Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 272

Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 272: Big Harvest!

The fifth brother approached at a very fast speed, and his back shone with a green luster. Violently shooting up, the intense confluence of green light behind him took the shape of a violent tiger, accompanying the swings of his axes, and bombarding the golden sun that appeared in the sky. He knew that this was his last chance.

However, many things don’t go as one wishes. With a flash, the golden light unexpectedly spread to all directions, causing the glistening sun’s radiance to vanish in an instant. The brightness was replaced by a deep blue color which concentrated immediately in the sword chopping right in front of the fifth brother. A loud bang resounded. With an incomparably powerful explosion, even with his cultivation level, the fifth brother was utterly incapable of contending against this domineering holy elemental spiritual energy that sent him flying over ten meters.

The golden and blue light vanished, revealing Long Haochen’s true colors. When he appeared, he was a bit out of breath, his face visibly a little pale. But with the help of Yating’s recovery magic, he rapidly recovered.

After the period of probing, Long Haochen had discovered that this warrior wasn’t really a match for him. The fifth brother’s ability was purely based on the use of the wind element combined with his axes. Even after using Madness, his internal and external spiritual energy couldn’t possibly go above the sixth step.

Long Haochen never shrank back even when confronting a demon at the sixth step, let alone the fifth brother that had yet to reach the sixth step. Without particularly powerful equipment, when confronting Long Haochen who had a Light Elemental Fairy’s support, he didn’t have the slightest chance. Though he had that metallic puppet, it was after all a mere puppet and not a real human. Unable to accommodate to changing circumstances, it was primarily reliant on physical attacks, and against the blazing sunlight fire in conjunction with Ascending Dragon Strike, it was unable to unleash its full strength and melted.

Long Haochen’s last blow was the Asura Strike that consumed an amount of thousand units of spiritual energy. Although he didn’t use Storing Power in combination, Asura Strike’s terrifying offensive power was still really destructive. If not for the fact Long Haochen started off lenient, the body of the fifth brother would already have been split in two.

With dang dang dang dang sounds, two split axes fell to the ground. When added to Blue Rain, Hibiscus of Light’s sharpness, how could a piece of magical equipment resist against Asura Strike?

Long Haochen didn’t keep fighting, only looking at the fifth brother crawling on the ground slowly.

The fifth brother’s current appearance was truly pitiable. His armor was completely ravaged and destroyed from the power of Magic Wiping Flash and Asura Strike, and he lost his weapons. However, still in a state of Madness, his eyes still gleamed with a blood red color. With a mad cry, he directly rushed at Long Haochen.

His third brother and sixth sister were standing at the rest area with pale faces. Their brains had even lost all ability to think.

Withdrawing Blue Rain, Hibiscus of Light, and taking out his Holy Spirit Shield, Long Haochen took a step forward, readying the Holy Spirit Shield to confront him. Blocking him and causing a backlash, he pushed the approaching fifth brother three steps back, before also retreating a step backwards. Even in a state of Madness, where the fifth brother was unable to use any abilities, his strength was still quite formidable.

He didn’t lose in regard to his combat experience, but in regard of the control of his spiritual energy as well as its technical aspects.

Long Haochen’s self-created ability and Asura Strike could be called first-rate secret techniques of their rank. Further adding his benefits as the Scion of Light, and the support of the Light Elemental Fairy Yating, even though the two sides were almost at an equal level of cultivation, how could the fifth brother even stand a chance?

The current fifth brother was already close to going mad. Loudly, he yelled, “I cannot lose, I cannot lose!” When pushed back, he immediately rushed towards Haochen again, without showing the slightest trace of faltering.

In his current deranged state of mind, Long Haochen didn’t need to waste any strength. He immediately rushed at him, directly pointing the Holy Spirit Sword at his neck. With a dull sound, the fifth brother simply fell to the ground.

The whole stadium was in total silence. From beginning to end, this battle didn’t last long, and the whole process was rather simple. Suppressing his opponent completely, Long Haochen managed a one-sided victory, giving no chance to his opponent at all.

There were almost only soldier and general grade Demon Hunt Squads that came to watch this match. As a novice Demon Hunter, Long Haochen managed to defeat another Demon Hunter of the previous generation, completely disregarding a gap of five whole years.

Aside from contribution points, in this battle Long Haochen gained the acknowledgement of all those general and soldier grade Demon Hunters.

The third brother and sixth sister from the eighth general grade Demon Hunt Squad walked into the stadium, lending an arm to support their fifth brother. In the end, they didn’t feel resentment but were filled with frustration. Hundred thousand… They lost hundred thousand contribution points! And those did not only belong to them since they had to borrow some to make the bet. Surely, this incident would affect their whole team, and cost them at least one more year to reach the commander grade. And this was only caused by the decision of the three of them, without involving the other members of their team.

The Temple Knight went over to Long Haochen’s side, passing the awarded contribution points to him, “Well done! You are quite good younger brother, from which Demon Hunt Squad do you come?”

Long Haochen replied, “The 21st general grade squad. Many thanks to you, senior referee.” 110,000 minus 500 contribution points were handed over, transferring into Long Haochen’s contribution point tile.

Frankly speaking, when seeing the expressions on the faces of the third brother and sixth sister, he felt empathy, and even thought of giving back the contribution points he gained. But in the end, he resisted. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to return those 100,000 contribution points, but because he couldn’t encourage the eighth Demon Hunt Squad in their greedy behaviour.

What would have happened if his squad didn’t even manage to gain back their own contribution points? There needed to be a pitiful and a hated side, and how could they have given them a lesson if they lost? In addition, if he returned those contribution points, how would those Demon Hunters that laid a bet feel? Wouldn’t they just believe that this was nothing but an attempt to deceive them all…?

“Long live, captain Long!” The members of the 21st general grade and the 4th soldier grade flocked in, rushing into the stadium, and surrounding him from all sides. Long Haochen was tossed up in the air by the group of excited youths.

