Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 264

Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 264: Return? Mission Complete? (II)

“What? 200,000 contribution points?! Isn’t there a mistake?” When the group of thirteen heard the staff member, even the good tempered Long Haochen immediately cried out in surprise. Their expressions were incomparably unsightly, whereas Long Haochen coldly stood there, looking at the staff member facing him, and declared in an extremely serious tone, “I hope the Mission Tower can give us an explanation. Don’t tell me that you didn’t expect that such an irresponsible handling of missions would cost us our lives.”

Luc Xi’s expression was even more unsightly. Slapping the top of the sales counter, he declared loudly, “Oh heavens. Bastards! Bunch of bastards! What a nonsensical mission. Is this how you are handling the distribution of our missions? What if we died at the hands of the demons?! If you don’t have a good justification, I will never let you off.”

The staff member facing them was the same as the one who assigned Long Haochen’s group the mission to explore the Desolate Hissing Cavern, but seeing thirteen young Demon Hunters in such a frenetic state, he immediately had a flustered reaction.

“Everyone please calm down. This mission’s rating was a mistake from us, and though it is our fault, there isn’t anything we can do about this anymore. The Mission Tower is ready to compensate you for this, and will hand over a reward of 20,000 contribution points even if you have failed.”

Unfortunately, this staff member had still looked down on these youths’ bearing.

Chen Ying’er replied with a cold smile, “Do you think 20,000 contribution points would be enough to make us leave? You bunch of schemers. Captain, we shouldn’t hand in our mission report now. Let’s head to the Government Office. I’ll look for my grandmother. Lin Xin, you too should look for your grandfather there. ”

Long Haochen silently led the group to the exit, and the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad followed by habit. Under Luc Xi’s lead, they followed behind and left the Mission Tower.

That staff member’s face was quite pale, “What should we do? Things will get out of hand…” Although he wasn’t directly responsible for the wrong labeling of the mission, he was the one who assigned the mission, and furthermore, after discovering the problems with it, he evaded responsibility and didn’t report properly about his mistake. At that time, he believed that it was merely a newly-formed Demon Hunt Squad, which wouldn’t respond excessively upon discovering a mistake in the mission’s labeling. How could he know that this new Demon Hunt Squad could be called a bunch of little princes and princesses, who immediately reacted to this affront.

Not daring to slack off any longer, the staff member hurriedly reported to his higher-ups.

After exiting the Demon Hunt Squad Mission Tower, the cold wind sobered them up. Long Haochen looked at Cai’er who was lying in his arms and a surge of rage welled up in him. If not for the mistake with the mission’s labeling, how would Cai’er be in such a state? This was definitely something he wouldn’t let slip by.

That he had a kind heart didn’t mean that he was meek. On the contrary, Long Haochen’s character was not as upright and outspoken as his looks were good. As a captain, if he baulked at such matters, how could he command his team in the future?

Luc Xi went to Long Haochen’s side, “Captain Long, what should we do now? Are you really planning to head to the Government Office? We are just two new Demon Hunt Squads, whereas the Mission Tower is the most important component of the Alliance. I’m afraid the Alliance won’t be inclined to hear us out.”

Long Haochen took a deep breath, “The Alliance won’t treat us that coldly.

You may head back, Captain Luc. Leave this matter to us and we will notify you when we get news, how about it?”

Luc Xi’s expression changed, “Captain Long, what do you say? Do you really think we plan on cowering in front of the authorities after having risked our lives in the demon territory? Since we are seeking justice, we should do it as a team.”

After he said this, the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad immediately became excited. They were afraid of seeing Luc Xi cower right after the battle, which would just be a loss of face for them! Without those partners from the 21st Demon Hunt Squad, they wouldn’t have made it back alive.

“Let’s go then.” Long Haochen waved his hand, leading the group of thirteen to the Alliance’s Government Office.

In fact in this Holy City, the Government Office was the core element of the whole Alliance’s administration. Coming here to claim justice was the same as giving a good slap to the Mission Tower. It required courage not everyone would have.

Although Long Haochen was furious, he was still sober-headed, and gave it a good thought before directly going to the Government Office. Aside from the Alliance’s Government Office, who else could be a match for the Demon Hunt Mission Tower? The majestic position of the tower wasn’t something that could be easily shaken by this little group.

The Alliance’s Government Office wasn’t far from the Demon Hunt Mission Tower, and they quickly arrived at its entrance.

In spite of her young age, Chen Ying’er had the worst temperament at such times, “Captain, how should we go about it?”

Long Haochen replied in a deep voice, “We will be waiting in the entrance of the Government Office, until the Alliance make amends.”

“What? Just that!?” Chen Ying’er looked unsatisfied. Wasn’t this behaviour too passive?

However, Long Haochen next motion shocked everyone else. This captain of the 21st general grade Demon Hunt Squad immediately sat cross-legged in front of the entrance of the Alliance’s Government Office. Cai’er sat at his lap, safely held in his embrace. The location he chose was only three meters away from the gate of the office, and although he didn’t block the entrance, this positioning could only be described as aggressive.

