Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 275

Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 275: Collective training behind closed doors (III)

Lin Xin snorted twice successively, “Then that’s just like me.”

Sima Xian replied, “But haven’t you just been threatening people? If you make fake drugs for me to take, hehe, I may have a nice chat about it with Li Xin. On the basis of your flashy appearance, how about trying to see whether Li Xin would believe it if I made up a story about one of your ex-girlfriends?”

“You… Okay you win this time. Bro is terrified.” Lin Xin revealed an indignant expression, finally stopping to pay attention to Sima Xian. Seeing his current face, the others couldn’t help but have a good laugh.

“Speaking of it, boss, after Luc Xi heard that I could make the Conjoined Boosting Pills, he expressed his desire to buy a batch of them for 1,000 contribution points, providing his own materials. Tell me, should I accept or not?”

Long Haochen asked, “How long would you need to make these pills?”

Lin Xin replied, “About ten days. During our trip from Holy City to the battlefield, we should be travelling on horseback and I should have the time to make them. I’m just unable to guarantee that I’ll definitely be successful.”

Long Haochen gave his response with a nod, “Then let’s give it a try.” Individual strength is negligible on the battlefield, thus having another familiar team around to which they could trust their backs was definitely a good thing. Plus, this could only increase the chance of survival for both of their teams. And during those three months of self-training, Luc Xi’s strength also increased quite dramatically. Although it could still not compare with Long Haochen’s group, in regard to the fact that Long Haochen’s group still had yet to break through to the sixth step, the gap between them had truly narrowed over this period. Of course, this was considering that Long Haochen’s group had yet to purchase new equipment.”

As they finished talking to each other, they arrived at the Transaction Center. After entering, they immediately headed to the second floor. Although the first floor also contained some precious equipment, it was too few in number. But at the second floor, at least half of the sold equipment was at the Glorious Tier. It was just that the total quantity of equipment sold there was lower than at the first floor.

Showing their general grade insignia, the seven passed through the guards of the second floor, and for the sake of saving time, they immediately dispersed, in search for equipment fitting themselves.

Everyone had different needs for equipment. Among them, the one who was the least in need for new equipment with supplementary effects was Chen Ying’er, who had been mainly relying on her contracted beast’s ability ever since she got it. But she was unsure as for how to strengthen this little pig.

Generally, the only solution she had to increase her fighting strength was to increase her spiritual energy, thus she looked for the kind of equipment that would enable her to increase her spiritual energy, steady her mental capacity and also offer a bit of defense.

The ones who were the most in need for new equipment were Wang Yuanyuan and Sima Xian. Sima Xian bore the role of a warrior in the team, but was still clad in a priest gown. Wang Yuanyuan also never wore full-armor, her only true equipment being the Gigantic Divine Soul Shield. In comparison to them, Han Yu and Lin Xin were not that pressed to find new equipment; they were all right with any choice improving their status, though they were not going to pick any random pieces of new equipment.

Lin Xin’s Fire Cloud Crystal Staff was already refitted at a specialized place, becoming a fire elemental staff at the peak of the Glorious Tier. He was originally already the richest one in the group, and the gown he was clad in was already at the Spiritual Tier.

Separating from his comrades, Long Haochen carried Cai’er, searching in an area of the second floor. Every floor of the Transaction Center was separated in two areas, with one for the Transaction Center’s equipment and goods, and one where Demon Hunters would put their own equipment and goods for sale.

Long Haochen first went to look at the goods the Transaction Center had for sale, planning to have Cai’er pick a personal armor for herself.

Already having her golden dagger with the ability to pierce through any armour, it was completely unnecessary for Cai’er to change her weapon, which was already at the Glorious Tier. For her left hand, she had the Dagger of Samsara, so she could do without changing any of her weapons. But defense was Cai’er’s weak point.

Seeing them approach the sales counter, the staff member of the Transaction Center welcomed them respectfully, “Hello, how may I help you?”

After thinking for a bit, Long Haochen replied, “I want to buy an armor at the Glorious Tier usable for assassins, as well as accessory equipment for assassins.”

The staff member nodded, and replied, “Please wait a moment.” Afterwards, he turned around, walked inside a separated area, and came back a moment later with a thick file in his hand.

“Respected Demon Hunter, I just checked a moment ago, and found four armors in accordance to your criterias, and three accessories. Please pick your choices.”

After this was said, he opened the thick file, rapidly turning the pages, on which a detailed presentations of the armors and goods could be seen.

Long Haochen took Cai’er’s hand, looking at those presentations as he wrote some words on her palm.

Each of the four armors had particular features, placing emphasis on different aspects. The first mainly attached importance to raising one’s spiritual energy, but was more fitting to assassins using the fire element, as a gem of the fire attribute was inlaid in it.

Cai’er’s attribute was very particular. She was not a user of the fire attribute, but was more accurately a user of the destruction attribute and the death attribute. This was a change that the Dagger of Samsara produced in her, making this elemental armor unsuited for her.

Among the other three, another one had the same problem, which eliminated it as possible choice.

Among the last two armours, one increased defense and enabled the user to use his own spiritual energy for protection, producing a defensive power comparable to an elemental shield. In addition, it had an ability called Hardness. The chest, the belly and the back’s crucial parts could at least bear three attacks of powerhouses of the sixth step while staying undamaged.

The other one increased the assassins’ offensive power, boosting one’s rate of spiritual energy gathering. Although it only reinforced this aspect, through the fact that it was classified as Glorious Tier Equipment, the efficiency of this spiritual energy gathering could be appropriately valued. It would boost an assassin’s offensive power by a factor of two or three tenth.

