Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 286

Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 286: Moon Demon of the Eighth Step VS Radiant Haochen (II)

Bang.

A glowing golden flame suddenly burst forth from Long Haochen’s body, filled with an intense light that was even enough to make the Moon Demon look sluggish. This was because he discovered that although this human knight was a lot weaker than him, the light element he released was a lot more intense than his own darkness element. But how could this be possible? Wasn’t he from the most noble Moon Clan?!

Flames didn’t only burst out from Long Haochen’s body alone, but different colored flames erupted from the bodies of his six comrades.

Cai’er’s body was lit in a grey flame, Lin Xin’s in a red flame, Sima Xian’s and Han Yu’s in golden flames, Wang Yuanyuan’s in a silver flame and Chen Ying’er’s in a transparent white flame.

As if they were propelled to a single target, the six different flames instantly merged together, entering Long Haochen’s body.

At this very moment, a purple figure suddenly nudged the side of Long Haochen’s body. A resonant dragon cry immediately broke out from his body, its might causing even the Moon Demon at the eighth step to unconsciously take a step back, looking bewildered at the sight of the entirely golden Long Haochen.

How could this happen? Why do I feel a threat from him, and moreover such a powerful one…

Conjoined Spiritual Boosting Pills enabled the users to gather their spiritual energy in a single person’s body by using the magic core crystals of Grand Fiends as material. Each Conjoined Spiritual Boosting Pill needed an entire Grand Fiend crystal, as well as many other materials to be successfully created. As Lin Xin’s newest creation, the twenty first general grade Demon Hunt Squad had only two batches of them and no more. And this was the first time it was ever used.

Facing the Moon Demon at the eighth step, Long Haochen didn’t have time for sentimentality, which would have been misplaced and furthermore probably completely useless at this time.

The current Long Haochen didn’t only get the boost from the Conjoined Spiritual Boosting Pills, but also fused with Haoyue.

At the time the Conjoined Spiritual Boosting Pills caused six massive gulps of spiritual energy to enter his own body, Long Haochen felt that his recently condensed spiritual cavities burst forth with a terrifying amount of spiritual energy. Even with the boost from the Energetical Pill, his body was still unable to bear it. In fact, he had already taken a total of four pills, and had just recently broken through to the sixth step of cultivation, therefore, his cultivation was still unstable. The spiritual energy attacking him from inside his body almost caused him to collapse. After all, those Conjoined Spiritual Boosting Pills were only created based on theory, and couldn’t be tested prior to their use on the battlefield due to their high production cost.

At this crucial time, a very familiar energy entered Long Haochen’s body. Its presence caused him to feel his whole body bursting with warmth, before immediately gathering the spiritual energy that was in disorder in his body. After fusing with it, as a whole, his spiritual energy was still as massive as before, but it wasn’t as uncontrollable anymore. Instead, it mellowed a lot until it was entirely under his control.

Without a doubt, this familiar energy came from Haoyue, and because of their fusion, Long Haochen finally managed to control the terrifying spiritual energy amassing within him.

Everyone in the 21st Demon Hunt Squad had surpassed the 3,000th level of spiritual energy, and adding the spiritual energy of Long Haochen, who reached an amount of over 4,000, their total amount of spiritual energy was already above 20,000. This equaled the cultivation level corresponding to the eighth step!

Unfortunately, Long Haochen was still at the sixth step of cultivation, and visibly didn’t reach the realm of the eighth step himself. But even so, after his fusion with Haoyue, he alone still gained strength comparable to the peak of the seventh step. His spiritual energy expanded violently, and, added to the combined power, raised the total of their spiritual energy to a level already approaching 30,000.

The wings of the current Long Haochen doubled in size, reaching three meters length each. They spread even wider, and each feather distinctly came to life. On some, a new golden symbol appeared. Conversely, their radiance weakened, but a profound change transmogrified his pair of wings, and his whole body almost became transparent. This was the effect from the use of the Brilliant Body possessed by Temple Knights of the seventh step. And since he gained strength at the peak level of the seventh step, he was able to exhibit a complete Brilliant Body.

On his forehead, nine dazzling purple symbols appeared, and a purple glint could be seen on his spiritual wings’ feathers. This was visibly an effect from the fusion with Haoyue.

“Han Yu, pass me the sword!” Long Haochen shouted loudly, and immediately stepped forward, appearing like a bolt of lightning in the sky. His dazzling figure appeared in front of the Moon Demon in the very next instant.

At his back was a golden glint appeared, which was caught by Long Haochen with ease. It was Bright Discipline.

The current Long Haochen could be said to be the team’s absolute hidden trump. Nevertheless, the Conjoined Spiritual Boosting Pills would only last for thirty seconds. Considering the strong boost of his spiritual energy, there would be no problem resisting the Moon Demon’s attacks for thirty seconds, but what would happen after that? Therefore, Haochen currently didn’t think that acting as a Guardian Knight would be the appropriate choice, and easily switched to his role as Retribution Knight.

From both of his hands, Demon Wiping Flash suddenly burst out, filling the air with a brilliant aura. At the same time, Long Haochen’s spiritual energy was saturated with intense killing intent.

The Light Elemental Fairy Yating floated above his shoulder, her chant reverberating even louder. She didn’t make use of any supportive spells, instead focusing all her chants on offensive spells to boost Long Haochen’s power.

Blue Rain, Hibiscus of Light transformed into a myriad of bolts of light and water, and Bright Discipline turned sparkling red, containing a highly concentrated sunlight fire. The two different swords released the same Demon Wiping Flash, breaking out with ear-piercing hissing sounds just like back in the Desolate Cavern.