At the entrance of the Alliance’s Government Office stood two guards, who looked stupefied at this scene. Seeing this group of youngsters sit down, they didn’t believe their eyes.

So there actually exist people who would dare to protest at the gate of the Alliance’s Government Office? Have they taken the wrong medicine?

Under the shocked gaze of the guards, the group of thirteen gathered in a row, almost blocking the entrance of the gate.

“What are you doing?” The two guards asked after coming closer.

Long Haochen raised his hand and showed them their Demon Hunt Squad insignia.

“The 21st general grade Demon Hunt Squad comes with sincerity, asking for an account from the Alliance.”

Luc Xi also took out the insignia of the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad, and the two guards that were originally prepared to act immediately stopped in their tracks. Of course, they understood the importance Demon Hunt Squads possessed. Almost all the higher-ups of the Alliance had belonged to Demon Hunt Squads after all! For a moment, they really didn’t dare act against these youths.

The two of them looked at each other face to face, and a guard rushed out to confront them, knitting his brows and speaking to them, “If you have something to say, then say it. What’s with the protest?”

Although he was only a guard, this one was over forty years-old, and when he spoke, he had a strong attitude.

Unfortunately, his threat was almost nonexistent, and Long Haochen’s group of thirteen didn’t pay any attention to him, not moving an inch from there.

The Alliance’s Government Office being in the very middle of Holy City, Long Haochen and the others attracted all the surrounding gazes by performing such a stunt, but because of the Alliance’s prestige, no one dared to come too close.

A short time later, a black silhouette rapidly rushed out from the Government Office, and the one who came was no one else but the Auxiliary Master of the Assassin Temple, Ying Suifeng.

He happened to be there at the right timing, having just run into the guards, who hurriedly told him about the happenings at the entrance.

Ying Suifeng wondered just who could that be so daring! To have enough guts to block that door, even if the Demon Hunt Squads had a prestigious position, it didn’t mean that they could damage the Alliance’s face! Imagining this gave rise to concern, what kind of image would they have if every Demon Hunt Squad did a boycott at the Temple Alliance’s Government Office’s entrance after the slightest grievance? What sort of scandal would that be? Thus, he was in an absolute rage when he came out.

But he was immediately astonished upon seeing that those who were sitting at the doorway were precisely Long Haochen and Cai’er.

“Long Haochen, what are you doing here? Just what the hell? Stand up immediately!” Ying Suifeng unhappily shouted at him.

Long Haochen resolutely shook his head and replied, “If the Alliance doesn’t make amends, I won’t move an inch.”

“Bullshit, what do you want us to make amends for? Stand up and tell me clearly about it.” Ying Suifeng looked furious, especially at seeing that this youngster came to cause trouble. They were a newly formed Demon Hunt Squad! It was clear that they were intentionally harming the Temple Alliance’s face. Ying Suifeng didn’t know about those kids’ story, so he immediately felt furious.

Nonetheless, he still didn’t immediately pull Long Haochen up forcefully, since Cai’er was after all right nearby.

Long Haochen said in a serious tone, “Hall Master Ying, we wish for you to fully understand our situation before lashing out at us. You have been Cai’er’s guardian for a long time now, but do you know that if not for the extremely good luck we had, even she wouldn’t have made it back alive to be sitting here?”

Hearing him say that, Ying Suifeng’s anger immediately puttered out, tensely wrinkling his brows, “What happened?”

Luc Xi’s group also saw Ying Suifeng, and seeing how this Hall Master changed his speech upon hearing Long Haochen’s words, all of them couldn’t help but loosen their breaths.

Long Haochen composed himself with great difficulty, and told him calmly about everything that happened before.

This time, Ying Suifeng’s expression changed greatly, “Bastards, these bastards of the Mission Tower. After having done such a thing. Rest at ease, this matter will definitely be accounted for. I pledge you this on my name as the Assassin Temple’s Auxiliary Hall Master. Children, you should get up first. This is after all the entrance of the Government Office. Follow me in.”

Hearing Long Haochen’s words, Ying Suifeng’s back was drenched with sweat! The others didn’t know anything, but how could it be the same for him? Although Long Haochen’s Demon Hunt Squad was leaps away from being called powerful, what combination did they form? The grandeur of the Scion of Light and the Saint Daughter of Samsara was sufficient to make this matter a huge scandal to their two Temples. Moreover, the others of their team weren’t easy to deal with either.

Long Haochen silently nodded, holding Cai’er to help her stand up, “Then I will be begging for your help, Hall Master Ying.” Their protest at the entrance was only for the Government Office to pay attention to them, and not because they wanted to look for trouble here. Since Ying Suifeng already knew about them, he would naturally show consideration for them.

  • gabe

    thanks

  • Jonathan Hurd

    Thank You Totobro, :D.

There is going to be blood, hahaha! I love that the first person found was Ying Suifeng. Shit is going down!

    • Evilage

Just suifeng? Oh no, i’m pretty sure shen yue and grandpa yang(forgot the other part of his name) will be seriously angry in the matter
grandpa yang can be considered as haochens godfather as xingyu asked him to take care of his safety
if he died and what face would the old man give to xingyu?
he shall be angry as hell

      • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair if the first person to find out was Shen Yue there would just be blood. He would find someone and put them six feet in the ground. After that he would then start asking questions, lol.