After telling Cai’er about the two types of equipment, the two came to an disagreement. Long Haochen was inclined towards the Hardness Armor, whereas Cai’er prefered the Spiritual Gathering Armor.

Because Cai’er could neither hear nor see, the exchange between the two of them happened as they wrote on each other’s palms. Just as they were arguing with each other, a gentle voice suddenly sounded from behind them.

“Excuse me, are you Captain Long?”

Long Haochen turned his head, seeing a youth, who was several years older than him. Judging based on his appearance he was probably twenty-seven or twenty-eight years-old.

This young man was tall, at least a head taller than Long Haochen. Which made him already close to Sima Xian in height, since even though Long Haochen wasn’t fully grown yet, he was still close to 1.8 meter in height.

But he didn’t look as imposing as Sima Xian. Having broad shoulders and a broad back, standing in a straight posture he still carried a gentle and elegant atmosphere.

When he stood face to face with Long Haochen, describing him as handsome was a bit hard, but his appearance could relatively be described as pretty good. Physiologically a bit round, his gentle eyes gave others the impression of an honest and considerate person.

“Hello, you are?” Long Haochen asked with doubt.

The young man cordially replied, “I am the captain of the eighth general grade Demon Hunt Squad, and my name is Zhang Fangfang. Salutations to the two of you. Captain Long, may I exchange a few words with you.”

Hearing the words ‘eighth general’, Long Haochen unawarely wrinkled his brows, the matter already happened three months ago. Could it be that this person came today to look for trouble? But this did not come as surprise, they had after all lost an amount of 100,000 contribution points! No one would stay calm and collected after this loss.

“So you are Captain Zhang. Hello, I am Long Haochen. Please speak.” Although some thoughts came to Long Haochen’s mind, he still kept a polite attitude. No matter what reaction the other party would have, everyone was after all from Demon Hunt Squads.

Zhang Fangfang declared, “I came to apologize to Captain Long today. Why are you two hiding?” The second sentence was directed at their backs, and in an instant, brought a severe expression to his gentle face.

Two people came in front of him, somewhat unwilling. Seeing Long Haochen their expressions were clearly unsightly. They were precisely the fifth brother and sixth sister from the eighth general grade Demon Hunt Squad.

Zhang Fangfang gave them a meaningful glance, and those two bowed to salute Long Haochen, and the fifth brother revealed a bitter smile, “Sorry, Captain Long, we shouldn’t have attempted to cheat you. We were in the wrong. We pledge that this won’t happen ever again, so please excuse us.”

Long Haochen shook his head, “The matter is already in the past, and you were the ones who suffered the most from it. How could the two of you be the ones to apologize.”

Zhang Fangfang replied, “No, we had to apologize to you no matter what. I originally planned on coming to see Captain Long a lot earlier, but seeing the sign that you were training behind closed-doors, we waited for this moment. About the contribution points they lost, it was their deserved punishment, but this was also my fault for not having raised them better. As their captain, I cannot shrink from my responsibility. I have to apologize once again to Captain Long.” As he said this, he bowed to Long Haochen, but looked a lot more serious than the fifth brother and his sixth sister, literally bending over at ninety degrees.

This attitude immediately changed Long Haochen’s impression of the eighth general grade Demon Hunt Squad greatly. Hurriedly supporting Zhang Fangfang with his hand, he declared, “Captain Zhang, please don’t be like that. This matter is already over.”

Zhang Fangfang straightened his posture, and said with a sigh, “I’m not worried of Captain Long’s mocking. I’m afraid our Demon Hunt Squad could be considered the most out of luck in History. In the past, shortly after we formed our team, we were cheated by another Demon Hunt Squad in the same way they tried to to use on you. It was a very important amount of 5,000 contribution points that we lost from that incident, which almost caused us to fall apart. After getting back on the right track with a lot of difficulty, such a thing actually happened. To be frank, I wanted to quit the position as captain at multiple times, but after spending such a long time together with my comrades, everyone felt affection for this squad. How could I really abandon it so easily? Please don’t bear grudges for their actions; I have already lectured them on it.”

Long Haochen came to a sudden realization. So actually, they had been cheated like this in the past. Although his impression towards the fifth brother and the sixth sister wasn’t good, he had a good opinion of this Captain Zhang. If it was just him, maybe he would have returned those contribution points, but he was now the captain of a Demon Hunt Squad, who had to take his comrades’ interest into consideration , so he naturally couldn’t bring himself to do this.

Early chapter today! Thanks very much

  • Arcadia Blade

    Thanks for the chapter.

  • Anto Wibowo

    Suspicuous.
Thank you for the double chapters!

  • Schattenbach

So Cai’er really wasn’t in need for a new weapon, as she already had access to both a glorious tier dagger as well as the divine artefact class dagger of samsara.

Hm … Their argument was pretty much was one would expect from Cai’er and Haochen, right?

    • Schattenbach

Cai’er’s elemental attributes are quite interesting. Destruction and death are pretty fundamental concepts (especially destruction, which should be counted as being among the most fundamental concepts of existence).

I wonder if Haochen, upon mastering necromancy, will also obtain the death attribute. Well, that’s up for the future.

      • Jean charles

we know now the attribute of cai’er destruction and death so Robin was right it not darkness attribute 🙂 she can enter the tower.