In front of Long Haochen’s imposing counterattack, the Moon Demon at the eighth step didn’t dare act carelessly. His two hands let out complex dark purple-colored symbols, completely taking the shape of a dark purple wall to block the Demon Wiping Flashes’ attacks.

However, along with the boost from Brilliant Body, the firepower of Long Haochen’s Demon Wiping Flash increased by a terrifying amount. In the midst of the hissing sounds, the Moon Demon realized to his shock that a little hole had appeared in his defense. The attack hit his body sharply and felt like a series of stings.

“You’re looking for death!” The Moon Demon shouted with fury, his body also taking on a transparent dark purple-color. He used Brilliant Body in combination with Body of Darkness, releasing it with a lot more ease than Long Haochen did before.

The two hands putting its palms together, a dark purple curved moon rose at his back, whereas the magic wall in front of him extended suddenly, smashing into Long Haochen’s two Demon Wiping Flashes.

However, at the same time, a red glint instantly fell on him, giving this Moon Demon at the eighth step a red shine. It was the Retribution Knight ability Lock.

Immediately, Long Haochen’s body engulfed the surroundings like a hurricane, rapidly spinning around lit with a glaring red light. In his right hand, Blue Rain, Hibiscus of Light rushed forth like a bolt of lightning.

This growing sword of the light and water dual-element immediately released two dragon cries to resound in the air. They twirled and aimed for the Moon Demon like two angry dragons ready to bite.

Thirty seconds were a really short amount of time, so Long Haochen chose to go berserk with an absolutely frantic attack.

Only this way could he bring out the full effect of the Conjoined Spiritual Boosting Pill.

Lock on, Sacrifice and Last Gambit were used along with Bright Rain – Thrusting Hibiscus. These four abilities were all used together at the same time.

Though Long Haochen was temporarily at the peak of the seventh step of cultivation, his various abilities were still only at the peak of the fifth step. In the end, he had yet to learn abilities of the sixth or the seventh step. He was thus naturally limited to the use of a combined attack to launch a powerful offense. Under this suppression that was hard to bear, this boost of strength let him display even stronger abilities.

The dark-purple wall appeared weak in front of Long Haochen’s Bright Rain – Thrusting Hibiscus. This mere attack costed Long Haochen a total of 10,000 units of spiritual energy. And because he originally only had a total amount of 4,000 units of spiritual energy, the addition of Final Gambit and Sacrifice required a considerable amount of spiritual energy.

The effects of 10,000 spiritual energy put into a terrifying ability such as Bright Rain – Thrusting Hibiscus, were hard to imagine even for Long Haochen himself.

Blue Rain, Hibiscus of Light, transformed into two dragons, breaking through the Moon God’s defenses and striking violently against his two fists.

The dragon cry resounded in the midst of a blood-curdling screech. The dark purple moon at the back of the Moon Demon of the eighth step had a magnificent appearance. It was even able to forcibly cut Blue Rain, Hibiscus of Light, which was transformed into the two dragons, with a dense flash of moonlight.

However, the Moon Demon’s face suddenly turned pale, because the little cut off dragons didn’t disappear, but made its way into his body, causing the Moon Demon to let out a miserable scream in the midst of a heavy fog.

This was the corroding effect of the light element against the darkness element. Further adding the penetrative effects from the addition of the water element. With enough spiritual energy invested in it, Bright Rain – Thrusting Hibiscus became the incarnation of Dual Dragons of Bright Rain, not only possessing a formidable offensive power, but also carrying an extreme restrictive ability. Even a strong opponent such as the Moon Demon at the eighth step was unable to resist it, and was unable to move for a moment.

Such a sudden chance, how could Long Haochen let it slip by?

With both of his hands, Bright Discipline was held high above his head, but Long Haochen didn’t immediately launch the attack. Dense golden ripples ascended around his body, it was Storing Power!

Long Haochen’s spiritual energy in a Conjoined spiritual boosted state, combined with Haoyue’s spiritual energy, the spiritual energy from the light essence contributed by the Eternal Melody, and the spiritual energy from the Light Elemental Fairy Yating were gathered, concentrating within him at a fast speed.

If it had been the Holy Spirit Sword from before, it would have instantly melted under the force of this terrifying amount of spiritual energy, but the material of Bright Discipline was extraordinarily tough, making this concentration possible. In this instant, the golden light released by Long Haochen could even be immediately seen in the chaotic war happening at high altitude. From this, one could well imagine how terrifying his current bursting force was.

The golden spiritual energy concentrating rapidly produced a massive distortion in the air.

Seriously? What a bad end for cliffhanger…

This chapter felt like Mc has grown up from a boy to a man a little…

    Thanks for the chapter…

    P. S. Read the spoiler a little, the Author has seriously expanded the info a little too much and no immediate result.

Thanks for the chapter n donator.. hopefully u dont forgot about standard chapter, it should been relased anyway..

    • Sarlisark

Are you misunderstandign sth? The standard chapters are all 2-3 days if and only if their are no sponsored ones coming out after 24h since the last release.
You could say that after each release the timer starts anew. And after more than 24h the next chap is standard not sponsored.
If I only misunderstood what you said as some kind of slight criticism against him I am sorry.

      • Luke Confidential

I believe he’s referring to one point during Toto’s trip where a standard chapter seemed to disappear. I’m not sure if it actually did or if Toto was keeping really good track, but it felt that way lol.

        • Robin

There was no standard chap disappearing. There was just a delay once after he had the flight to China and needed to adapt to the new time zone. Toto kept his pace and rhythm aside from this one day break.

This is the second comment demanding the standard chap despite an unbroken queue of sponsored chaps. I am really asking myself what some people are thinking. It is as explained above, after each release it starts anew. It is only if on a day of a standard chap release the donation queue fills up, that the standard chap comes first, followed by the sponsored one.