The third brother and the sixth sister, silently carried their fifth brother to the exit. 21st general grade, they all heard this. At the general grade… They were actually already at the general grade! And this young knight was actually their captain.

Lin Xin and Luc Xi quickly calculated their earnings this time, giving the Demon Hunters that gambled on Long Haochen their earnings. Of course, they were a minority.

Duan Yi’s and Yang Wenzhao’s expressions looked ugly. They received the 3,000 contribution points they gained from the bet on Hoachen, but still lost 7,000 contribution points in the final count. The original certain favorites had suffered a crushing defeat, and didn’t have much left, leaving in a dejected state.

Quickly, Lin Xin and Luc Xi’s counted the profit.

This time, a total of 230,000 contribution was bet, and after handing over 30,000 of it to the winners, they made a total profit of 200,000 contribution points.

The profit Luc Xi and Lin Xin made went beyond their team’s total capital, and their amount of earnings were even greater than Long Haochen’s himself, who was the one directly involved in this. Luc Xi only got 20% of it, but even so, he gained 40,000 contribution points out of the change, whereas Long Haochen provided the members of his 21st general grade Demon Hunt Squad with very rich earnings, making the total amount of contribution points of their team surpass 300,000 contribution points.

Let alone general grade Demon Hunt Squads, even commander grade Demon Hunt Squads wouldn’t necessarily have so many contribution points gathered at the same time if they weren’t veterans.

“Rich, we have gotten rich for real this time! Wahah! Wahahahaha!!!” Lin Xin excitedly danced and gesticulated in joy. His dark green hair was flung from one side of his head to the other.

“Let’s go. We should head back. Today won’t do if we want to go to the Transaction Center.” Long Haochen waved his hand, picking up Cai’er and leading the group back to the villa. Having won so many contribution points belonging to another Demon Hunt Squad, this was obviously not a good time for them to go to the Transaction Center.

Luc Xi’s group left in great delight, feeling even more resolute to keep a good relationship with the 21st general grade Demon Hunt Squad from now on.

After Long Haochen’s group returned to the villa, seeing the excited Lin Xin, Long Haochen’s next words were, “From today onwards, everyone is forbidden to leave the villa. It’s self-training for the next ten days.”

Lin Xin started, “Boss, why so serious?”

Long Haochen coldly swept a glance at him, “If not for your betting stands, we wouldn’t have to get this serious.”

Han Yu reacted, “It was the general grade and soldier grade Demon Hunt Squads that participated in the bets that were laid. It seemed as if we cheated everyone else, and to them, a thousand contribution points is quite a huge number. Demon Hunt Squads should treat each other as friends, not enemies. The offense we committed was too heavy, I’m really afraid that we are going to get isolated for that.”

Chen Ying’er seemed unsatisfied, “So it means it’s okay if they win, but not if we are the ones to win?”

Long Haochen replied, “Although it won’t be as severe between the new Demon Hunt Squads like us, we should still stay low-key for now. Otherwise, being isolated won’t feel good to us. To put it simply, if all Demon Hunters stopped selling things to us, don’t you think we would get affected?”

Chen Ying’er pouted but stayed calm.

Long Haochen replied, “Our contribution points reached a total amount of 300,000, so that’s to say, we even possess enough contribution points to promote ourselves to the commander grade. You know about Cai’er’s condition. Until she gets better, I’d prefer to avoid taking missions, and wish that everyone would strengthen themselves during the next six months, striving for the sixth step. If we succeed, the next mission we will take will directly be at the level of a commander grade Demon Hunt Squad.”

“Sixth step?” Except for the deaf Cai’er, the other five suddenly looked fixedly at Long Haochen.

Lin Xin murmured to him, “Boss, that is impossible. We are only at the second or third rank of the fifth step. Even if we aimed for the sixth step, I’m afraid only vice-captain and you would have a chance of success. Let alone the time of passing the bottleneck before breaking through, half a year cannot possibly be enough for us to acquire the 4,000 units of spiritual energy we are lacking.”

Although Long Haochen was sufficiently acknowledged in the team, it was just too hard for the others to be convinced by his words. The leap from the fifth to the sixth step was after all a process of qualitative change.

Long Haochen looked at the whole group, declaring, “And what if we add up the Holy Spirit Pills? Now that we are in possession of 300,000 contribution points, considering that those Holy Spirit Pills cost 10,000 each, all of us should have the chance to take one. And the earlier it is taken, the more effective it will be. It’s perfectly suited to our current situation.”

Lin Xin smiled bitterly, “Boss, I know what you mean. But my previous statement already took the Holy Spirit Pills into account. Each Holy Spirit Pill will enable our spiritual energy to rise over 3,000 units, but I’m afraid that aiming for 4,000 units during the span of half a year will be very challenging. Moreover, I heard that the bottleneck between the fifth and the sixth step is a lot more challenging to pass than the previous ones. There are many people who stay at this bottleneck for several years without being able to break through it. How could we do it so easily?”

Long Haochen went silent, seemingly pondering over something.

Everyone was struck by Lin Xin’s words, and Sima Xian hurried to declare, “Boss, there’s no problem for us to train for a period of six months, and we’d progress as much as we can. Anyway, with so many contribution points in our possession, there won’t be any problem for us to wait for vice-captain to recover before going on the next mission.”

Long Haochen shook his head, “I have over 70% certainty that we can break through to the sixth step within a period of half a year. I’ve been thinking about it, and finally decided to share this information with you. However, I hope everyone will keep this secret. Otherwise, in case this gets out, it will give rise to great complications, and probably cause a public panic. If this happens, our Demon Hunt Squad won’t be able to keep existing.”

Everyone’s face immediately lost color at hearing this. Although Long Haochen’s words were always reasonable, since he took such a serious tone, this could only be a very serious matter.