        • Schattenbach

It was pretty unlikely for her to have been darkness attribute (at least not as main attribute), because otherwise, healing magic/light elemental magic in general would’ve been too damaging for her (considering how much Yue Ye and her demon friend were afraid of getting healed) and she couldn’t possibly enter areas that are strongly satured with light essence (like the alliance’s treasure vault, I guess). The lack of “purple energy” and such released by her was somewhat telling, too, but could’ve lead to jumping to conclusions, too.

          • Luke Confidential

Are we sure that vulnerability to light-based healing of demons is a simple matter of attribute?

Yes all demons have darkness as an attribute, but how do we know it’s not more closely linked to their physiology?

Maybe it’s more like how an attribute is part of a magical beast’s body

          • Schattenbach

It might also have been that the energy density in their body is, due to their nature as magical being (capable of evolution … being stronger on average compared to humans at birth, ecetera), considerably higher, but then again, the essene of disorder Haoyue used to rip the elemental darkness essence out of the body of these demons back then might’ve (if I remember right) also damaged Haochen’s group if it wouldn’t have been placed so well, so it should still have some significant side effects. Moreover, the moon demon clan’s princess herself isn’t considered to be demon-like enough to actually be a demon, but was still afraid of getting healed because, from her point of view, doing so was too much of a gamble.

          • Luke Confidential

Lets not forget that being a half-demon who does possess the darkness attribute is different from being a half-demon who possesses the light attribute [as many of us suspect LHC to be.]

In fact! That very half-demon nature which is more closely bound to its elemental nature might have been part of what triggered LHC to become the Scion of Light. He certainly didn’t inherit 97 fricken Innate Spiritual Energy from his 80-something ISE old man.

          • Rengel Sia

It is also possible that Haochen inherited his Innate spiritual energy of 97 by Pure luck, otherwise, where did Cai er and samsara inherited their Innate spiritual energy >90 when nobody existed like them before?

          • Rengel Sia

To place a balance, it is also possible for LHC to inherit 97 innate spiritual energy by pure luck or destiny, otherwise, where could have Cai er and samsara inherited their innate spiritual energy >90 when nobody like them existed before?

        • Schattenbach

At the same time, assassin techniques are pretty difficult to explain without them employing either the darkness or space attribute … well … since, for example, Elux used some mysterious means to manipulate dimensions, I guess there are some other explenations behind the assassin’s techniques.

          • Schattenbach

            explanation*

      • Rengel Sia

That is likely to happen, when LHC learns this Saint Deathly Arts, he would most likely be able to comprehend this Death attribute, also with the aid of eternal melody.

    • Schattenbach

      pretty much what one*

  • Luke Confidential

Woah, didn’t somebody predict in recent chapter comments that Cai-Er’s Attribute would be Death or Destruction [I think these may have been separate comments/commentors]

    • Majk

Yes they did and congrats to Rengel Sia for winning our coupon for a Cai’Er mecha waifu YAY!! (the last owner was found filled with holes after apparently flirting in front of her. The police arrested the other woman but you know better safe then sorry 😉

I also believe that when this was discussed long ago it was mentioned but thats to much of a point to look for so sorry if you guessed this before

    • Rengel Sia

HA HA. I predicted it right. The Death attribute, and the only hint I had was the killing intent that was materializing with Cai er’s spiritual stove attack. 😀

      • Luke Confidential

        Calling it now.

Austin Griffon’s final attribute is the Death Attribute.

        • Rengel Sia

I don’t know. I think, the purple aura Austin Griffin was faintly emitting in the previous chapters are closely related to being dark attribute. For example, LHC’s Golden eyes relating to light attribute, or Purple eyes of Yue Ye and their kin, relating to dark attribute.. This, I think is the final attribute of Hao Yue, otherwise, how could the Demon God emperor be familiar with this faint aura? hmmm.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Well to be fair it wasn’t the Demon God Emperor who recognized Hao Yue’s aura, but the three Demon God’s that were trying to kill Cai’er’s father that got the whiff. Also going from Yue Ye’s Black Dragon’s friends reaction it seems like the demons have fear of Austin Griffin’s aura built into their very blood.

From what was said during LHC’s entering the Tower that purple aura seems to be Soul Energy. So maybe his heads will be (assuming 9 because of contract mark) fire, Light, Wind, Water/ice, Lightening, Earth, Dark, spatial, and now death/destruction since we now know that also exists. The purple power could be something more along the lines of a thing Unique to Austin Griffins Soul so it may not have a dedicated head.

  • Schattenbach

The new preview really makes it look like they could’ve just borrowed the money to upgrade to commander grade and/or perform some missions …

    • Jonathan Hurd

They realized that they just got overly greedy. I still find it funny that they could of made a deal with LHC rather than try and cheat him and knowing LHC’s character he would of accepted. The other problem is they made this decision between just three of them without talking to the other three or their leader.

  • Zeth

Thank you very much Totobro and Sponsors!

  • Majk

Man that fifth brother deserved the ass kicking even more then I believe before. He acted like a piece of trash and still complains that he has to apologize for it. Not to mention that he should know how big of a blow something like that could have been for the ones that he was about to cheat seeing that he experienced it on his own skin.

Just imagine that insted of LHC another squad would get pulled into it they could suffer mentally which would make their coultivation speed fall drastically or maybe even stop at some level. Worst case scenario the whole group could fall apart and die on a mission because of this.

    • Luke Confidential

Honestly… I think this team is just plain stupid in general.

None of the other top tier teams fell for it, and it was only Duan Yi and Yang Wenzhao [with the aid of their mounts] who would have had a chance aside from LHC [who dominated.]

