anything from Ah’Bao and he’s going to need to burn his own energy like a helicopter burns its fuel. Ah’Bao should be a lot smarter than any demon Haochen has needed to defeat so far. He’s the next emperor.

Well, we already saw that a demon hunter squad that remained alive long enough to reach the King grade and possessed mithril armor fell for Ah’Bao’s trap hook, line, and sinker. So, Ah’Bao is a lot smarter than some high level humans.

          • Marko Bandur

Im not saying that Ah’Bao won’t stop the techinique, im saying that he will get wounded, how much we dnt know, but considering that, the fight will change his peace coz of that technique, now the things that matters is how fast Ah’ Bao will stop LHC, and how much energy and wounds this technique wwill cost him
For now, even if he dnt underestimeted LHC too much, and was careful, sometimes, u just need to go all out till the start vs some kind of opponent, Ah’ Bao is considering higly LHC(like the author let us notice a lot of times) but still not enough coz he is a simple human at the peack pf the 6th step, so, in the end, just a human above the avarege, this was the mistake on Ah’Bao side, and thats the result…
This techniwue will cost him greatly, thats all

          • Kaarme

He already did wound Ah’Bao. That’s not the issue. What I’m trying to say is that he still needs to use his bigger techniques to wound Ah’Bao, and he can’t possibly use them infinitely with the equally big spiritual energy/stamina consumption. The sword intent ought to drain him mentally if not physically as well, or otherwise Haochen could walk through the whole demon empire destroying armies and cutting mountains in half never breaking a sweat. It sounds like a concentration thing. It’s only so long you can keep up an extreme concentration.

If a human can beat a dragon in a match of stamina and strength not relying on skills and wits, I’m going to drop this show like a rock. Fortunately it looks like Haochen indeed is trying to end this as fast as he can, so he knows the same thing.

          • Marko Bandur

I still dnt get what u mean by differnce from human and dragon on that specific individual
Some chapter ago, was explained that the demon god emperor, and also his successor( so Ah’ Bao) are the ruler of the demon precisely because theyre different from theyre kind, coz they start with and internal spiritual energy of the lowest grade(1st step of cultivation), and they are bound to become steonger precisely because theyre cultivation process is identical with the humans one
The point is that demons of the avarage class, are higer level compared to humas of the avarege classes, and theyre number is far from the human population, thats way exist this war
But on the cultivation axpect, human have the best opportunity to grow because is boundless, DGE is like a human but with an increased lifespam, thats why the actual DGE is so freaking strong, but Ah’Bao, at 30years old, its still not a 9th step, he is inferior to LHC on the axpect of talent

          • Kaarme

The fact the demon dragons start weak and are forced to cultivate up ought to be relative to demons only. It makes no sense a demon dragon of a certain age would be absolutely as weak as a human of comparable age. Their physique is different. If it wasn’t, they would be humans, not demon dragons. Also, they couldn’t be fighting without equipment similar to humans, which also means they would have that equipment. Since they don’t, they generally don’t need it (to beat other demons or humans).

DGE is absolutely not just a human with increased lifespan. That’s a ridiculous statement. If he was like that, the top demon hunter squads would slaughter the emperor of the demons every generation no questions asked.

          • Marko Bandur

Not demon dragons, just the dge and his successors, other demon dragon r like other demons, so theyll born at 7th step+

          • Robin

I think it is easier to look at Ah’Bao’s high external spiritual energy as something like an armor. It makes him stronger and hard to injure. He may also not have equipment in the same sense as Haochen, but the black scales covering his skin count for me as a natrual given layer of protection. Add in the horn of a devil dragon he uses as a sword, then you have them almost evenly matched regarding armor and sword. What makes a difference is mostly technique and internal spiritual energy. Ah’Bao outclasses Haochen by a wide margin with his ISE, but Haochen has the superior technique. This is what makes this fight really interesting.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I would also say that we have seen LHC pierce Ah’Bao’s armor with normal strikes. Revolving Condemning Sword allows LHC to surpass his own limits and borrow from his opponents. Add in the improvement of skill LHC has gotten since last use. If he can continuously concentrate attacks in the same places there is no way Ah’Bao makes it out uninjured.

          • Robin

His borrowing of the opponent’s strength and at the same time evading his strikes by being flexible is also a key point. Instead of rigidly resisting an attack or even countering it, he is like bamboo in the wind and flexibly follows the flow of strength. I am sure Ah’Bao, living in a world where absolute strength dominates everything, never met an opponent like this.

          • Jonathan Hurd

The big thing about the previous big battles was in each of those there were a few factors that were different from this battle. The first was that all the other big war battles weren’t duels like this one. LHC needed to end those quickly so he could turn to the next opponent or before the opponent got reinforcements. The second thing is he hadn’t spent years being trained personally by Elux’s Tower.

The third thing would be that thanks to the training he got from Elux’s Tower he can now move more efficiently and better handle attacks. So LHC doesn’t have to meet power versus power as much as he did before since he has learned to dodge so fluidly.

The fourth part is the gains LHC has gotten from the Aria of the Goddess of Light. He now is able to use power that is separate but even more potent than his Spiritual Energy in the form of Sword Intent. The Aria of the Goddess of Light is a better blade for a prolonged fight than Blue Rain, Hibiscus of Light was because BRHL’s big skill consumed tons of Spiritual Energy and disarmed him of it. AGL on the other hand is helping him to greatly focus and amplify his power giving him the benefit of less is more in this fight instead of forcing LHC to rely on one decisive blow.

The last and biggest difference would be he hadn’t fully awakened as a Gods chosen or been equipped with a Mythril Foundation Armor at the time of all the other big battles. With all these advantages LHC has the skills, time, and is free from distractions allowing him to take on Ah’Bao at a level he has never before reached.

The last part I would say is that while it is indeed true that LHC has to output a lot of power to get damage on Ah’Bao. If he hits the right places the small little slashes could create critical damage. Ah’Bao is obviously worse off skill and technique wise. So the longer the battle goes LHC will find more opportunities to do that.