Sima Xian looked pressed, and couldn’t help but ask, “Boss, what is it about, in the end?”

Wang Yuanyuan who didn’t mutter a single word until then suddenly raised her head, and asked, “Could it be related to the Desolate Hissing Cavern… That tower?”

Long Haochen silently nodded.

Han Yu took a deep breath, “Boss, I heard grandfather say that this tower was…” At this point, his words suddenly came to a stop, but with a resolute voice, he kept going, “I swear that I won’t leak out whatever secret Master tells us on this day. May heavenly punishment fall upon me, forbidding me eternally from reincarnating if i break this oath.”

The others also understood the gravity of the situation, and all of them aside from Cai’er swore an oath. They all realized the seriousness of this matter, while feeling the possibilities Long Haochen’s words promised.

Looking at everyone around him, Long Haochen said in a stern tone, “Like Yuanyuan guessed, I’m speaking about that tower. In fact, I had to tell a lie to Luc Xi as well as the Alliance. With Haoyue’s help, I made it into this tower, and discovered in it a great secret. This tower is called Tower of Eternal Rest.”

As he said so, he untied the front piece of his jacket, revealing the Pendant of Eternal Melody on his chest.

“The Tower of Eternal Rest, known as Tower of Eternity, is something left ten thousand years ago by a necromancer called Elux. This necromancer claims the title of Holy Necromancer and Slumbering Calamity. And this Tower of Eternity is filled with a powerful aura of death.”

Just like the Saint Knight Head Han Qian said, their team could be called a complete team of princes and princesses, thus their knowledge was naturally a lot better than that of other people.

Hearing the word ‘necromancer’ from Long Haochen’s own mouth, everyone couldn’t help but stare blankly. In the depths of their brains, a legend covered in dust seemed to instantly be recalled…

  • Juk

first haha!!! Thanks for the chapter!

    • Cyrs

      Shameless…

  • Alex Drake

Ha! Good on ya LHC you kept the points. And alright Tower reveal time!

  • Zero

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀

  • agila0212

Thank you for the chapter 🙂

  • agila0212

Thank you for the chapter 🙂

  • ShelfCloud

Thank you very much for the chapter!

So, what do you say about how Haochen wants everyone to reach the sixth step so quickly? Taking them to the tower was the first thing that came to my mind. But if he really can only access it when in the cavern, this seems rather unlikely. Furthermore Haochen said before that the trainig in the tower is still to hard for them at the moment. They need to get stronger first.

Perhaps it has something to do with the Pendant of Eternal Melody? But I am really not sure there.

    • Alex Drake

The tower likely can be summoned anywhere there’s room from the pendant

      • Kaarme

Even if that’s the case, they will still need to travel somewhere very remote. Not only to hide the tower from the leaders of the temples but to keep those shades guarding the tower from killing any outsiders, like half of the population of the city.

It would be simpler if instead Haochen could take his squad to the whatever dimension the tower is currently hiding in.

        • Alex Drake

Hmm fair point. It depends really if what is summoned is the whole tower or maybe just a door that leads into the tower. In which case maybe it would be contained.

          • Robin

Would be really practical and convenoient. Just summon a door in the villa to enter the tower of Eternal Rest. ^^

          • ShelfCloud

That would be really quite great and their future development would be limitless. But it still does not solve the problem that for now the undead there are too strong.

          • Robin

Yep, if you have seen the title of the next chap you can guess what they will do first.

          • ShelfCloud

True, although if what was said in chapter 246 is still true, tham that training should still not be enough: “This experience in the Tower of Eternity brought him an enormous shock, and he was also pretty curious about this ‘Slumbering Calamity’, Elux. However, he clearly understood that it would only be upon reaching the seventh step that he would really be qualified to attempt to challenge this tower that existed since thousands of years.”

But I guess we will find out next chapter.

          • Robin

Wait and see, it will be fun. ^_^

          • ShelfCloud

            I am waiting impatiently 😉
(Looking at the donation queue though, it seems likely that we will only have to wait until tomorrow)

          • Robin

You would need to wait until tomorrow anyways, even if the queue fills today since Toto works fast but is no wizard. 😉

          • ShelfCloud

Yeah, I know, I know 🙂 And I never meant to imply that a second chapter should come out today. Though if the queue is filled, we will not have to wait more than 24h.

          • Robin

If it fills before sometime tomorrow there is a chance for a release. So keep your fingers crossed! 😉

          • Jonathan Hurd

I would just like to say I find the possibility LHC has to go back to the cavern very small since the tower is no longer there. The Demon God Emperor confirmed this for us while talking to the Moon Demon God (he said he checked the place and it was empty so the thing killing the Fiend God’s men is probably a Demon Hunt Squad). As far as summoning the Tower to LHC I honestly don’t see the point. The only reason the Tower was out in the open was to try and attract the potential Successor. The Spirits attacking also was less of a defense mechanism and more the first test. Now that he has a confirmed disciple there is no reason for the tower to come to their reality anymore since LHC is linked to it through the Eternal Melody.

          • Robin

I have to agree. I still think this is too convenient and a little boring but since the author brought the tower as training ground back into the story this soon, it will probably turn out like you discribed it. The pendant will act as a magical entrance porting them into the dimension of the tower.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I understand how you feel, but I can’t imagine LHC using it to escape and this will also help them get stronger faster so we can get even cooler battles sooner in the future, :D. Also we might get to see more trials in the tower which I am personally looking forward to. Add to that we might also finally get Hao Yue’s evolution before the next time skip. 5 heads…. 5 heads…………

          • Luke Confidential

I’m still betting on Water and Earth to juxtapose Little Fire and Little Green.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Looking forward to that… so much…

          • Evilage

            Toto’s name is tony? :0
seriously tony you need to tell us more about yourself

          • Robin

            Typo ^^°

          • Evilage

            ahahahah
i just laughed my face off

          • Robin

            😛

          • Stephen_H

I think Chen Ying’er would be the most anxious, she can’t control her summoning until she is at the eight step right, a chance to rapidly grow would make her a beast

          • Daene Kendrick

I thought it was the seventh step

          • setyroth

Nobody is forcing them to fight the undead. Just sitting in the tower should be plenty helpful.