          • Luke Confidential

Makes sense. Like I said it seemed like it disappeared to me but I get what you’re saying.

            Thanks for the clarification Robin.

          • Robin

You are welcome. I agree, there has been some confusion because of the delay, added to the fact that the donation count was not up to date for some time. ^.^

  • Jonathan Hurd

I would just like to say first off Thanks Toto, and cliffhangers hurt….

Also i would just like to say to everyone who was complaining that LHC already has Blue Rain, Hibiscious of Light and doesn’t need another sword…. This is why he needs another sword.

    • felix

So who has the blade of overpowered overpowerness laying around? Unfortunately I sold my triple edge sword of “good end” a while back to pay for my gaming addiction, so can’t contribute.

On a serious note, he is managing pretty well so far.

      • Jonathan Hurd

Next attack is going to be sick. Storing Power, Ripples of Light, and Holy Sworded Asura Strike is coming at that 8th step Moon demon. That is going to leave a mark, hehe. Can’t wait for LHC to have some freaking downtime so he can learn all of Xingyu’s 6th step skills…

        • Luke Confidential

And all 6th step Necromancy spells 😛

          • Jonathan Hurd

They might not be as cool as all the necromancy and retribution secret skills he’ll get, but he also gets to learn the mainstream Guardian Knight stuff too.

          • felix

Even if he wins the battle, the war ain’t over. Still hoping here for him to be forced to use necromancy… just a little more… if anything else happens he wont have a damn choice in the matter! tehehe

          • Luke Confidential

I’m hoping the Bright Rays of Sunshine [and their sister squad] get zergrushed by demons after LHC physically incapacitates himself and Austin Griffon from overcoming this enemy Powerhouse of the 8th step.

Long Haochen will be left with no choice but to animate the fallen.

          • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair after this last attack I don’t think LHC will be conscious much less able to use any more spells. You are not alone though I freaking would love him being forced to Necromancy it up as well. Sadly Necromancy doesn’t seem like it would have a sure kill attack compared to Asura Strike in this particular situation.

  • Jonathan Hurd

I would just like to say first off Thanks Toto, and cliffhangers hurt….

    • Robin

Yes, if the donation bar fills up, there is a sponsored chap within 24 hours. If not, a standard chap will be released every 2-3 days.

      • DokiDokiSenpai ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

So how can i know donation bar is filled…like how much ammount needed to fill it ?

        • Robin

Do you see the text on the upper right side of this page saying:
          Details regarding donation?
There is a count showing how many chapters are sponsored right now. Under this, there is a link leading to an excel doc where you can see how much money was sponsored, how much is needed for the next chap to be fully sponsored, and how many chapters were sponsored by whom. Just check it out, it is really easy to understand. ^.^

Okay not to count chickens before they hatch but what is peoples guess’ on the amount of Contribution points potentially killing an 8th step Moon Demon can net. Also what do you think LHC is going to be rewarded for his efforts this time around.

My personal bet on the Moon Demon would be that his points are probably somewhere close to 40k if not past that. I say that since the Moon Demon clan is second ranked and this is a powerhouse of the 8th step. We have seen some pretty amazing leaps in points as we go up steps so that is just my rough guess.

On LHC’s teams reward for almost single handedly turning the tide and then LHC selflessly blocking an 8th step when he was just at the 5th step… He deserves a spiritual stove. I don’t know if they will give him one, but come on…. Doing something that insane to guard everyone deserves some kind of pay off.

    • Schattenbach

My other guess is that anyone with a bit of responsibility should ask themselves why they allowed Haochen, Cai’er and Haoyue to get in this situation in the first place (especially since Cai’er’s wounded) by forcing them to participate according to the standard DHS procedure despite there being too many demon gods and high-ranking powerhouses around (with plenty of additional demon gods and such that could arrive at any time) at the battle front and even collateral damage from the battle in the sky might end their lives. They are supposed to get some room for growth, sure, but they’re also supposed to do their best to survive until they’re at least twenty years old.

Moreover, Haoyue is most definitively not someone who is supposed to be anywhere near any place where he might get the Demon God Emporers attention (as I’ve said before)… the Demon God Emporer considered destroying that large border fortress, the Demon God Slayers (6 humans quite a bit somewhere within the 9th step) as well as the Assassin temple just to get his hands on Haoyue based on the mere possibility that he might still be there … sending someone like that to the frontline is like asking for another twelve demon gods to show up to join that battle …

As such, Haochen’s squad might get a reward, but there’s the likelyhood
that the alliance’s administration as well as Haochen himself might get
into trouble for putting … Haochen, Cai’er as well as the whole Temple
Alliance (due to Haoyue’s presence) in danger. … or there will be an much larger siege in the future that threatens humanity as a whole just to pressure the alliance to hand Haoyue over to the demons.

      • Luke Confidential

Wait… when did ANYBODY in the Temple Alliance figure out that LHC’s Mount was what the DGE was after?

The closest I seem to recall is when the Knight of the DGH squad noticed something peculiar about Haoyue.

        • Schattenbach

The knight of the Demon God Slayers stated (in presence of a certain assassin of the 9th step – also known as Cai’er’s great-grandfather – so … it’s also extremely unlikely that those in charge of the Temple Alliance didn’t bother to investigated that incident as it was something that might’ve lead to the destruction of humanity … what with the Demon God Emporer taking action in person and nearly destroying that fortress and the Assassin’s Main Temple ) that it was most likely Haoyue that the Demon God Emporer was after.

          To quote the exact statement:

[[“Haochen, is it your magical beast companion that the Demon God Emperor searched for?” Chen Zidian’s look shifted to the other side, in the direction of the deeply sleeping Haoyue.

Long Haochen didn’t dare hide it, unfolding the situation, “It is highly possible, but I don’t dare to be sure of it.”