        • Robin

Yeah, it was probably better that way. Sheng Yue would have slaughtered his way through the tower before asking questions. Ying Suifeng is at least still able to think despite his wrath.

        • Nikola Mircevski

          RIP Receptionist

  • Gohankuten

Can’t wait to see how this storm hits lol.

  • Laifon

Thanks for the Chapter. Can’t wait to see what will happen xD

  • Carlos Jose Barva Serrato

thanks great chapter waiting for more

  • profound mystery

    THanks for the chapter

  • k1nk4

    thanks for the chapter!

  • Exia1111

Thanks for the chapter! Can’t wait to see what the Alliance Temple does to the Mission Tower ^^

  • Daniel Niv

That chapter was strangely amusing and hilarious lol. Seeing our MC actually complaining so vehemently was quite nice. 😀 That was fun!

I also can’t wait for the storm to wreck. 😀

    • Jonathan Hurd

As he said if he doesn’t stick up for his team in this kind of situation how could he continue to be their captain. Also if it was a normal mission how could Cai’er be hurt that much. LHC not letting that go.

  • agila0212

Thank you for the chapter 🙂

  • Captain Facts

Yeah…20K and an apology is really~ not gonna work. And is kind of a dick move.

Besides, the receptionist didn’t even report this mixup?! That a squad was on a mission VASTLY more difficult than it was thought to be?!

    Headsergonnaroll, brah.

  • Kmaster

Wow thanks so much for the chapter.
I really can’t wait for the next update.

  • Majk

Well gramps is on the war path now so there is no saving for the fool that didn’t even report such a huge mistake

  • Ragnarok

Grandaddy Sheng is going to open a can of whoop ass if he hears about this. I kinda hope he does. Grampa Sheng = Shit -> Fan

    • Oddmoonlight

      He just did from LHC.

      • Schattenbach

Her grandfather still hasn’t heard about it …

        • Jonathan Hurd

Yeah I mentally mixed up Suifang and grandpa Sheng in my head too. I think Grandpa Sheng is still in the Exorcist Mountain Pass. While Suifang is the 8th step leader of the assassin’s temple for the alliance.

          • Nikola Mircevski

Ye there isnt a trail of corpses still so he doesnt know

  • Inuzuka

Hah, 3 of the 7 members of Long Haochen’s squad are directly related to the 6 Temple Hall Masters.

    • Oddmoonlight

Redo that head count, it’s 4 not 3. Mage, summoner, assassin and knight temple. Then add a certain MC parent being 1 of few thrones, you could consider it 5 people. Poor desk.

      • Kevin Cazad

That’s right because Han Yu the backup knight is the son (grandson?) to a higher up so yeah both knights in the team plus the summoner and assassin are basically royalty lol.

        • Jonathan Hurd

Add in that their warrior is the grand daughter of the former leader of the warriors temple and the only heir to that Soul Shattering Shield. Also add that Yin Er is technically Yang Wenzhao’s fiance. That means it’d be pretty easy to get grandpa Yang in to kick ass.

Yeah their entire team(admittedly excluding Sima Xian) is just one giant mass of people you don’t want to annoy because of who they have backing them.

          • Nikola Mircevski

Ye but we dont know Sima Xian’s mom who is of the priest temple. She could be holding a high ass position there

          • Luke Confidential

I’m pretty sure we do know and she DOES hold a high position there.

He’s just a bit of a black sheep due to his flaws as a priest.

  • Ragnarok

Every Alliance bigwig would go bonkers after hearing about the 2 with the most potential nearly dying due to some mission tower fuckup

  • Alex Drake

Sweet god heads are going to ROLL!

  • Exia1111

2 Squads, 2 lifetime legend talents, Couple direct descendants of Alliance Leaders sent straight to the hell furnace all because of one lazy bastard. Consider the receptionist eternally screwed for life and the mission tower in shambles and tears lol

    • Luke Confidential

Isn’t it actually 3 lifetime legend talents? [Two of which are essentially Millenial talents.] Chen Ying-er’s Body Of Chaos is supposed to be extremely rare as well, though to a lesser degree.

      • Nikola Mircevski

But imagine when in the future Lin Xin Learns combat magic and gets over it. He is considered a great mage as is…. and lets not forget Longs Mount. That is supousedly more powerfull than the demon Emperor when it evolves to its final stage and then fuses with long……

        • Luke Confidential

I wasn’t counting them because they aren’t recognized by the Alliance for their potential. The mount is ‘just a mount’ [albeit a very good one, nobody anticipates Hao Yue’s ability to acquire more heads in the future. Except perhaps LHC and Li Xin] and Lin Xin is just ‘trash’ who refuses to learn attack magic and fill a mage’s true role in the team.

Certainly they’re both at least on par with Body of Chaos in potential, but as of yet they aren’t recognized as such.