      • Schattenbach

YuanYuan (who’s also the undisputed top warrior of this DHS selection) could’ve natural Space attribute (as, while rare, Space is still a regular attribute) and as that shield is (if I remember right) bloodline-bound, the Space attribute might’ve be quite common in her family.

        • Luke Confidential

          What exactly is your point?

If you misunderstood mine, I was talking about being uncertain if she adapted Ripples of Light into Ripples of Space.

          • Schattenbach

Ah … sorry, to clear things up … my point was about two things … that she only might be able to actually use something along the lines of “Ripples of Space” if her natural attribute is something along the lines of space as well, as otherwise, she might be limited to using her natural attribute and whatever specific techniques that shield already has … my second point is that she has been the undisputed top warrior of this DHS selection, so her talent as warrior is nothing to laught at, so if she actually has a natural space attribute, linking the shield and the spatial version of Ripples of Light together might actually be a lot easier as one might think at first.

          • Jonathan Hurd

From what was said when she was fighting LHC I’m pretty sure her energy type is spatial. I would also say that she is indeed a powerful warrior and the most powerful warrior of her Demon Hunt Selection, but I think we shouldn’t be underestimating the 5th brother this hard.

LHC is a monster in his own rights and has more secret techniques and trumps than just about anyone. Wang Yuanyuan’s shield is strong and great, but as the Earth Mage of Yang Whenzhao’s team showed if you play keep away against her you can basically win.

  • MythosDragon

Due to not getting emails for this series, I’ve essentially been forced to drop it. I would like to know the current plans for fixing this?

    • Luke Confidential

Just check it periodically like the rest of us. Once per day at some time after 3PM Pacific Time [whatever time that is for you] will guarantee you catch any chapter[s] that were released that day.

Or just check it once a week and batch read for the week.

      • MythosDragon

Thing is, I did that once, and couldnt figure out which chapter I left off on, ended up essentially rereading 3 chapters before I was positive which chapter I read, I then stopped reading cuz that was all the time I had.

I read atleast 50 series that are getting updated atleast weekly, and that already eats up most of my reading time, I dont really want to work to read a series I put somewhere in the middle of my rankings.

Its just the most convenient thing possible for emails to be fixed, or to join one of the hub sites that mentions new chapters for series on other sites.

        • carlo arcenal

Unfortunately, if you have already such a high number of reading list, then it is just reasonable to you to drop this, but why not bookmark the last chapter you’ve read and then when you comeback after a week, check the bookmark for where you left off, then voila, 2-3 chapter reading spree, more if there are more chapters sponsored. Man, shen yin wang zuo readathon is one of the best feelings ive ever had.

        • Jonathan Hurd

Honestly I enjoy how frequently this series updates personally. If you want you could always just leave it in a favorite folder and come back to it later when you have more free time and/or some of the other stories you are reading have finished. We still have quite a ways to go before this one is going to be completed.

        • Hello Kalp

use novel updates or any site that makes you have a reading list in order to not lost track.

        • Luke Confidential

Middle of your rankings? Out of 50? Wow… this is one of the only two novels I’ve classified as worth my time to read at this time [though I’m considering picking up Stellar Transformation.]

AFAIK the problem isn’t the emails, it’s the server crumbling under the pressure when the email goes out and everybody shows up at once.

If Toto could possibly set up the emails to be staggered by region [say Europe/Africa gets the initial email, America gets the second some period later and Asia/Australia gets the last] it might pan out well.

          • Rich

I would definitely recommend picking up Stellar Transformations.

          • Robin

Sure, this would be convenient for the readers around the world. But if he had the time to do such an elaborate setting the translation pace surely would drop. Remember that he is an amazing one-man-show and while he is in China, I don’t think he will have more time then before.

          • Luke Confidential

If he had the means to rig it up, it would be an automatic staged release handled by the blog software.

But he might lack the technical understanding or upfront time to set it up.

        • dreamer

I used bookmark feature in my browser. Just delete the old one after reading and bookmark the new page you’re waiting for/haven’t read yet.

        • Robin

Bookmarking the last chapter you read is a really easy and convenient way to keep track of things. While I admire that you even have the time to read so many novels and keep track of the different storylines I want to mention that there are people working hard to provide this free reading pleasure. As Toto said several times before, he enjoys running his own website for releases and I support him wholeheartedly, because this is what keeps him motivated to work hard. Since it is out of the question for him to join a big site you should support him instead of complaining. He works solo on managing the site, translating and releasing and only has help for editing, so there is not much time for other stuff. It is unclear when the mail notification will be fixed. As far as I know the problem lies with the host of the site and is not easily fixed. But as I know our Toto, he will see to it as soon as he can. Until then the readers will need to check from time to time which should be manageable since the releases are relatively steady.

Of course you are free to drop the novel if this is too annoying or too much work for you. Maybe you want to pick it up when it is finished, which could be in about 2 years if Toto keeps his pace and his motivation. But perhaps consider regarding the translators’ work above your own convenience, okay?

    • SceauRond

You could also use a RSS feed, that’s what I do and I get the notifications as soon as the chapters are posted. It’s the most efficient way I found to manage all my WN

  • MythosDragon

Due to not getting emails for this series, I’ve essentially been forced to drop it. I would like to know the current plans for fixing this?

  • ZaX

    Thanks for the chapter

  • Luke Confidential

I mentioned this as a reply, but it demands its own individual comment thread.