          • Robin

Unless they are attacked. I don’t think that it would be that easy. And I guess the level of difficulty of each test will be adjusted to the size of the group entering it.

          • ShelfCloud

Though I can not remember when it was mentioned that entering the tower without fighting will help the cultivation, I guess that would be a solution.

          • Robin

I think the aura of the tower gives a good cultivation environment but only fighting there and absorbing the energy of the skeletons will really be beneficial.

          • Daene Kendrick

The aura is good for cultivation, and the battles are for understanding your gains, increasing them through experience, and for LHC absorbing more energy from the trials

      • Robin

Yeah, we discussed about this already. As it is now it really is likely that the pendant can either transport them to the tower/inside the tower or it can be summoned. But I think the first option is more likely since it would be really obvious and conspicious if they summoned a tower in the yard of their villa.

      • ShelfCloud

This is definitely possible. Though we do not know yet for sure because
it was never really explained up until now. But even if it is so, as I
explained before, I still do not think that they will enter the tower for
now due to the power of the undeads there. So in my opinion there must
        be another way.

    • Cyrs

The tower can probably be accessed from anyway. And rather than summoning the entire tower, it might just teleport people to it( there is probably restrictions on this teleporting tho). Honestly…having to delve deep into demon territory, and descend deep into the earth just for training is a bit much.

    • setyroth

To my understanding he should be able to summon it anywhere.

Perhaps it has something to do with the Pendant of Eternal Melody? But I am really not sure there.

  • VanillaCustardPie

    Thank you~

  • setyroth

    Thanks for the chapter 😀

  • k1nk4

    thanks for the chapter!

  • Evilage

110,000 minus 500 contribution points were handed over, transferring into Long Haochen’s contribution point tile.
    hatsup to the authors laziness!
wow at this rate i bet haochen will reach the same rank as the DGE
Cai’er’s lack of reactions is sad for this novel

    • Kaarme

Yeah, it’s starting to really bother me that Cai’er might as well not be there at all. I hope we get a time jump soon.

      • Evilage

Yah Cai’er is the most important character in thos novel apart from haoyue

        • Jean charles

cai’er is dark attribute and the necromancer say that he not tolerate dark attribute in the tower.. maybe she cannot enter the tower.

          • Robin

So far it was never said that she possesses the darkness attribute.

          • Jean charles

now you mention that… it true 🙂

          • Evilage

Now that you mentioned it i’ve never heard darkness attribute in this novel yet
didnt Cai’er say that as long as the innate talents is not low anyone can become an assassin? Doesnt that mean darkness attribute isnt needed to become an assassin?

          • Robin

Yes, this is what it should mean. We never learned of any assassin possessing an attribute. I guess it is not decisive for them to become an assassin. Since they usually do not use flashy magical attacks (except maybe the use of high ranking stoves’ attacks) the attributes don’t seem to be in the focus of their arsenal of attacks.
Haoyue was of the darkness attribute and we learned later on that all the demons possess it. Even Yue Ye is of the darkness attribute. This is why Haochen could never heal her injuries.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I would say that i imagine Cai’er not having the darkness attribute because she has at least been covered with a holy mantle and healed with other Light Element spells. From what we understand of the Darkness attribute having that happen would kill someone like Yue Ye so I find the chances of Cai’er being darkness attribute very small.

        • Jonathan Hurd

Cai’er can’t see, talk, hear, or smell anything…. What kind of reaction is she supposed to have? What I do appreciate is that apparently LHC has told Cai’er everything that is going on and is always making sure she is taken care of currently. That is kind of adorable in its own way.

They will have a time jump soon, but we did need to know how LHC is going to use the Tower of Eternity. After that we will probably get our time jump after LHC manages to break through to 6th step.

          • Kaarme

That’s the exact problem: She’s in a condition preventing any reactions from her, and it’s bringing down the entertainment for me. I want to see the occasional Haochen+Cai’er flirting! She didn’t interact that much with the others, but that only made the few scenes all the better. Now they are missing as well. Not to mention I simply feel pity for her. Even if Haochen is carrying her around and writing on her palm, she’s still isolated.

          • Robin

There will most likely be a time gap and don’t you believe she has a lot to make good for after such a long time of being forcedly passive? They shared their first kiss under such conditions. As a girl I would want to share a real kiss with my beloved, especially after he took care for me like this. I bet there are a lot of cute scenes to come soon.

  • setyroth

I really hope that regardless of LHC’s response to Lin Xin’s question he starts necromancy in the 6 month training. I would be surprised if the author doesn’t take this opportunity.

    • Evilage

Knowing Haochen i bet he wouldnt
but boy, toto really knows how to make a teaser

      • Jonathan Hurd

I don’t know I mean the fact is the Necromancy itself is not evil. It depends on how you use it. I will admit he needs to get some understanding of soul energy before he feels okay with that, but even that might not be so bad especially if he just harvests demons souls.

        • Evilage

          Oh yes
raising the dead from the grave in order to fight for selfish reasons is not evil at all…

          • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair you don’t have to raise the dead selfishly or at all as Necromancer. You could do like they did in Lord of the Rings return of the king and call back ghosts to fulfill their duty and put their souls at rest. Again it is about how you use it. Necromancy doesn’t have to be inherently evil just like a sword can be used to defend the weak or to threaten them. Just matters the user.