  • Andrew L

Oh this chapter was so satisfying. :3

  • Andrew L

Oh this chapter was so satisfying. :3

  • kooG

ahh.. need to find out the fury that will come down

  • gundam_man

lol heads are going to roll

  • Kevin Cazad

Even I’m super upset over what happened to Cai’er, I can’t wait to read the next chapter.

    • Evilage

Upset? Why? Since she lost 4 senses it means more intimate moments with haochen, thou getting them back seems like a long time
maybe she can choose which she can get back in order?

      • Majk

More intimate moments that she cant even expierence for the most part

        • Evilage

Atleast we can exprience them, she still felt that kiss, who knows?

        • Jonathan Hurd

As long as you have your sense of touch you can still enjoy the FEELS!

      • Majk

Considering how the stove works I doubt that it will be like that. She will probably get them back in the same order that she lost them.
I guess that she could have chosen it when she was attacking?
Or is the sequence always the same?

        • Kevin Cazad

She’ll get them all back at the same time.

          • Nikola Mircevski

She will get them back but She will really fall behind in power now. Useless for 7 months

          • Jonathan Hurd

I’m not sure that she can’t still meditate. Even if she can’t though she still has better innate internal energy than everyone else so catching up for her isn’t that hard. LHC probably wouldn’t match her if he didn’t keep getting these massive boosts to his spiritual energy from fusing with things, lol.

        • Jonathan Hurd

They said previously that they all come back together and each additional sense she uses ups the time it takes. I believe one sense she needs to wait one month. Then for two senses three months. Since she used three senses it will take her seven months. During those seven months she has to live without four senses with no reprieve. After the seven months are up she will be back to only sealing one sense.

          • Sarlisark

It’s the sum of the “Binär Folge”( binar column of numbers) so 2^0 +2^1+2^2+[2^3 if she would have used it again]

      • Kevin Cazad

They already mentioned a few chapters back that she will actually get all her senses back at the same time and not one sense at a time. They were saying how that really sucks she will have no relief at all until everything comes back.

  • Evilage

    Arrggh
    i wanna see more!
    oh god
    poor desks…
cant wait for the next release… aargh
everyones gonna be angry apart from the preists
they could careless if sima dies (probably)

    • Jonathan Hurd

I think before this is over more desks are going to be hurt. Especially considering how hard the people from the Mission Tower are going to be head desking when they hear about this.

  • Schattenbach

I already said it in regard to yesterdays chapter, but …

They’re authorized to deny a squad a mission appropriate to their
rank if they think that the squad might not be able to complete the
mission or is put at too much of a risk by taking that mission on.

    Some points of note:

    #
Young Demon Hunting Squad equals both inexperienced (zero accomplished
missions) and potentially reckless. That’s the group of people they have
to shelter the most. Especially if at
least some of them seem to be
either geniuses (at most 25 and at the fifth step … they’re a newly
formed demon hunting squad so even if they didn’t mention it, anyone in
charge would’ve been able to put
two and two togehter) or super
geniuses (at least some of them look significantly below twenty and
they’re still at least at the standard of the fifth step!) and are
    therefore even more
valuable. Moreover, based on the sheer amount of
talent ammassed in that demon hunting squad, the background of some of
them couldn’t possibly be ordinary (at least some of them
    might be
the relative of some bigshot – who’s obviously going to be extremely
furious if things go south – or someone their respective temple puts
much value into as a possible
    cornerstone in the near future).

    #
The original mission was … [The Desolate Whistling Cavern is located
in the center of the demon territory. Its exploration requires to
penetrate a total of 1,150 km deep into the demon territory, passing
through four demon provinces. According to our intelligence, hissing
sounds will occasionally be heard from the Desolate Whistling Cavern,
but reportedly, a sudden geological change occurred there a few months
ago, and has very likely exposed some rare gems. If you manage to
explore the cavern entirely, you will get an extra reward of
contribution points depending on the value of the gems you will bring
back. The Desolate Whistling Cavern is currently a place of unknown
danger. Nevertheless, it is still needed to enter deeply into the demon
territory, which bears a high possibility of encountering demon scouts
on the way. The team that accepts this mission has to be extremely
prudent.] Turns into: [“That’s not the case, I came to cancel a mission.
Please cancel the mission ‘Exploring the Desolate Whistling Cavern’
that was distributed one week ago. According to the newest information,
I’m afraid that magical beasts of the eighth or the ninth step would
very likely reside in the Desolate Whistling Cavern. It is even possible
that some historical remains of ancient times exist there. This
increases the mission’s level of difficulty enormously. The rewards for
this Exploration Mission have been increase to 200,000 contribution
points, and it will be labeled as a king grade mission.”] & [Li Jing
smiled bitterly, “The Desolate Whistling Cavern has originally been
discovered by a commander grade Demon Hunt Squad. Because they had just
completed another mission at that time, two of their members were
seriously injured, so they didn’t have the occasion to explore it. They
just determined the situation in this cavern with some simple checks.
But recently, another general grade Demon Hunt Squad has brought more
accurate information back. Powerful fluctuations of spiritual energy
were found inside of the cavern, very possibly linked to a formidable
magical beast. Furthermore, the demon race has also already dispatched
some troops to start exploring it. This is why the degree of difficulty
has suddenly been increased to the king grade. If a king grade Demon
Hunt Squad handles it, this exploration shouldn’t be too problematic to
    carry out.”]
When a simple exploration (and mining) mission suddenly
turns into something that (in addition to getting its difficulty
increased by at least ten times) adds two additional threats the demon
hunting squad could end up being caught in-between (that is … whatever
is within the cave and whatever of the demon’s forces (that are likely
at least powerful enough to face off against a magical beast of the
    eight step, so some
powerhouses of the sixth step and/or seventh
step) might arrive upon at any time … what’s more, there wasn’t only
something on the level of a magical beast of the ninth step there but
    a
legacy that’s overall at least on the level of a high-ranking demon god
(so they messed up even more than they originally thought they had by
    making them face something that’s
    completely out of their league).