I’m calling it now- Austin Griffon’s final attribute is the Death Attribute.

    • dreamer

I think dark attribute is more suitable since the color it gave to LHC when they fused is purple like Yue Ye not grey like Cai’er

      • Jonathan Hurd

He has enough heads to have darkness and destruction/death. I think the purple glow is more linked to soul energy than to an actual element. Especially after he explained how he warded off the spirits using the power of his soul and how when he used the purple color it has scared every Demon including Demon Gods.

    • Inuzuka

      Actually Destruction attribute.

  • Rengel Sia

I wonder if Haochen’s Hair turns into golden color when he reaches innate spiritual energy of 100. That would be cool right? Haha

    • Jonathan Hurd

Now I kind of want to see that, lol. Wonder if after that when he fuses if he’ll have half golden and half purple hair then.

      • Luke Confidential

No, his hair will turn golden under the effects of Yating’s final evolution’s unique boosting effect.

This is a legend passed down from the days of the Fairy Queens. The legend that one day, a Knight and Fairy would tread this path together and become a force more powerful than any the multiverse has ever seen.

The legendary Super Knight! [only to eventually be supplanted by Super Knight 2 and Super Knight 3 and Super Knight God and Super Knight God Super Knight]

        • Rengel Sia

HA hA. you’re over thinking luke. I was investigating how cai er got purple eyes and purple hair at the same time. Turns out, it may be hereditary after all. haha.

        • Jonathan Hurd

Up in the air… Its a bird… its a plane… No… ITS SUPER HAO CHEN!

  • Mangaaddict

    Thanks for the chapter.
I have a theory regarding the final divine throne. I think that the reason no one has been able to use it is because they need to be a necromancer. This might sound insane, but hear me out. We know that that there are great knights who have tried to get the throne (the knight from the demon god hunter squad) but did not get it. So if these powerful knights were not good enough then maybe there is another criteria. I think that this is that their profession is this criteria.
I also think that necromancers are not really mages since the reward that Hao Chen got from the tower was a skill reserved for close combat professions. Why would there be a skill for knights/warriors in a place meant for training necromancers?
One last thing on this subject is regarding the war between the necromancers and everyone else (I think it was called the holy church. Not sure). In this war the necromancers were totally destroyed and everything that was known about them was also destroyed. I think that the church took control of the thrones that originally belonged to the necromancers (if they had the thrones then it would make sense why they were able to deal so much damage even though they were outnumbered). After that great battle the demons came through the rift (and I just want to mention that the timing of this can’t be a coincidence that right after the necromancers are gone the demons come) and the holy church splits into the 6 great temples (I think this because Cai’er mentions that the 6 great temples were originally one organization.

    • Schattenbach

Correction: “We know that that there are great knights who have tried to get the
throne (the knight from the demon god hunter squad) but did not get it” he obtained the approval of three divine thrones, but insisted on getting another one … thereby ending empty handed because that knight didn’t listen to the guidance of the thrones.

On another note … Some of the undead on Haoyue’s world that look somewhat necromancer-ish (like that knight type with his at least 9th step dragon) appear to be more along the lines of martial fighters (which, given the genre of this novel, doesn’t seem that strange).

We don’t know if Divine Thrones can only be used by knights or not, only that they’re in the possession of the knight temple, likely light attribute as well as handed out to those both the knight temple as well as the thrones themselves deem suitable.

      • Luke Confidential

I’m pretty sure the undead didn’t ‘hand out’ that skill. It possessed that skill and Hao Yue assimilated it and passed it on to LHC.

  • Mangaaddict

In regards to my post on the last chapter about who the villain of the story is I just had a thought. Maybe a third race will invade (like what the demons did) and they are so strong that they will force humanity to work with the demons. We know that there are other dimensions since the demon god emperor has mentioned how he want to try and conquer them so it isn’t impossible that another race has that same idea.
Also I saw that someone thought that Austin Gregory will be the final boss. I don’t think that is the case since the Demon God Emperor also mentions how it was Austin who allowed the demon race to flee and that the situation at the time was very complex. If Austin Gregory is evil incarnate then why would he allow the demon race to escape?
Finally I am an idiot since I was thinking Bai Yue had the last name of “yue” when in this series the last name comes first (face palm). But I still think that she is part demon, but now I have no clue who she is related to since no one has shown up with the name of “Bai” (maybe it is anon the 7th demon god which would explain why LHC’s dad went to fight him).

    • Robin

      Austin Griffon.

    • Schattenbach

According to what#s been said about Haoyue … his personality was quite a bit more vicious back then … he apperantly destroyed (well … not exactly destroyed … more like he devastated it) that world by smashing some cosmic pillars (that made everyone … the weak who didn’t escape … die as a result) …. but who knows what exactly happened (and for what reason)? The undeads aren’t exactly the most reliable narrator and neither are the demons.

    • Jonathan Hurd

Personally I think you might be a little too obsessed with the idea of someone being the villain. Everyone in the story has reasons for what they are doing and goals. That doesn’t really make them evil or villains. Its more like reality where who is the bad guy is just reliant on your perspective.

I do think that the humans and demons will eventually be forced to work together, but I still feel that is a ways off. What would be fun is if the undead from the demons original world came to LHC’s current world. They might even figure out where that is by following where Austin Griffin teleports to.

For Austin Griffin, his circumstances seem to be getting more and more complex the farther we go. I agree with Schattenbach that we should probably take what a bunch of undead monsters say with some salt though. I still personally wonder where Austin Griffin started. My theory is still that he might actually be something along the lines of a biological weapon that is sent to different dimensions to change them into a place suitable for his creators to live in.