          • Evilage

well i can say the same, the ghosts were forced to fight that battle since that was the way they can get peace or ascend to the other world. If they were given asked to freely fight the battle would they? i dont believe so
but then again even i believe that there are rare cases of using necromancy for good, but in my view it does more bad than good

          • Jonathan Hurd

I believe in the Lord of the Rings Aragorn did ask them. He was also giving them the chance to make up for their cowardice that had cursed them to live as ghosts to begin with. The choice to follow or not was theirs. He didn’t force them into the battle and their turning into ghosts was not caused by him or any outside forces. I believe it was the regret in their souls that held them back.

          • Cyrs

Really you can’t say that necromancy in this story is completely evil…because there is simply not enough information to verify that it is. You are even talking about traditional necromancy, and the author has already gone against tradition by introducing a holy necromancer. As a matter of fact, he has gone against tradition with many things in this story. So there is still a chance that LHC will learn some form of necromancy…without breaking his morals.

  • killerwakka1

I think LHC will bring them this spiritenergy liquid back until he thinks they can handle the fighting. Or an other theory I have since the tower is in an other dimension there could be timeflow differenz which lets them train more in the half year

    • Majk

Well they could fight in teams at the beginning since it’s possible that the fluid will only go to the person that deals the final blow because LHC got it back then but HY who helped him didn’t get any of it.

      • killerwakka1

but HY got the skill orb. So I think there are diffrent drops they can have I guess and the liquid is probaly the most common one

        • Luke Confidential

Did HY receive the skill orb? I thought Little Light downloaded the skill and then produced the orb for LHC.

I dont really feel like replyling to anyone so I will put this here:
It seems pretty clear to me that LHC can summon the door to the tower anywhere he wants as long as he has the pendant since the old necromancer even said that he can always access the tower to proceed with his challenge. The tower is in another dimension right now and considering how much effort was spent building it I doubt that someone as intelligent as the Holy necromancer would make in only accessible form 1 point in the world considering how many things could happen to prevent anyone from approaching it also remember when LHC first noticed soul power being taken from demons it went to the pendant which means that the pendant itself can bring things to the tower.

On a side note I realize that when people say summon the tower they don’t mean it literally but I cant get the image of LHC summoning it in their villa completely destroying it by accident.

    • Jonathan Hurd

Yeah I’m in agreement on the pendants usage. I mean we have already been shown that in the old era they had the ability to teleport to an artificially made space. That was what the Alliances Treasury is. Add in that Elux’s Tower has now disappeared from the physical location (confirmed by the Demon God Emperor’s scouting the cave and finding nothing) it makes sense for the pendant to work as a key to portal to the tower in its own separate dimension.

Also considering Elux assumed that his Successor would still be hunted by the Radiant Church it seems stupid for him to force his apprentice to run to a physical location in which he could be ambushed. To me personally they’ve shown they have the tech and it makes sense in the story.

      • dreamer

        Like doraemon’s anywhere door?

  • Majk

Am I the only one considering what will happen if he brings Cai into the tower? I mean isn’t she a dark attribute user? I know that its not required to be an assassin but I since everyone has an affinity to some element I feel like (since I don’t remember if it was mentioned) that she is dark or at least her stove should be. Even if her skills dont use darkness directly the tower only detects a person’s affinity so I have a bad premonition about this.

The second they enter the tower will check them and the old necro even warned LHC to not bring anyone with that attribute to the tower since he hates them and it could trigger some sort of trap.

    • Robin

Why do you all think that he possesses the darkness attribute? I can’t remember that it was ever said she does, and only because she wears black and assassins are connected with night and darkness this doesn’t need to be her attribute.

      • Stephen_H

Fair point, I wonder what her attribute would most likely be if not the Dark attribute?

        • Robin

I am not sure. Wind would be possible, seeing that she can move really fast and swiftly.

          • Stephen_H

Does anyone know what exactly are the nine elements ? These are the ones I remember explicitly being mentioned.
            Holy; Dark; Light; earth; wind

          • Robin

You skipped fire and spacial. And logically there must be water as well. And wasn’t Li Xin’s magician friend who didn’t qualify for the DHS competition of the ice attribute? I think I remember something like this.

      • Majk

Well yeah I Said that I dont think that way because she is an assassin and I didn’t even consider her clothes but what attribute would you give her? I mean seriously for what we saw I would say darkness or maybe ice

        • Robin

Ice would also fit her personality. I never really thought about this. But I can’t imagine it being darkness which would put her in the same boat as demons and probably ban her from the tower.

          • Renegade

            But wouldn’t darkness be it?

She has killing intent and area around her aura turns dark quite a bit when fighting.

Cai’er = dark and LHC = light equals ying and yang.

          • Robin

As mentioned above, darkness can’t bear light. Remember how Haoyue suffered under Haochen’s light element while he was changed? Cai’er would be repelled by Haochen’s element when he uses Holy Mantles or other abilities. And she would have never been able to stay close to him while he fused with Yating and emenated light like a fountain water.

    • Zhalfirin

No one in the Temple Alliance has a dark attribute.

They view the dark attribute as a trait synonymous to demon’s and their kin, and while I don’t think they would persecute a (human) person who held the dark attribute they would let them join the alliance.

There is also the problem that the dark attribute and light attribute naturally oppose each other and thus a person with a dark attribute would be damaged by any light element spell be it a buff or even a heal. That’s why Yue Ye refused healing from Luc Xi. If Cai’er had a dark attribute she wouldn’t be able to be healed by any of the Demon Hunter squad members, but we have seen that she has, so therefor Cai’er doesn’t have a dark attribute.

If I had to put money on what attribute she does have I would say Spacial, like the mage in the 4th soldier squad.

      • Robin

Good reasoning. But I don’t agree on the spacial attribute. There has always been a special silver light effect described whenever the spacial attribute was used. But it was never mentioned in relation to Cai’er. If she were of the spacial attribute it would surely have been at least hinted at. Additionally, i think the spacial attribute is more for summoners or mages.