    #
Moreover, it has only been 5 days since they accepted the mission, so
even when taking into account that they departed then and there, they
shouldn’t already have reached that cave (in
    fact, at that time,
despite being in quite the hurry, they didn’t even depart into the demon
territory yet … as seen here [The 21st general grade Demon Hunt Squad
    travelled day and
night accompanied by the 4th soldier grade Demon
Hunt Squad, and after only eight days of travel, they reached the
southwest border of the Temple Alliance. Long Haochen and Cai’er were
    seated
on Haoyue’s back, Li Xin was carried by her Rose Unicorn, and the
others rode fine horses. … From the eight days of uninterrupted
journey, they were already somewhat worn-out.]).

    # It’s not like
they would’ve to search blindly for them either as what they would’ve
needed to do to catch up to them simply amounts to “heading to their
    destination” (were things get
    troublesome to begin with)

    Each
of these points – considering it’s the mission’s tower’s fault to begin
with – would’ve warranted that they send out a higher ranked team (that
would’ve been able to travel both
safely and quicker to begin with)
to the cave to back them up and/or bail them out of a situation they had
no way to expect based on what they signed up for. They apperantly
    didn’t,
instead opting for the “aww … they already set out … let
them be so that they may figure out on their own that the mission’s
difficulty increased by at least ten times and hope that
    they,
despite them feeling obligated to fullfill their mission, chicken out
before they end up in some incredibly bad situation they have seemingly
no way to deal with.” as well as “sucks to be them” option.

    • Evilage

I had the same thoughts… the guy was too irresponsible, guess now it sucks to be him xD

    • Majk

Honestly beck when we found out about the change in regards to this mission I started to think that LHC and gang would get there get in trouble an be saved by a top tier DHT since I really believed that an important task like that wouldn’t be given to someone who would actually neglect this.

I mean at most they would have yelled at the guy but nothing more would have happened to him but now he will be lucky to survive this shit storm

      • Jonathan Hurd

I expected that kind of scenario too. I never imagined they wouldn’t even bother reporting the mess up. The mislabeling I am willing to write off as an honest mistake that sometimes happen. The fact that they did not own up and send someone, anyone! to try and intercept the two squads and inform them of the mess up especially after realizing the mistake so soon is just deplorable. Sure it would be embarrassing for this to get out and admit to your faults, but that is nothing in comparison to potentially burying two newbie demon hunt squads. Honestly how are the DHS’s supposed to trust the mission tower if they put more emphasis on their reputation than the DHS’s safety. This just smacks of the Tower trying to avoid embarrassment and hoping that the newbies are too young to have the courage to call them out on their bullshit.

        • SirTobias

Well the idea was that it was two (whichever one LHC’s team is at) grade DHSs and that one of them was experienced. This meant that there would be a much higher chance of them backing out. But they did not even stop to check what rank the other team was. All in all a large failure.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I am honestly still confused as to why they did not ask about the second team before okaying the mission. That seems like it would help you decide whether it was safe to send the two squads knowing about their full power and ability. Why assume they are teaming up with a more experienced squad when it could be found out with a simple question. Hell why not ask them to bring the Captain of the other squad so you can see that squads missions accomplished. There is no reason you should okay sending two completely inexperienced Demon Hunt Squads that far into demon territory without any kind of back up.

Overall the employee at the Tower just seems stupid and lazy to me. He cut corners and is more concerned with hiding his fuck up (which wasn’t even his fuck up till he started trying to hide it >.<) than making sure these obviously new Demon Hunt Squads are safe. Personally I'm happy that LHC is getting justice for this stupidity. He and his squad have had at least three big brushes with death and nobody at their level would have risked this mission knowing its real level.

    • Kevin Cazad

LMAO your analysis is spot on! I would have thought the demon hunt organization would have immediately dispatched a team of 7th step people (at the least) to catch up to Haochens team… This whole fiasco warrants someone getting fired.. They almost got the future hope of the entire alliance annihilated!

      • Robin

As we know now the higher ups didn’t even know their golden eggs were in mortal danger. In some regard this is also a fault of the higher ups because they simply cut them loose after all this careful attention they gave them before. I know, they need to grow on theirr own, but still I would have thought that they at least keep track of which missions they take on.
The fail to report at all about the problem is definitely worthy of a death sentence. Probably by an exploding powerhorse.