On Bai Yue there is at least a chance that she could be moon clan. I mean the easiest way of hiding your true name could be to swap your last name and first name. So it could be that she is actually Yue Bai originally. To me personally I think there is still a high chance of her being human especially since we found out how many concubines the Demon God Emperor and the Moon God have kept.

      • Luke Confidential

Clearly Bai Yue is related to the Speed Clan.

        • Schattenbach

There’s still that lone #7 ranked demon god which she might be the dauther of.

        • Jonathan Hurd

          Well played…. Well played…

          • Luke Confidential

Where this gets better is if she’s a daughter or grandaughter or niece of Bai He……. that would make LHC moderately reasonably closely related to Tang San lol.

          • Jonathan Hurd

            ITS ALL CONNECTED!

      • Schattenbach

Do we actually know what kind of beings the Radiant Church worshipped (it was a church, after all, so there might be more to it).

Ancestor worship/hero worship, multiple deities or a single supreme deity (that might or might not have been secrectly evil and/or eldritch and/or cosmic horror like)?

  • Mangaaddict

    I totally agree that I am obsessed……..

    • Robin

Nothing wrong with that. One way or the other we are all a little obsesed with this novel or we wouldn’t spend so much time here. I think you are in good company. 😉

  • Mark

Im the only one that feels familiar with the surname zhang of this captain of the 8th GDS?

    • Jonathan Hurd

It does honestly seems somewhat familiar to me too. I first thought it might have been the last name of the Demon God Slayer’s knight, but then I checked and found out I was wrong. So yeah… no clue maybe we’ll find out in future.

      • ShelfCloud

I remember one Zhang and that was the Battalion Commander Zhang who was leading the battalion that Haochen and the others joined at the Exorcist Mountain Pass (see chapter 168).

        • Jonathan Hurd

That is interesting. Remembering back then LHC had a very big impact on the commander and saved his life. That would definitely inspire this DHS commander to have a favorable impression of LHC if LHC did indeed save his relatives life.

          • ShelfCloud

Yes, that could be indeed explain quite a lot or at least be used further in the story when they should work together. And I would not put it past the author to include something like that altought it could also be just a coincidence.

Guys, I’m a bit confused here. Please answer me.

the earlier chapters said external energy limit was 200. How come the following chapters said that their external energy exceeded 200? for example, cai er was like 460? hmmmn. Now I have to reorganize my thoughts.

    • Luke Confidential

I strongly suspect that was the limit relative to that specific Step of Cultivation. If it wasn’t written as such at that time, the Author has clearly retconned it to such since lol.

      • Jonathan Hurd

I agree I believe when that was said was when LHC was very early in his progress. Considering people start getting to the high thousands of Internal Spiritual energy to become 9th step it would seem rather silly to limit muscle strength to just 200. I think what that might have been related to is an idea that the external and the internal body kind of match up and support each other.

If I were to guess I would say that a body with low Internal Spiritual Energy would not be able to handle/support a body with too high external spiritual energy.

  • Rengel Sia

I have another speculation. Could the slumbering calamity Elux and the heavenly calamity Austin Griffin be related? What if Elux was the villain? HAHA

    • Robin

It would not be completely absurd since Elux seems to possess the ability to alter space. But I doubt it. Elux doesn’t strike me as evil, considered that he is the vehicle to reintroduce necromancy as NOT evil and usable, it would be a bad twist to make him related to the heavenly calamity in the sense of destruction. The same goes in my opinion for him having anything to do with sending Austin Griffon to “his” world.
But I agree, both sharing the same title as calamity does seem to link them somehow.

      • Jonathan Hurd

If they were linked I would wonder why he would send away something with the combat power of Austin Griffin. If he had Austin Griffin at his world to add his power to the Necromancers that would have been an easy win in the war against the Brilliant Church since they already killed 90% of the powerhouses sans him.

        • Luke Confidential

Actually… what if Elux predicted the Demons were already planning an invasion of the planes ANYWAY, and sending Austin Griffon was critical to minimizing their strength?

In fact, what if the plan all along was for Austin Griffon to demolish the demons and send the remnant to Shengmu Dalu to align with the necromancers against the common enemy of the Radiant Church?

          • Jonathan Hurd

I would say that the part about predicting the invasion seems a little off since from what we found out the demons lacked any way to get to Shengmu Dalu until Austin Griffin opened the way… Though that would be a pretty hilarious self fulfilling prophecy if the efforts to stop the events are the things that cause it. Be a nice Greek Tragedy Twist. Thanks to the Fifth Demon God as well we do know that there exist Prophecy so it is not completely unbelievable that humans had something like that too. Would be even funnier if the whole thing kicked off because the Brilliant Church got a prophecy that the Necromancers would bring Humanities downfall so the Brilliant Church attacks and that is what lead to the creation and then exile of Austin Griffin.

It would be kind of amusing if Austin Griffin is a rogue super weapon and that does seem possible. Only thing I would say is we still have no clue how something like Austin Griffin is created. I guess considering that Necromancers can apparently manipulate souls and soul energy there is a possibility that they could be the creators of such a strong soul. It would also make sense if they had the ability to manipulate that souls movements or give it free reign since if my guess is correct Elux attached his soul to his tower.

What might be interesting is if Austin Griffin isn’t one creature with one soul, but actually the result of 9 different souls merged together put into one body. That would somewhat explain why the different heads have different personalities, but are also so closely linked.