Chen Zidian’s eyes flashed, “I also reckon it as highly possible. From my investigation, you completed a blood contract with him at the time you went to the Knights’ Saint Mountain. Since this is the case, until you two are powerful enough, don’t let him appear in places where the Demon God Emperor could learn of his existence. He just managed to conceal himself from the Demon God Emperor, so he should be able to keep doing so in the future. Humans need a hero like the Scion of Samsara of that time.]]

Even before that, it’s not like no one actually noticed anything about what happened between Haoyue and the three Demon Gods during their assault on the Angelic Knights.

Haoyue appearing at some major battlefield were twelve demon gods are fighting is …

          • Jonathan Hurd

I understand where your coming from with Hao Yue showing his presence being dangerous and I completely agree on that front. The problem though is that the current battle is too big for LHC to stand down from it and still be our LHC.

I would say that as long as Hao Yue doesn’t use the power of his Soul to intimidate any Demon Gods he will probably be fine. The three Demon Gods at the Exorcist Mountain Pass only realized who Hao Yue was after he did that. Add in that I don’t think the Demon God Emperor has specifically told them to look for Austin Griffin in order to avoid causing a mass panic, and that right now the battle is too chaotic for the Demon Gods to search with all of them far up in the air fighting. I feel Hao Yue should be good for now unless LHC is forced to face a Demon God.

Currently I would say even looking down at LHC they might just assume that LHC is a hidden 8th or potentially 9th stepper and he is someone who just got to the battle field. Thanks to the fact that LHC is giving off so much Light Element that would probably hide the energy from him fusing with Hao Yue I believe.

The reason I would say that the Temple Alliance didn’t stop LHC from coming is that they don’t really have the authority to do so. DHS’s are an independent group and do not take orders from the Temple Alliance so as long as LHC and his team decide to go they can go. The biggest thing I would say is that this is just an extremely desperate time. I mean the demons can actually spare an 8th stepper to come down and not have to deal with the humans high levelers. With 12 Demon Gods I think the temple alliance is desperate enough to not be able to afford preferential treatment of people.

          • Schattenbach

It’s not like adding six (or rather … seven) humans at the 5th step is going to make much of an difference when they’re sending several thousand of humans at the 5th step or above as reinforcements, anyway, though.

Overall, the Mission Tower is managed by the Temple Alliance itself (as we already know from the previous incident with the Mission Tower … the DHS only lead the Mission Tower in name). So … Wasting the most precious future assets the Temple Alliance has (Haochen and Cai’er) by forcing them to the frontline (and they actually forced them to the frontline by making it hard to refuse) while Cai’er’s still mostly unable to fight and while so many high-ranking demon powerhouses and demon gods are around (it’s not like they actually told Haochen’s group anything about those twelve demon gods before they set out for that mission, though) is like leaving their survival up totally to chance (with the odds not in their favour). Them reaching the 9th step without endangering their lives so much is allowing them to contribute so much more than whatever quasi-suicidal effort to save the day they might’ve possibly pulled of during any large scale battle while they’re below the 7th step. The fact that they (the Temple Alliance) didn’t bother to make any effort to keep them away from the warfront where they could die at any moment due to the whims of some high ranking demon powerhouse

[[But right at that time, their closed-door training was forcefully interrupted. Urgent news arrived from the side of the Demon Hunt Mission Tower, regarding a compulsory war mission. All the Demon Hunt Squads staying in Holy City had to participate in it. If they wouldn’t, ten thousand contribution points would be taken from each member of a general grade squad as a penalty, and the higher the grade, the greater
            would this penalty be.

This sort of War Mission was an extremely rare occurrence, only happening at times when the Alliance was facing a big crisis, forcing them to issue a compulsory marching order. The price for those who didn’t want to participate would be considerable.

Although Long Haochen’s team was rich enough to afford this penalty, this would still be a penalty of 60,000 contribution points. Though the retainer knight Han Yu didn’t have to be counted in, this was still something they were unwilling to bear.

After discussing it with his comrades, Long Haochen proceeded towards the Mission Tower to accept this mission, which gave three days to all Demon Hunt Squads to rest and reorganize. Though, the precise details of the mission had yet to be made known to the public.]]

About that other topic … I’m only going to repeat myself when it comes to that, but … a place with 12 Demon Gods is by no means a place were Haoyue is ought to appear (Haochen is only partially at fault here … as they didn’t tell him anything about those twelve demon gods before they accepted the war mission and set of to the battlefield) because the risk of Haoyue appearing there outweights any gains (and also unnecessarily endangers Haochen, Cai’er and the rest of his squad by potentially attracting some powerful demon powerhouse or a demon god that would otherwise would’ve overlooked them) his contribution to that battlefield might provide by provoking the demon gods (as well as the demon god emporer himself) to take more proactive actions instead of keeping the current situation as it is (some battles each year with attemps of weakening and threatening each other here and there but nothing that might really trouble each side too much). The simple risk of the 72 demon gods (and the demons in general) taking on more proactive actions is a risk that’s associated with costs (in terms of lives and goods) so high for the Temple Alliance that even just the mere consideration of taking them on isn’t even funny.

Moreover, as “forced deployment” of DH Squads actually is a thing in the Temple Alliance during emergencies, there’s also the not-so-small risk that the Demon God Emporer (as he actually came personally … together with three other demon gods and his gigantic army) also (as part of the overall gains this battle might bring towards the demons) planned to draw Haoyue out by creating this kind of emergency (that would naturally result in forced deployment) in the first place (to confirm his presence one way or another … or at least gather intell afterwards … as last time, things didn’t work out), so not only are the odds of being found out are much higher, if he’s spotted by any demon in charge or if any demon reports having seen a three-headed creature during the battle, then the pressure towards the Temple Alliance is only going to increase and the next time they create this kind of emergency, even more high-ranking demon powerhouses might be there.