        • dreamer

since she healed hao chen in the past twice (after battle with yang wenzhao and her stab), doesn’t it make her possessed light attribute?

          • Robin

Not necessarily. She gave him her energy to help him recuperate, but she didn’t really use a healing spell. Haochen on the other hand used several Holy Mantles on her which would be impossible for her to bear if she were of the darkness attribute.

      • setyroth

Her attribute is probably just “death”, which would be quite interesting if it turns out that way in combination with LHC necromancer business.

      • Austin Griffin

Only knights, mages, and priest have a definite attribute. The other three occupation can have attribute but they don’t need to have them. They are mostly likely attribute less.

    • Rengel Sia

Hmmn., if Haoyue uses multiple affinity with dark affinity at the same time, shouldn’t he be trapped also? And LHC also has Haoyue’s blood, means LHC has some dark affinity. Hmmn.

      • Robin

Haoyue was cleansed and changed to the light attribute. It seems like the light is stronger than darkness, or it is at least sufficient to cover the darkness that remains in him. Although I am not sure if the violet energy really stems from the darkness attribute. It could also simply be his inborn power transcending the principle of attributes. Really strong power could do the trick, especially since we know how powerful he is supposed to be in his final form.

    • Rengel Sia

hmmn. I recall, they didn’t mention dark attribute, but killing intent materializing. So Death attribute might be the answer.

      • Robin

So far there was no death attribute mentioned but it would fit. When she gets serious, she is the personification of death. ^.^

    • Rengel Sia

Anyway, I read just now in Ch.244, that one of the utilities of eternal melody, is that it could distinguish a friend or foe, this would be sufficient info, if Cai er where to get in trouble if she enters the tower of eternal reat, 🙂

  • Renegade

HAHA! Bro with drugs is freaking awesome! Talk about being a real miser – god of wealth.

    • Allstarall

Big brother has drugs also has money! For making more drugs!

  • ShelfCloud

Hmm, I think I found a little mistake the author made in the chapter. It is said here, that they have more thann 300,000 contribution points. But shouldn’t it be actually more than even 400,000?

They got 70% from 200,000 for completing the mission.
    20,000 for killing many demons.
100,000 for the victory against the warrior.
And 80% from 200,000 due to the betting stand.

    All in all this makes:
    140,000 + 20,000 + 100,000 + 160,000 = 420,000 points in total

    Or did I forget something?

    • Robin

No, I think you are right. There seems to be a mistake in the authors novel since it is repeated several times as 300,000 which doesn’t make sense as you pointed out.

      • junjoy

true. but i wanted to know how much is the upgrade from general to commander grade. so i know how much they have after advancement

        • Robin

As far as I know it takes 100,000 contribution points to upgrade from general to commander grade. And of course all the members of the squad need to be at the 6th step.

          • dreamer

if that’s the case, then can we say that the author mean that they save the 100k for upgrade fee so it’s not calculated as?

          • ShelfCloud

Good thought. That would make sense.

If it is not the case though, I hope the author will not simply forget the 100k points. That would be quite the waste.

          • Robin

It would be. It IS possible that he alreaddy took this price they will surely safe aside, but seing that he is a little careless and lazy with numbers it could be a mistake as well. We will probably need to ask Toto about this.

          • Robin

It seems the number really excludes the 100,000 CPs for the next rank up. At least this wsa Toto’s guess as well.

          • ShelfCloud

Oh okay. Thanks for asking. That makes everything a lot clearer.

          • Robin

It is only an asumption as well but it makes the most sense.

          • junjoy

meaning that 5th brother’s team is still in debt by 10k. lol

    • Robin

And they didn’t even sell all the stuff they collected and can’t make into pills yet…

  • Blaxus

    Lmao, once again,

  • kirindas

    Thanks for the new chapter!

  • lordcattank

thank you very much for the chapter

  • gundam_man

cool so now his whole squad will have the second class of necromancer

    • dreamer

Since they grown up under the doctine of the alliance, I doubt it.

      • Luke Confidential

It could conceivably go either way, or it may be that the only other member of the squad really qualified is Sima Xian [Han Yu has similar affinity to Light but is more martially oriented, an issue LHC overrides with the sheer depth of his Light Affinity]

        • dreamer

Since sima is considered as holy berserker and han yu role is support healing and as back guard, won’t it the other way arround?

          • Robin

Not necessarily, they both seem to be equally talented regarding their initial level of energyy before the upgrade. If I remember correctly there was only one level difference between the two, but not more than 5 levels. But I would guess they both qualify for the path as holy necromancer.

          • Luke Confidential

Not necessarily. Sima Xian can’t learn healing spells, but he has learned at least one traditional priest magic [that light bullet thing.]

  • Indream

Wasn’t it 400k total points? 140k from mission, 160k from bets, 100k for winning duel.
    P.S. Thanks for the chapter.

    • Evilage

I was thinking the same thing

    • Diego Portela

By my calculations, 440k. Wasn’t 200k from te bets?
Math probably isn’t the author strong point…
“This time, a total of 230,000 contribution was bet, and after handing over 30,000 of it to the winners, they made a total profit of 200,000 contribution points.”

      • Diego Portela

I forgot about the 20% por the other team… So u are right.. 🙂

    • Robin

It probably really excludes the 100,000 CPs set aside for the next rank up.

  • setyroth

A thought. Assuming they just teleport to the tower via LHC, which appears to be the popular opinion so far (rather then the tower teleporting to them). Then whats to stop LHC going to Hao Yue’s world then teleporting them out of the tower and into that world? Even if they were to be required to teleport the tower itself, since the tower phases outside of normal space it should be possible to teleport the tower there with them in it.

    • Robin

This is an interesting idea. A little like cheating, added to the fact that I want Haochen to battle the undead with necromancer skills! But not impossible at this point.