In the end I still need to see more of Elux to know his personality. From the current conversations and what he set up he seems more interested in continuing the Necromancers Legacy than smiting the Brilliant Church. I kind of doubt he would be willing to invite strangers in that could potentially destroy everything when he was able to set up his tower and believed someone would seek it out to continue the Necromancers Legacy. Then again maybe the reason he was confidant in his preparations was he believed the demons would arrive soon and the Brilliant Church would be more occupied with them than finishing the last remains of the Necromancers.

          • Luke Confidential

What if the reason Austin Griffon’s soul is so ridiculously strong [and terrifying to the wraiths who shouldn’t have any reason to fear him] is because his 9 souls were ALL necromancers who volunteered for the project.

EDIT: Even better if all 9 of them were at least of the 7th step at the time of the experiment.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Would explain to some degree why he has such control of elemental spells. If each of the 9 was a different element user to start that would be pretty interesting.

          • Robin

The idea of him possessing 9(?) individual souls would indeed make sense. And as it really seems like he didn’t originate from the world Haochen summoned him from, he needs to have a world where he stemmed from.
The idea of him and Elux being somehow related comes also to mind if you think about their first encounter with the tower. Haoyue was able to get rid of the attacking souls and I am sure not Haochen was recognized as a necromancer of the sixth step but Haoyue. He should be stronger than Haochen and thus, it makes more sense that he was the one whose strength was recognized.

          • Luke Confidential

Austin Griffon: All ur element are belong 2 us

          • Jonathan Hurd

On the point of recognition if I’m remembering correctly they did say that Hao Yue seemed somewhat nostalgic being in the tower or something similar to that.

As far as the testing the one Elux tested was LHC. Hao Yue purposefully shoved LHC forward and stepped back so that the light analyzed LHC. Elux mainly assumed the only one who could enter this tower would be a Necromancer at the 7th step of strength. Having seen someone pass the test he just assumed that was how and the thing he tested for after was element.

I would also say that if the one who originally made Austin Griffin was Elux that might make more sense why a Magical Beast with Darkness attribute would show affection to someone of Light Element. Though I would also guess his choosing to partner with LHC could have to do with his Prophecy innate ability.

          • Luke Confidential

Could just be he was drawn to the purity of LHC’s potential. In the same manner the Starlight Unicorn saw himself as unworthy to partner with LHC, Haoyue could have seen LHC’s potential as either a worthy partner or a valuable asset in his quest to evolve.

      • ShelfCloud

There might be another hint for a connection. We got this in chapter 244 when Haochen and Haoyue are in the tower:

“Haoyue crawled behind Long Haochen’s back, calmly looking at him, as his six eyes were filled with gentleness, occasionally giving off a deep glance to the hall, seemingly letting out a nostalgic look, though he seemed rather to be at a loss when recalling these memories.”

In my opinion that makes it sound as if Haoyue has been there before but can not really remember it. Where else would this “nostalgic look” come from?

        • Rengel Sia

Hmmn. This was explained in their later conversation. I recall Haoyue call it his Prediction Technique, meaning, he already saw this event beforehand.

          • ShelfCloud

This might be possible, but personally I would not describe something that I saw due to an prediction ability with a nostalgic feeling. Nostalgia is usually something that is tied to personal memories. So that is why for me, this is not completely clear yet.

          • Robin

More like a deja-vu. Since it was the first time he actively used this ability, it could have referred at this. But it doesn’t necessarily mean, that it only refered to this ability.

          • ShelfCloud

Yep, we can add that to the ever growing and already very long list of things that still have to be made clear. 😉

      • Rengel Sia

I don’t really know if Elux is good Robin, In his previous conversations with LHC he said he wants LHC to learn the Saint Deathly Arts for LHC to get rid of the Hypocrites of the Radiant/Brilliant Church, which means, he assumed this message was recieved by a necromancer.

        • Robin

I never said he was good. He is bloodthirsty and seems to be obsessed with destruction even after 1000 years. How in any sense is this good? But he is not absolutely evil either in the sense of a rotten necromancer, at least not in the sense the Alliance seems to fear necromancers. Still, Haochen needs to be really careful, especially if he collects enough energy to sustain Elux and probably awake him further. As we have seen, he is already able to manipulate Haochen into learning necromancy against his will, it could be extremely dangerous if he gets even stronger than that. I guess in this moment Haoyue will need to intervene. Since he is also rooted within Haochen and at a more dominating place, he should be able to keep Elux in check or help Haochen in doing so.

  • Rengel Sia

I have another speculation. Could the slumbering calamity Elux and the heavenly calamity Austin Griffin be related? What if Elux was the villain? HAHA

I’m not quite sure what to make of the Donation Queue’s new details.

Are we getting a Standard Chapter *today* or tomorrow?

    • Robin

Since for Toto it is about 5:30 a.m. right now, he won’t release anything today, as in Thursday. I think he will release the next chap tomorrow if his internet access allows it.

      • ShelfCloud

Oh, so he is in China already? I never read anywhere when he wanted to leave exactly.

        • Robin

He is a very private person so this was probably intended. But according to my fast check of the chinese time, I guess he is asleep right now.

          • ShelfCloud

Yeah, hopefully the jetlag does not cause too much trouble for him. 😉

          • Robin

I can’t even imagine. 7 hours must be hard on your system and your usual rythm. I am sure in the beginning he will be confused if he has to think about our time to keep the schedule of releases. There will sure as hell be a lot of confusion on our side as well, as seen above.