To sum things up … what was the Temple Alliance thinking when they did what they have done in this case? Are the guys in charge there only selected due to their cultivation and neither the ability to use one’s brain nor being competent enough for the job in question are necessary at all? Or do they actually belive that the top-ranked demon gods are idiots that only operate based on pride and their current mood?

          • Schattenbach

Or do those in charge of the Temple Alliance fail to see how investing into their future (in regard to Haochen, Cai’er … as well as the risks assiciated with Haoyue) actually works?

What’s more … what are they actually going to do in case that one or them (or both) end up dying there? I’m not just talking about the wasted chance of strengthening humanity but also about how pissed certain people (that might not have been directly involved in making that choice) might end up when they hear about what happened. Worst case … it ends up in a few more powerhouses dying and internal conflicts within the whole Temple Alliance.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Okay so a few points I would like to respond to…

On the 12 Demon Gods being there. I don’t think the Alliance was aware of this fact before they set out. From what the story said it sounds more like they got a distress letter and predicting things were bad put together this reinforcements without being able to get more info since time was of the essence. Otherwise why would all the 8th and above steppers decide to start by riding in a carriage. If they knew it was that bad to start they would of rushed out by themselves to start.

On the part that this is a plot by the Demon God Emperor to try and lure out Hao Yue. Well the Demon God Emperor basically flat out admitted that a few chapters back so that is not too surprising.

As for the wisdom in sending Hao Yue out. I will again point out that none of the demons know they are supposed to be looking for Hao Yue. The Demon God Emperor still somewhat doubts Austin Griffin has come to their world and would rather not send his army out about to shit their pants. The other thing is that not many people understand or know about Austin Griffin from what we have seen. Consider Yue Ye’s black dragon friend and Yue Ye herself. Hao Yue fully revealed his aura to them and they had no idea what it meant nor did the blood thirsty beta or the Golden Birdy demon who were actually 7th step powerhouses. Add in as the story has said quite a few times demons of about 5th step and below usually have pretty low intelligence. Especially considering a large part of this army is Berserker demons who have almost no mental power. Add to that the giant scale of the battle and that I don’t believe this is the only place hit and finding Austin Griffin from this, if he doesn’t overtly reveal himself, is like finding a needle in a hay stack when you can’t even be sure if there is indeed a needle in that haystack. We also add in the fact that Hao Yue is pretty smart himself and he understands perfectly well that the Demon God Emperor will want to find him otherwise he wouldn’t of hidden himself before. Hao Yue will not easily reveal himself unless LHC’s life is endangered and if that happens then Hao Yue would be endangered too.

On the wisdom of sending LHC and Cai’er into this battlefield. I too wish Cai’er had the time to recover, but these are desperate times. The big thing I would say about this decision is that it is not so much that they want to send these kids into danger, but that being over protective will stunt their growth. If they are always caddled then even if LHC and Cai’er can become strong that won’t mean anything because they would completely lack experience. Only by overcoming great barriers and dangerous situations can they truly grow. Every adult linked to them has stressed a million times that they should protect themselves and keep themselves safe and that is their most important mission, hell even LHC has stated that quite a few times. LHC has also shown himself to have a good eye for protecting his team above any kind of profit.

On how important is adding in 7 more 5th steppers…. Well I think this battle kind of speaks to that. Imagine this without LHC’s team. Demons overrun the front line LHC’s team backed up, two 7th steppers and a bunch of 6th steppers get to attack a less prepared team, and finally the 8th step Moon Demon goes completely unchecked and decimates the entire army…. Number wise humans are far far worse than Demons. It takes incredible effort to get people even at the 5th step. Adding even one more is a huge help to the army.

On keeping LHC and Cai’er for future fights. I think keeping them back from fighting to use them for later fights is kind of counting your chickens before they hatch. It doesn’t matter how strong those two can become in the future if the demons break through and destroy the Alliance. If that happens there is no future for anyone.

Last part on the leadership. We have already learned that most of the leadership came from resigned Demon Hunt Squads. Considering that these people got up to 7th or 8th step through years and years of fighting demons I don’t think you could find someone better for the job personally. They have direct experience fighting on the front lines and surviving. They better probably than anyone else will understand how threatening demons can be. To be honest it seems amazing they have such experienced people leading their government rather than a bunch of old men who stay safe locked in their tower while they send others to their deaths.

          • Robin

Wow, such long posts… But I agree with everything you said. Especially regarding Haoyue and the presence of Haochen and Cai’er. Of course it is a risk, but Haochen can’t renounce Haoyue’s help, especially in such a battle and the risk of dumb demons recognizing him in the middle of such a battlefield is low. Especially, after they fused with each other. The bigger problem could be that Haochen draws too much attention to himself and the Moon Demon escapes to tattle to the higher ups. Which could be interesting in its own way.
For Cai’er it is naturally more dangerous but with such a strong team, they can protect her well. And while not knowing if she is alright, Haochen’s fighting ability would have been reduced greatly, so leaving her behind was not an option either. Still, they need to fight and gain experience. As you have already stated, there is no gain in keeping them safe when the Alliance’s defense is broken.

          • Jonathan Hurd

First off thank you, :P. On Haochen being ratted out by the moon demon there is the possibility, but then again with the sheer amount of power LHC is currently unleashing he has basically gotten all the powerhouses attention anyways. It will also depend on whether the Moon Demon can actually get away from this as well.