  • ZaX

Achievement for fastest rank up ever? Thanks for the chapter

  • Anto Wibowo

    Thank you for the chapter!

  • Dragon

Ha this chapter was just too funny the money dance was just too funny (contribution point equal money) but think LCH will have big trouble with the 8th squads captain when he get out of his training.

    • Robin

The possibility will be high that there will be trouble in the future. It all depends on how the three will explain the matter to their team members. If they are honest the others MIGHT let it slip since it was their own mistake and shame. They could still try to strike a deal but the longer they wait the smaller the chance that Haochen’s squad didn’t spend the points.
If they lie about the events to their team members it would get really interesting…

      • ShelfCloud

I actually would like to see the captain challenging Haochen. At least after the following training session, he should no longer be a problem. This could become quite entertaining 😉

        • Robin

I agree. This would be fun. And the lying members then would be up for more than a spanking. But I can’t imagine them increasing their shame in this way. This would be too pitiful, trying to cheat juniors, losing AND lying about it.

          • ShelfCloud

True, that would be really too shameful. But the captain could still ask for a duel – or perhaps even better: a team battle – to have a chance to win the points back. There is still a lot of potential.

          • Robin

I would totally be in favor for this. 😉

          • Stephen_H

Team Battle after everyone has gone through 6 months of necro power up training……and Cai’er back to full strength……”I pity the fools”

          • Robin

Especially after they didn’t succeed to break through to the sixth step after fife years of battling and cultivating. Haochen’s group is together like under a year.

          • ShelfCloud

I don’t pity them XD Especially if they should fight and then again only ask afterwards what rank they have.

  • Jonathan Hurd

Am I the only one who thinks Yang Whenzhao’s and Dian Yi’s bets are just so stupid…

If Fifth brother won at the rates they get their 10k back and add on 333 points. They lose 300 that they bet on LHC.

If LHC wins they gain 3.3k but lose 10k…

The best case scenario they can get 33 points…. Why even bet when the best case scenario is 33 points O.o. That is the stupidest risk I can imagine. I would put maybe a 100 points on LHC as a show of faith/long shot and end it there.

    • Luke Confidential

Clearly mathematics isn’t a subject considered important by alliance bigwigs for martial occupations in general.

    • Rudeus Greyrat

The author probably didn’t think things through. He didn’t do the actual calculations and he assumed that no one else would. He obviously didn’t expect to find you reading his works hehehe

    • Calcifer

What are you guys talking about!? You’re saying they should have only bet 100 points on LHC but that is what they did. Lin Xin from ch 270 “Those two have certainly betted a hundred contribution point on us, but each of them has also betted 10,000 contribution points on this fifth brother. And now, they want to go back on the deal? They should better have thought it through earlier.” Originally they only bet 100 and with 1:30 got 3000 back but lost 10,000 bet on other team so net loss was 7000. When did it ever say they bet 300?

      • Jonathan Hurd

My bad on the 300 it is 100. so they got 3100 back while losing 10k. Honestly it still stands that the best they can get out of this deal is 33 points… In worst case they lose 7k points. This kind of risk seems pretty stupid to me personally. I would have just put up the 100 on LHC and said hell to it. Covering the spread in this way is just dumb.

    • setyroth

I’m not sure if its confirmed the 1:30 applied to the other bet too. Maybe that was just a simple 1:2 ratio. So if you bet on Haochen you would get 30x back but if you bet on 5th brother you would just get 2x back. Their 10k would then be 20k (a sizable increase for them).

I think its very unlikely for the 30:1 ratio to apply to 5th brother. Is that even a bet? Who bets in fractional values.

      • Calcifer

The ratio doesn’t change that way with the person you bet on. If LHC has a 30:1 ratio then fifth brother has 1:30. Profit = Stake (a*b). That’s why they weren’t worried about losing a lot of money.

Yang Wenzhao from 269 “Rest at ease, Lin Xin is very crafty and opened the stakes at one against thirty. That’s to say, if you lose, it’s just a thirtieth part. Thus, you shouldn’t have too much to compensate.”
They only have to pay back the original bet plus 1/30.

Looking at this chapter reads ‘This time, a total of 230,000 contribution was bet, and after handing over 30,000 of it to the winners, they made a total profit of 200,000 contribution points.’ If the winnings only mounted to 30,000 then that means at 30:1 about 1,000 points was placed on them to win which makes sense as fifth brother was favored highly to win and even Yang Wenzhao and Duan Yi who know LHC were only willing to bet 100 each on him. the 1000 with 30:1 became 30,000 to pay back.

This means original bets against LHC is about 229,000. at 1:30 for fifth brother even if they had lost it would only have been the original bet plus 229,000*(1/30)=7633. That’s why Wenzhao reassured them they wouldn’t lose too much.

However LHC was confident in winning. the real reason he was worried about the betting was making enemies by taking so many contribution points from other groups after winning.

this is why Lin XIn restricted each bet. from 270 “Don’t worry boss, I know what I am doing. Anyway, the whole amount of everyone’s bet was restricted to at most 10,000 contribution points.”

Look at what happens this chapter as LHC is telling them to stay in the villa because of all the money they made. If they had let bets be even higher they would be attracting too much attention and anger especially since the fight was so one-sided despite the odds favoring fifth brother.

People were still willing to bet against such odds because they all believed LHC had no chance and was an easy way to make some money. They would have bet more than 10,000 in order to make even more money but that was the limit of the bet they could make. It’s only natural that Yang Wenzhao and Duan Yi bet the max against the favored winner and only hedged their bet of LHC at 100 just in case he won they wouldn’t be out 10,000. if fith brother had won they would get their original 10,000 back plus 10,000(1/30)=333. this is also what Jonathan Hurd said originally and was correct. However as they only bet 100 they would at most make 233 points from betting this way. Although it is not a lot but everyone thought LHC had no way to win and was even being tricked into fighting so why not make some points off it.