      • Luke Confidential

Thanks Robin, I wasn’t sure because I *have* seen Toto make releases this time of day, or even one hour later than now.

Then again he might be in China right now? Dunno.

        • Robin

          He is. ^^
It will be interesting to communicate with him now regarding the editing because of the time difference. 😉

    Theorycraft time.

Why does Austin Griffon’s World [where he needs to evolve at] lack in elements aside from a specific few?

Did Austin Griffon himself cause this? If so, how?

    • Robin

In general, I am not sure how and foremost WHY he caused that much destruction. Is his organism able to survive in such a devastated world? He should be but why destroying it at all, since as we have seen, he is also happy in Haochen’s world. Was the destruction an order he executed? There are still many open questions.

      • Luke Confidential

As to the WHY, my initial suspicion was that this was a natural result of his evolutions in some way [perhaps devouring all the world’s components of each element until his final evolution filled it with the element of Austin Griffon’s base nature [rather than that of each heads.]

Now I’m wondering if perhaps he was sent there to disrupt the demons, destroy the bulk of them and drive their remnant to Shengmu Dalu.

EDIT: as to your question about his survivability in the world, do you recall when he evolved the last time? There was no sign of distress whatsoever on his body, only concern over his assailants.

        • Robin

I am not that fond of the idea of him intending/being meant to send the demons to Shengmo Dalu. I can’t absolutely deny it but I don’t find it really convincing. As far as we know, the demons arrived after the Radiant Church and the necromancers destroyed each other. Even though a prophecy leading the Church to attack in the first place and thereby interrupting the necromancer’s plan to lead the demons there to destroy/enslave/use (pick one) them is not that unbelievable, it doesn’t yet strike me as the most probable solution. But if this is what happened, Elux knows about it and will be able to tell haochen in time. He should also show more of a reaction to Haoyue’s presence in the tower, if he is able to see/feel who enters it.
Though, I am not so sure how detailed he can recognize who entered it, since he didn’t notice that Haochen is not at the sixth stage. He doesn’t seem as alive as for example the ancestor under the Azur Dragon School in Martial God Asura.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I think Elux’s power is extremely limited right now and that the tower is more running on some automatic system rather than Elux’s will. Elux has given LHC all the knowledge he needs and the instruments to survive and I think that was all he could muster with his current stored strength. As LHC said the tower uses energy with all its functions and needs it refreshed so I would assume if Elux started moving things about that might take even more energy that he personally has no way to restore. Everything has been setup so that LHC can eventually meet him and everything LHC needs to learn has been given to him. Elux has been waiting thousands of years a few more is probably not going to make much difference at this point.

On who destroyed the demons world I would say that is definitely Austin Griffin. The undead and demons seem to be in consensus on that part. Add in the fear both those sides show him and what we have seen him do even at this low level it doesn’t seem that hard to believe. My personal theory on how the worlds elements became like they have is that it might be related to his Elemental Discord attack. He might have used that with 9 heads on a almost global scale and the amount of darkness he supplied and spread basically overwhelmed the other elements.

What I find interesting is how worried the undead are that if they let Austin Griffin reach perfection again he will cause a second Cataclysm. If the first one left the world devoid of the ability to support life other than undead I wonder what the second one could result in.

I just had a thought. Maybe Austin Griffin was setup to send the demons to Shengmu Dalu, but not for the reason we first suspected like destroying the world. Maybe he sent the demons over for the purpose of protecting it. After the fight between the Necro’s and the Brilliant Church the Necro’s were destroyed and the Brilliant Church wasn’t much better off. The whole world was in a state of utter weakness. Now if we add in what the Demon God Emperor said about there being other Dimension Travelers who could threaten Shengmu. The fact is the demons coming in lead to an amazing increase in the worlds war potential. Add in also that the demons are setup in a way that they need humans and there is no way the demons can actually afford to wipe out the humans. The current stale mate between humans and demons has given the humans for one something to unite against and for two time to regroup and rebuild their decimated power.

          • Luke Confidential

Sometimes the ideas of fans are far more entertaining than the way these stories actually play out.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I have to admit I am kind of proud of this spin. I would be amazed if it actually happens, but hell that would make it all the more bad ass. Besides thinking of our own insane twists is the fun of making predictions. 😀

        • Robin

Yeah, I know. But it doesn’t seem to be his favorite habitat so he shouldn’t have willingly created this, rather through the immense power he gained while evolving.
Yeah but we also know that he eats a lot and in a dead world, what will you eat? Skeletons don’t seem very meaty. 😛

          • Luke Confidential

            Zombies.

          • Robin

We heard of a Lich king and skeletons. So far there were no zombies if I remember correctly. And the idea of Haoyue eating rotten flesh is somehow disgusting.

          • Luke Confidential

There are plenty of real creatures- even Mammals and Birds [though invertebrates are the kings of it] that eat rotten flesh.

          • Robin

Naturally, but somehow I don’t want haoyue to be one of them. 😛

  • Luke Confidential

I am looking forward to the day Haochen and Haoyue master their fusion and develop a brand new martial art.

I call it, Longquan, Dragon Fist

  • Majk

Now I cant stop imagining how cute they would look arguing by writing faster and faster on each others hands while their faces would look mare and more stuborn :3

    • Robin

Yes, this should be amazingly cute. And then the face of the desk clerk. The scene in front of you must seem really absurd. Buying that expensive equipment for a blind, mute and deaf assassin and then arguing like that. Really a funny and cute moment of our favorit couple.