I think the higher ups might just assume that LHC is a hidden ace or a powerhouse that came late to the party rather than some lowbie that suddenly boosted to that level since they only noticed him when he started full strength Storing Power. The reason for that is all the things LHC has used to boost his strength are basically brand new. The pills from Lin Xin are new creations that he personally came up with and the fusion with Hao Yue has apparently not been seen before. So other than the demons definitely wanting to nip an amazing powerhouse who has completely drained himself, I don’t think there is too much worry of them actively hunting him more than usual. LHC was bound to start being visible to the Demons sooner or later. Guess its sooner rather than later, lol.

          • Robin

No biggie if its true. 😉

Well, yes. He really does make a show in the sky. I love his wings, by the way. They are amazingly cool. Just imagining the light show was a lot of fun. And it will get better still. So I agree again, he will draw a lot of attention. Probably enough that if the Moon Demon sees Haoyue and manages to escape, he will be too occupied to tell the tale of this strong knight. Or he would keep silent alltogether because it is amazingly embarassing to be conquered by a guy at the 6th step.

          • Jonathan Hurd

One thing I keep wondering about is what kind of color he is giving off right now. I mean every time before when he fused he turned purple. From what the story has said maybe he is more golden and there are some purple symbols around because the 6 other members energy was turned into Light and absorbed by him and the final part of Hao Yue’s stays purple. This is one of those moments I really kind of want to see what he looks like admittedly. While reading it is awesome also having a picture in your mind is pretty nice too. 😀

Also those wings sound badass, lol. Can’t wait for him to stabilize the power more and fully make use of them for a fight.

          • Robin

It is really awesome. And yeah, a good animation of this would be priceless! He seems like a golden angel of light descending in the midst of all the gruesome battles. An entry worthy of the Scion of Light I would say.

Yes, the gold and light seem to prevail. Haochen’s boost mostly stems from the light and spiritual energy of his comrades. Haoyue mostly contributes control together with his own boost of strength. He is more in the role of a supportive controler this time, maybe this is why his color doesn’t prevail the change. But it is a good thing, it lowers the probability of him being detected.Who would believe that the Heavenly Calamity, which is extremely feared by the demons, would collaborate with so much light energy?

          • Jonathan Hurd

One thing I find interesting too is from what the story has said LHC has enough energy to technically be 8th step right now, but it seems that his body caps at going one step up. So at least we now confirmed there is a limit to how OP LHC can become. Though that does make me wonder about when LHC went full body Brilliant Body after taking Sacred Fire from Gao Yingjie. That might have been more caused by the type of energy he was infused with and its concentration.

          • Robin

It is hard to tell how the power will enfold when he really reaches the 8th step. But yeah, he clearly has limits. Which makes him even more adorable. I think it won’t be long until the next release, so look forward to it. XD

          • Schattenbach

It’s still – from the point of view of the Temple Alliance – borderline insane to send such valuable future assets like Haochen and Cai’er to a place were twelve demon gods and who knows how many demon powerhouses of the 7th, 8th and 9th step are busy massacring the Temple Alliance are fighting. Sure they might make a difference … through their usual near-suicidal recklessness created out of their sense of duty (especially in case of Haochen) … however, that kind of behaviour that might make a difference and allows them to face off against opponents that vastly outclass them (those at the 7th and 8th step) is exactly the thing that not only puts their lives at risk but also makes them walk a very small line between life and death (which, in this case, they actually just avoid by things not suddenly making a turn for the worse as it might happen at the battlefield at any time). They have no business being put at a battlefield were they’re more likely than not end up facing enemies at the 7th step and above (especially enemies above the 7th step … ) as, due to that, they’re put in a situation were their very survival – their main job until they’re strong enough – has to depend on luck as well as the whim of their (vastly superior) opponents (if they bother with actually targeting them or not or if they end up getting hit by one of the attacks from the powerhouses that are fighting in the sky). Why do you think was Haochen criticized as much when it was the case back then when people thought that he himself was the one who decided to join the assault of the Angelic Knights? Because there he was put at way too much risk (well … the probability of the Demon Gods actually appearing was somewhat low, despite the Alliance expecting them to show up sooner or later … but even without the demon gods, there were plenty of powerful enemies or the circumstances of great battlefields in general that could’ve cost Haochen’s life if he didn’t have the protection of someone at the peak of the 7th step) for no sensible reason at all. That has nothing to do with “gaining experience” and everything with being incredibly irresponsible. Haochen and Cai’er are just too valuable as to take the risk of them being put against opponents of the 7th step (or above), because they might easily die as a result (the odds of them dying are way too high). It’s like risking a once-in-ten-thousand years chance of actually revise the dire odds against the demon for the sake of “getting some additionsal manpower” (and yeah … that behaviour – that behaviour that allows them “to make a difference” – of them of “putting their lives on the line by facing opponents that are way beyond them in terms of strength is exactly the thing that puts their lives on the line and isn’t to be expected. As such, either they send them there as group that’s fulfilling the normal workload of one 5th step Demon Hunting Squad (which makes no noteable difference when considering how many veterans and elites of the Temple Alliance are on that battlefield … so there’s no much point of sending them there in the first place because they might end up getting stomped due to unlucky circumstances anyway) or they xpect them to vastly outperform most others by doing incredibly risky things that might get them killed (if they’re unlucky) one way or another (which is still a waste compared to much more they might contribute within a few years once they’re powerful enough to not easily be killed by some random high step powerhouse compared to much they could possibly contribute right now at that battlefield).

To sum things more or less up … Sure, if the only powerful enemies they (together with the whole army) would#ve ended up facing off against would#ve been powerhouses of the 5th step, 6th step (as well as a few powerhouses of the 7th step), things would’ve been just fine as far as “gathering experience” is concerned but this battle is just way out of their league to begin with as the scale of things is just too big. They don’t have much control over their own survival if they don’t want to act “cowardly” (run away if necessary, try to stay out of trouble and far away from any fight involving powerhouses that are just too much for people at the 5th step) and even then, the flow of battle might still change at any moment, resulting in them suddenly getting killed one way or another.