  • Rengel Sia

I do recall Asura strike was not a self-created technique by LHC, but a technique he got from beating the skeletons from eternal rest. Hmmn. Can somebody recall too?

    • Renegade

I thought it was a skill he learned after defeating them. Didn’t Haoyue spit it out to him?

      • Robin

Yes, it was the strike they used against Haochen and Haoyue recorded it for him so he could learn it. I guess there will be more techniqques for him to be learned on the way through the tower.

    Thanks for the chapter!

Random question – how are other people keeping track of updates on this site? Usually for wordpress sites there’s a follow by email option or something, but that seems to have broken on this site a few months back and I don’t see an rss feed either…

    • Evilage

If the chapter is sponsored check after 24 hours
if the chapter is standered then it’ll be out in 2-3 days
checking it like this is how i keep track of this novel
i dont believe there is any other way

    • Robin

You see the count for donated chapters above? As long as it shows a number above 0 you can expect a chapter every 24h. If it is 0 you best check every 3 days. This is mostly the pace the release works. Until the server fixed this bug you will have to cope with it. This is at least better than the site crashing every time for several hours after a release.

      • Thor

I was hoping for a more automatic approach for notifying of releases – I know the sponsor system but I’m lazy lol, and forget to check on that with each release. Also, I feel like I’d just forget to check the next day.

I was just curious if anyone had a different approach than just check site occasionally for releases.

Yeah, the site crashing from a while back wasn’t fun, though there are ways for the site owner to deal with those sorts of things – Look at Wuxiaworld, it gets quite a bit more traffic than this site and still manages to stay alive. I imagine that’s a good amount of work though for each blog owner to do though, which is why quite a few blogs are consolidating a whole lot of different series on one site (i.e. Gravity Tales, or Wuxiaworld).

        • Robin

You can use a speed dial function for your browser and set it on automatic update. Then you should see if there is something new on the site when the linked dial picture shows something different. You would need to use the front page where Toto announces the new releases with the links to the chaps to see a visible change. It is at least a more systematic approach. 😛

True, those really big sites work probably more stable, but don’t forget that this is a small one person project. Toto enjoys having his own page for releases and interaction with the readers, but still, he is one person translating everything on his own with only two editors supporting him at the moment. Also conglomerates like Wuxia have a much bigger funds to pay for server performance and services. And probably also have people who only work on the technical aspects to keep everything up and running. The time such maintenance consumes is probably comparably high.

    • Alex Drake

      rss feeds are your firend

  • Matt

Honestly, I don’t see why it’s so important that Long Haochen keep this a secret.
One, the Necromancers might have helped weaken humanity, but it takes 2 to fight. This Radiant Church also has to take some of the blame. Two, necromancy is only a vocation. Even if the ancient necromancers helped weaken humanity thousands of years ago, that’s their sin, and humanity needs every weapon it can get to fight the demons. Three, LHC didn’t even WANT to take the pendant. It was basically forced on him, it’s not his fault he became a Necromancer’s apprentice. And four, he is one of humanity’s two greatest hopes. The temple alliance should be going out of their way to accommodate him. All in all, I don’t see a single valid reason to punish him for this.

    • Jonathan Hurd

The big thing to remember is that there were two parties blamed for humanities down fall, Demons and Necromancers. The Demons still being around is bad enough, but if people think Necromancers are coming back their natural reaction is going to be fear of another civil war. Sadly if it came to that even with LHC’s status as Scion of Light there would still be people wanting to just nip it in the bud by killing him. This of course could lead to its own civil war in the Knight Temple and the whole Temple Alliance.

The other big problem is LHC still lacks a great deal of information about this Slumbering Calamity Elux. Remember Elux is treating him nicely because he thinks LHC is already a Necromancer. We have no clue how Elux is going to react to finding out Necromancers are currently extinct and about the demon threat.

Overall keeping the Tower and LHC’s ability to become a Necromancer a secret for now is the right choice. LHC doesn’t have enough clout yet being only 5th step to convince people. The release of this information needs to be done carefully as well to avoid a mass panic. When later LHC shows himself to be a great help to humanity and a valuable asset, only then will it probably be safe for him to release the info about Necromancers and expect to be listened to.

    • Kaarme

Haochen didn’t get where he is by being schooled and pampered by the temple. In fact the temple brass didn’t even know of his existence before he was already quite an asskicker, relatively speaking. That’s how he has continued ever since. He’s already his own man (and Cai’er’s, but that’s a different matter). If he told everything about the tower and the necromancers to the leadership, there would be those who would try to control him and tell him what to do, what not to do. Some might even want to extract the amulet out of his chest.

Haochen found the tower and got accepted by it. It’s up to him what to do about it. That’s the modus operandi of the whole temple alliance in any case. The demon hunters stick to their own techniques, weapons, and other gear. They aren’t obligated to share the spoils.

  • Schattenbach

I wonder how their reaction is going to be if he told them that he actually already fought against one (dark elemental) necromancer as well as that Haoyue’s world is populated by quite a few of these …

    • Evilage

      Wasnt it a lich?
lich’s and necromancers are totally different
i believe the tower was the first time he ever met a necromancer

      • Schattenbach

That lich’s using necromancy, though (like that skeleton king). Those that didn’t escape Haoyue’s world (and it was said that only the strong ones escaped) died and/or turned into undead.

        • Evilage

I dont remember anything mentioning that lich using necromancy
there are other ways to turn into an undead without the use of necromancy
          for example a lich

He was using “undead magic” to directly attack Haochen … as well as for those skeletons and the creation of the skeleton king, I guess.

From what I have seen so far from different novels and stories, a Lich is a Necromancer who has reached a state were they abandon their own flesh and blood, basically a Lich is a undead Necromancer. Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s how I’ve understood it.