        • Jonathan Hurd

I think the oversight kind of comes from the sheer stupidity/audacity from the Tower. I think its less that they were careless and more that they couldn’t imagine the Mission Tower being this negligent for any Demon Hunt Squad. This would be a scandal if it happened to any Demon Hunt Squad, sadly for them they choose the worse target to do this to.

  • Laidra

    thanks for the chapter

  • Jonathan Hurd

So time to reopen the prediction pool…. What is LHC and Company going to get from the mission tower.

My first bet is Contribution Points. I think they might be getting over the 200k points especially considering they accomplished the mission and it was two grades higher than their highest squad. I’m guessing 300k points for the new prize.

Second bet for me is they might also have their villa’s price waved for at least a few years.

Seems unlikely to try and give normal equipment like armor or weapons when they can get specific needed ones by just using Contribution points. I think there could be a chance of them being gifted a Spiritual Stove or some secret techniques. That would be pretty bad ass.

    • Luke Confidential

They receive the ability to choose one spiritual stove from the pool of which LHC would have chosen had he not sacrificed the stove for an extra chosen teammate, for whichever team member they select.

      That’s my vote.

      • Evilage

Looks like i had the same thoughts as you mate

        • Jonathan Hurd

Think it might be two since there are two Demon Hunt Squads. So one spiritual stove/reward for each squad.

          • Jonathan Hurd

This also leads to another question. If LHC’s team does get a new Spiritual Stove who do they give it to? Part of me feels giving it to Cai’er or LHC since those two basically were the greatest contributer’s. Missing either one of them and everyone would be dead. To also be fair though they both already have two spiritual stoves and nobody else on their team has one. Considering Cai’er’s current health shes in no condition to fuse with a stove so I would probably say she is out. I would honestly be happy to see LHC get another stove and I don’t think there is anyone on either team that could disagree with that. My second choice for person would be I think Han Yu if he could get one that helps with support skills to further help supplement their lack of healing that would be nice.

          • Nikola Mircevski

Im gonna say 200k conti points and some other bonus maybe a stove or some special privilage. Considering they did record a lot in that cave but lost so much. A mere stove wont compensate for Caier not being able to do a thing for 7 months. Plus when grandpa hears about it there will be blood and not to mention Long’s dad who is one of the most powerfull people the humans have. If he fkin hears about it well….Big problems

          • Luke Confidential

Sima Xian needs a powerup. Or Han Yu might get one [especially if there’s a Saint Stove available for the taking. He’s a bit deficient as a Guardian Knight right now.]

Lastly it might be interesting if there’s a Spiritual Stove that condenses Spiritual Energy into a simple attack that might give Lin Xin an offensive option until he overcomes his trauma.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I honestly don’t think Han Yu needs a Saint Spiritual Stove since he can’t really get the best benefits from it. Han Yu’s part in the team is for healing so I think it would be much better for him to focus on that rather than trying to increase his tanking ability since they have LHC. The other thing is he couldn’t get the rank up help that the Saint Spiritual Stove can give if he gets it at this point. I believe that if you fuse with the Saint Spiritual Stove before you get to the fourth step it can then help you when breaking through the 5th and 7th steps. If done later though I don’t believe you get those benefits.

          • Luke Confidential

Lets be honest here… LHC is a far greater battle asset if he can focus on destruction and leave defense to Han Yu.

The ability of LHC to freely shift between defense and offense fluidly without having to worry about leaving a hole in the team is immense value Han Yu brings to the Bright Rays of Sunshine, [Or is it Sunlight?]

          • Jonathan Hurd

Oh I agree it would be amazing if LHC could act as a retribution knight more often, but the big problem still lies in their complete lack of a healing priest. Even though Han Yu has started getting some skills to make up for that there is still a pretty big gap between a dedicated priest and a guardian knights healing skills sadly. Having a Spiritual Stove that can heal might be a nice addition to his healing ability.

For Wang Yuanyuan’s shields gems they seem a little too specialized to just be randomly held in the alliances treasure vault. I would say there is a chance someone like Elux might know about them or a way to find them since they come from his era. I still also personally think Yin Er’s piggy with his treasure finding ability will probably be the main way they start finding more of those gems for the shield.

  • ZaX

Any other normal team would have died for sure. Thanks for the chapter

    • Luke Confidential

Indeed, any individual General Grade Squad would have perished when the convoy was attacked.

That being said, I imagine most General Grade Squads- if two were working as a unit- would have had a chance of getting out of that mess and fleeing straight home.

Or not having been part of that convoy, gotten through that territory during the battle, narrowly overcome the first group of fiends and then fled straight home.

      • Jonathan Hurd

I would give any two normal General Grade Squads a chance of getting out but there would still be a very high chance of complete annihilation or at least some sort of causality in the caravan battle. It would depend what they chose to do when they noticed Yue Ye prepping to use her spell. If they used that as a distraction I give them about 70% odds of getting out all alive since the demons are focused on Yue Ye and wouldn’t care as much for a small group making a break for it. On the other hand if they tried to do what LHC did and defend her… My money is that they could not protect Yue Ye especially from that last super blast of the Golden Birdy Demon. Also considering that I don’t think anyone else would be able to copy Yin Er’s faking a giant Black Dragon the retreat when fully exhausted would probably still have killed them.