“[[To be honest it seems amazing they have such experienced people leading
their government rather than a bunch of old men who stay safe locked in
their tower while they send others to their deaths.]]”

… the issue here isn’t that the people in charge don’t know how things are when it comes to kill demons but … plenty of the Alliance’s top personal (or rather, the people actually being in charge of things) apperantly isn’t selected based on actual skill in managing government affairs or long-term strategical planning concerning the well-being of the whole of humanity but based on their cultivation (and, possibly, contribution by means of things like DHS activity) … which, to be frank, isn’t exactly the best – even in a “might-makes-right” world – way to select one’s commanders-in-chiefs and top administrative personel if one actually wants to get competent people in charge that are capable of thinking things through and make carefully considerated plans. That’s – more or less – the typical issue when it comes to promoting someone from a job he excells at into some higher position that requirs skillsets and competence in areas the original position had no need for … which just ends up frustrating everyone in the end. This isn’t helped by the tendency of those 7th step, 8th step and 9th step people in charge to actually resolve their disputes (and scandales … also known as “old geezers slaugthering their way through to the person they think is responsible for one offense or another”) through violence, either (it’s unlikely that this is ending up with any decent solution).

            About Haoyue …

the Demon God Emporer bothered to moved a gigantic army and appeared himself (despite both his great pride and the fact that he supposedly has better things to do than leisurly take a trip to the Temple Alliance) before the Temple Alliance just to (highly likely) pressure them into handing over Haoyue … that are quite extreme measures. Especially because he was willing to go so far as to not only upset the current status qo by wiping out that major border stronghold, the Assassine’s Main Temple as well as the Demon God Slayers (all of which is something the Temple Alliance is already aware of) in case they refuse to hand said “three-headed creature” over. Compared to that, ordering some subordinates to look out for any three headed creature that might appear during that battle, him himself observing the events on the battlefield from afar (which might happen anyway, due to twelve demon gods being there … and again … he even bothered to observe the Desolate Hissing Cave despite it apperantly being “no big deal” as far as he’s concerned) and/or him ordering his subordinates to question the demons that survived the battle about if they spotted any three-headed creature looks like an extremely low effort course of action in comparsion. Even the seemingly paranoid idea that this fight is (among other things) also something that was created to draw Haoyue out is, cannot be easily brushed aside by those in charge of the Temple Alliance (because the likelyhood of Haoyue being spotted … because in that case, there are most likely measures in place to spot him with high probability) after taking into consideration how far the Demon God Emporer went last time to find that “three-headed creature” … despite the high possibility that Haoyue left that stronghold several weeks before the Demon God Emporer’s arrival, what with it being more than 50 days and so between Haoyue being spotted and the Demon God Emporer’s arrival (which is plenty of time to run far, far away) … To sum this issue up … the extend of which the Demon God Emporer might go for this matter cannot correctly estaminated by the Temple Alliance because the first-time effort put in by the demon god emporer in this matter already was so huge that it should’ve shocked the entire Temple Alliance. Underestimating the Demon God Emporer in this matter isn’t something the Temple Alliance should even remotely take into consideration. Moreover, should Haoyue really be spotted, there#s no way to tell just how far the Demon God Emporer is willing to go (as he was even willing to take on the Demon God Slayers, if needed to) to pressure the Temple Alliance into handing over Haoyue (and how many hundred thousands of humans are going to die as a result). After all, the Demons are more than capable when it comes to defeating humanity, so avoiding any situation that might provoke them into mounting a major offense is the most sensible (and only viable option) until humanity is strong enough to eventually resist the demons.

          • Robin

I have to admit that you posts are simply too long to be conveniently read. I almost didn’t read this one. It is also hard to answer to so many points at once. ^.^°

I doubt that the existence of the Scion of Light, the Saint Daughter of Samsara and the threat to Haoyue is generally known. True, some people in the higher echelon of the Alliance know about it, but in general they should have too many things to care for to always pay attention to those three. We only know that Sheng Yue and the Demon God Slayers know that the DGE really searched for Haoyue. It is completely unclear who else would have been informed.

They need to handle this information as carefully as the DGE since it would easily cause a panic, if people knew what the DGE did to find Haoyue and which possible threat he poses to the Alliance simply by being there. And with it, their behavior towards Haochen would also change.

Haochen is still without big public merits, and among the mass of strong fighters of the Alliance, he is still rather unknown. The Alliance can’t treat him too favorably without explaining and therefore, revealing his status. And the fame, which would follow such a coming out, would not only possibly impede his growth (a big reason why his father didn’t even reveal it to the Alliance at all), it would also possibly reach the ears of demon spies. So far, the existence of a new Saint Daughter of Samsara alone would cause the demon side to do everything to erase a possible future threat. Adding the existence of a powerful Scion of Light pairing up with her AND a possible threat from Austin Griffon, imagine what they would do. So it is not wise to do too much to protect haochen and Cai’er. As soon as other DHSs and people would start to question those actions, there would be problems. Therefore, their presence on the battlefield is not too extraordinary. Especially, since they HAD the chance and the means to not participate. But then, I think, this battle would have ended badly. 😀

          • Jonathan Hurd

I do share your fear that if people knew the Demon God Emperor wanted Hao Yue there would be quite a few different opinions on that. One side probably thinking Hao Yue is something that even the Demon God Emperor fears do we want to be messing with that? Another side could be thinking we can use Hao Yue as a bargaining chip with the demons. Another side worried as you said he would inspire the Demon God Emperor to attack them. The final side could see Hao Yue as a decent weapon if properly sharpened that could be used against even the Demon God Emperor. The arguments and split that could cause in the alliance could potentially shake it apart.

The only other thing I would add is remember they also have Yin Er with her Body of Chaos on their team too. LHC’s squad has 4 top priority hit targets for demons, lol. I agree, any unnecessary attention is asking for more trouble than its worth.

    • Schattenbach

As for the amount of contribution points awarded for slaying that demon … it might vary quite a bit. I’m also expecting something at least 10,000 contribution points.

      • Schattenbach

“it might vary quite a bit” depending on how high the cultivation of that demon actually is.

        • Jonathan Hurd

I think another factor might be their race. Though that might be tied in with cultivation ranking. We have seen different points for things like the Golden Birdy, Scarlet Beserker, and the Blood Thirsty Beta thus far. I am thinking that the points will probably be near 40kish because the demon is from the Moon Clan the second strongest demon race. It does make sense that the points would go up into the 10k’s since thus far… 5th step demons have been in the 10’s, 6th step I believe in the hundreds, and 7th steppers in the thousands….

          • Psyside

well since that seventh step they killed gave 1k its safe to say this will give 10k or more.
But i think he wont kill him and some one will KS him.
Like LHC will criple his ass beyond mesure and some one comes in and KS. LHC will surely faint from this like he did first time when he fused with hao yue

          • Jonathan Hurd

Oh I don’t doubt the fainting and I agree there is a strong possibility that LHC can’t finish the job considering this is a powerhouse of Moon Clan. At the very least though I think this blow is going to cripple the Moon Demon if not mortally wound him. The Moon demon is not making it out with all his limbs at the very least.

          • Luke Confidential

I have to imagine the Alliance has some kind of clause against KSing [perhaps the CP recording devices also temporarily store the damage dealt to a creature in the equivalent of RAM until such time as the creature is slain and if multiple parties directly affected the creature they all get a share?]

The Alliance is supposed to be a united front against demonkind and- lets face it- they’re in deep doodoo so far as war powers go.

The LAST thing they need is to allow such a thing as Kill Stealing to breed distrust and malcontent among their forces.

          • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair if LHC can’t kill him with this blow then he is not going to be able to land a second one to finish the job. I think not KSing kind of falls under basic survival common sense. If you do that to people it won’t be long before no one else wants to associate and help you. Considering they go into war zones that can greatly increase your odds of death…

One thing I have noticed is there hasn’t been any mention of how many contribution points are given for this war mission. So I feel potentially there could be bonus points rewarded based on your teams performance. We saw something like that when LHC got 500 extra Contribution points for handing over the Light Elemental Spiritual Stove.

Considering how eye catching LHC’s teams performance has been from killing 7th steppers, stepping in front to relieve pressure, starting the counter attack, blocking an 8th stepper, and now glowing so bright he can probably be seen from space…. The only people who have not noticed him by this point probably hid under a rock when the fight started.

          • Luke Confidential

It’s also distinctly possible LHC might be able to cripple him and any other Striker on his squad [even the damned (War)Priest] could finish the job barring a Kill Steal.

Or a member of the 22nd could finish the job and then divide the points fairly [probably by their old 70-30 rule with the bulk going to the BRoS]

          • Robin

BRoS doesn’t sound bad, does it? And it is appropriate for what they are. 😀
Things surely will be really interesting in the next chapters.

          • Luke Confidential

And the eldest- Big Bro [at least, I’m relatively sure Lin Xin is the eldest, I think it’s either him or the Priest. At the very least I’m pretty sure Lin Xin is 19 though I’m not sure where I saw it….] – has drugs!

          • Robin

I am also not sure who is older of those two. But my guess also goes towards Lin Xin. Yep, and his new drugs are amazing and have a really powerful effect.

          • Sarlisark

well We do know that Ksing is possible. When they first encountered the fiend cavalry, Li Xin killed the commander of the fiends and apologized to LHC for taking all of the CP for herself even though he and hao yu did weakened him and made him flee/damged him so much that she was actually able to kill a 6th stepper even though only beeing at the 4th one.
But considering the fact of them beeing at war and the danger of offending other squads, no one would be stupid enough to actively do KSing. It just would not be worth the risk of becoming completely isolated.

          • Schattenbach

Ah .. sorry, I was talking about that demon’s cultivation while already taking into consideration what kind of demon it is (… lineage is pretty important when it comes to the threat of demons – especially if one of their race is actually a high-ranking demon god as that implies that the potential of that demon clan is extremely high – after all … and so is how troublesome they actually are to handle for humans) … as there’s quite the gap between the beginning of the 8th step – should be around 30,000 internal spiritual energy or so – and the peak of the 8th step – that’s already approaching 100,000 internal spiritual energy (combined with the risk of that demon to eventually reach the 9th step if not taken care of eventually … although that’s likely the case for most demons that managed to reach the 8th step without ending up in one bottleneck or another, anyway, I guess).

I don’t think that that demon is anywhere near the peak of the 8th step, though, as otherwise, it could just brute-force itseld through this encounter in one way or another.

Another factor in determinating the contribution value of that demon might also be that it’s (more or less) a mage type (as far as I could tell thus far, the contribution points for mage-types seem higher … which is understandable, as mage-types are much more useful and threatening as when compared to some 0815-fighter type with low magic capabilities).

thank you very much for the chapter

Sometimes I really wish Toto would decide whether he’s going to do a 2 day or 3 day standard chapter at the time he publishes the previous chapter.

The anticipation of waiting for a chapter I don’t know is coming today or tomorrow is not pleasant at all lol.

    • Robin

Statistically, most of the time it is every 3 days. Especially after such a long row of releases. ^.^

    • felix

Just assume its 3 days and be happy when its 2 days.

    Thanks for the chapter!