        • Luke Confidential

Yes I was assuming they defended themselves and the caravan at first, taking advantage of the caravan’s defenses until the last minute and then abandoned the caravan while fleeing.

If they had the whit to conserve their fighting strength, they should overall have had more endurance than the 21st G.G. and 4th S.G. had combined [in part because all members are at least 5th step and in part because every member would have contributed in battle, not having a summoner who sat out of that fight.]

EDIT: there’s also the plausibility that the average experienced General Grade squad is likely to acquire one 6th step member, to the extent I would assume two G.G. squads would have at least one between them.

      • Schattenbach

I wouldn’t say that the caravane getting attacked by a big demon army is something the mission tower is to blame for, though, with the sole expection being that they were only ended up being caught up in this mess due to them using that caravane in their attempt to reach that cave because they were trying to accomplish that insane mission.

Hey, quick question that has been bugging me for a while. Why is LHC Demon Hunt Squad called the “21st Demon Hunt Squad”? I mean, from the the original Demon Hunt Squad selection till about Chapter 215, LHC’s demon hunt squad was “1st Demon Hunt Squad”. In fact, in Chapter 215, LHC Demon Hunt Squad is called the the 1st and 21st. Can someone explain this to me?

    • Kevin Cazad

They were the 1st among their class for the rookie level squads but when they upgraded to the higher level (forgot what rank it’s called) in that rank they are currently the 21st demon hunt squad of that division. Meanwhile they were working with the 4th team during their most recent mission (4th team of the low rank squad and when that team upgrades I imagine they will be called the 22nd demon hunt squad of the higher rank).

      • Jonathan Hurd

The Demon Hunt Squads are separated into about 6 grades. The first one you get is Soldier grade and the second one is General Grade. So when they first became a demon hunt squad LHC’s team was the first SOLDIER grade demon hunt squad. When they upgraded to general grade they became the 21st GENERAL grade demon hunt squad. That is the reason behind the new numbering.

        • Kevin Cazad

There you go, so most likely when the 4th soldier grade upgrades they will become the 22nd general grade as i doubt any of the other soldier grades will be getting contribution points as quickly as LHC’s group.

          • Luke Confidential

Indeed not by a long shot. Though I strongly suspect the 2nd Soldier Grade Squad will be promoting within a year of the completion of the Demon Hunt Selection.

Possibly right around the time Cai-Er recovers her senses

EDIT: Of course this being Xianxia, it wouldn’t surprise me if rivals made during that competition [including Wang Yenzhao] are left in the dust completely rather than simply being somewhat inferior and striving to compete.]

          • MoonlightWolf1

            Thanks. Makes sense now.

    • Luke Confidential

      21st General Grade

      4th Soldier Grade

  • MoonlightWolf1

Oh, and thanks for the Chapter.

  • Steven Lemasson

Im sure we will see some big power up soon (i guess they will buy the +1000 spirit energy pill with the enormous amount of contrib point theyll gain^^)

    • Nikola Mircevski

Well in a few chapters guess who gets a fouth head….

    • Schattenbach

I’m not so sure if it’s that wise to use that pill just yet … some of them (like Haochen) are about to reach the next bottleneck and so some spiritual energy may go to waste…. moreover … sure, +1000 spirit energy seems like a lot … but (as seen when Haochen reached the fifth step) cultivation seems to significantly slow down with each step (or so it seems at least), so waiting a bit might make the value of that pill increase by quite a lot.The dealbreaker here is if getting more out of that pill worth it delaying getting everyone to reach the sixth step (which, as ellaborated during Haochen’s stay in the cave) boosts everyone#s survival significantly.

      • Steven Lemasson

actually it speeds up after reaching the 6th step thanks to the spiritual cavities (i think thats the name for it) i read i think (not 100% sure) in some chapter that cultivation speed up greatly at the 6th step.

        • Schattenbach

I somehow missed that info while reading the Ripple of Lights chapters (maybe it was stated at some earlier point). If that’s the case, thanks for pointing it out.

  • Luke Confidential

While they certainly need to stand up for themselves and put the Mission Tower in its place… I’m surprised they aren’t more eager for the 200k points they’ve earned.

    • Kevin Cazad

Isn’t part of the issue that although they earned 200k points the mission tower only wants to pay out 20k?

      • Luke Confidential

        To quote:

“What? 200,000 contribution points?! Isn’t there a mistake?”

The mission tower isn’t trying to rip them off, they need only produce the proof of their success and they’d be rich beyond their rank.

But right now they’re protesting the Mission Tower for endangering them.

  • Luke Confidential

What I’m really wondering is whether or not LHC will reveal his private personal rewards to Grandpa Sheng and seek his council regarding Necromancy.

    • setyroth

I so want LHC to go the necromancy path!

      • Luke Confidential

Bear in mind this is Holy Necromancy.

But it still deals in undead xD.

    • Nikola Mircevski

He does tell one higher up as i recall from untranslated ver

      • Schattenbach

I don’t want to be rude but please refrain from spoiling too much even if you already know about what might happen (through MT, due to spoilers or by reading the raws yourself). Thanks in advance.

      • SWYZ fan

        I saw 2 spoilers from you already…please stop…

  • setyroth

Anyone else find it strange that they’re the 21st general grade demon hunt squad? I mean wouldnt it be confusing if they suddenly promoted and Lin Xi’s group suddenly became the 21s? What happens if for whatever reason a squad remained the 1st Soldier grade squad, would they start squad numbers from 2 for the next batch?

    • Luke Confidential

Not strange at all. There are currently 21 General Grade squads after they promoted. Therefore they are now the 21st.

As for the soldier grade rankings, methinks what happens is that- in the 5 years between Demon Hunt Selections- all the powerful/talented people promote and only the weakest of the weak are left behind.

Thus the Soldier Grade gets re-sorted every generation.

EDIT: after all, there are 10 squads every generation, and this generation is noted as being particularly promising overall. I suspect in five years the top 6-8 squads will all have promoted, while the bottom few may never promote, or perhaps promote once ever.

      • setyroth

Oh I see. You’re right we might have some more tournaments to look forward to 🙂 Would be good way to introduce characters from other squads at least.

        • Luke Confidential

I’m not sure why you forsee more tournaments coming? I sure hope there aren’t lol, that was the slowest most agonizing part of the story for me.

    • Kevin Cazad

Obviously when Lin Xi’s group would get promoted they would become the 22nd general grade demon hunt squad, i’m not sure what the confusion here is.

  • Schattenbach

    I got a question …

What group of people is being refered to

“After having such a furious reaction, Han Qian immediately gathered the
four other Temples in the Government Office, and the six Hall Masters
    for a rendezvous.”

when it’s about Han Qian immediately gathering the four other temples?

    • Steven Lemasson

i guess the four other temple are the spiritual mage priest and warrior (knight and assassin are already here) representant present at the alliance temple hq. And hall master refer to the chief of the branch of each temple present in this city.

    • Schattenbach

Ah … I think I got it now … the other Auxiliary Masters that are busy doing administrative work within the government office.

      • Steven Lemasson

i guess so assassin and knight representant just got there fast because they were near and have strong ties to the scion of light and daughter of samsara, the other representant of the other temple, why would they move just for a bunch of young hunter protesting at the front gate^^

  • Steven Lemasson

    265 is up guys

  • Laidra

i checked this site just now and i at first couldn´t belive my eyes.

oh wow, guys you´re awesome! 6 sponsored chapters!

totobro, please don´t overwork youreself. we like to have you for a very very long time after that.

thank you very much and do your best 🙂

  • Muhammad Zulfikar

totobro, i didnt get anymore email subscription T_T so i thought project down i didnt check but i read 10-13 chapter T_T

  • Iric Alexis

wait… didn’t the mission earlier set as unknown level.. and they fully know mission can be so easy or die hard core now they protesting like a kid?.. wait they are kids..

more over did LHC still have face to protest? he succeed the mission covering not succeeding as he afraid about the fact that he chosen as necromancer inheritor. this already cut other team contribution point where they over their life in the mission also. when they should get 200k bonus.

    • IvyHav3n

They accepted that mission right off the bat. They did gain, but what have they lost?

      • Iric Alexis

your point? i dunno what they lost… except few injured and cai’er disability (that i think can be prevented if LHC back faster instead trying the first test.) other.. u tell me?
but they sure gain so much here… the skill, the point.. the necromancer tower.. that i think it’s worth the risk.

        • IvyHav3n

Lol here’s the right conversation: They were fine, but imagine if some other Demon Squad took it?

          • Iric Alexis

just like person who make news about 200k point said. they expect they are pro enough to learn desolate cave have enough trouble for them so they decide not to enter.
just like LHC team when they feel the hissing problem from the cave they ready to abandon the mission but because LHC have teleport ability LHC decide to enter it alone.

    • They gave ppl a king rank mission, you’d expect a team of probably 7th and 8th steps to do such a mission. Since they ran into so many 6th and 7th step Demons. It shows the incompetence f their information gathering, putting 2 teams at risk. An average team would have died

      • Iric Alexis

well like THEY said when they taking the mission THEM SELF… its unclear rank it could be piece of cake or hell… now they protesting… right…

        • It’s wasn’t unclear rank, it was unclear danger. There’s a huge difference! The danger of a mission varies based on rank. A high danger mission for a soldier rank is not the same as for an emperor.

          • Iric Alexis

that the point isn’t it? since the poster cannot asses the danger so it is put on unclear rank. and NO ONE force them to take that mission. like the other PRO said.. if they feel the danger they should leave as soon as possible.. but welp.. they are still newb.

btw, the cave it self is not that dangerous. the danger comes when LHC DECIDE to follow his pet and abandon HIS ORIGINAL PLAN that already accepted by his companion, that is to leave as soon as possible as he already got the info. so he comes late to save his comrade. in this term alone has already fail as a leader and comrade.
yes maybe it is for the better but he also covering the fact/truth from the other party companion that also come with his party… wow…. so much taking profit for him self.. so much opportunist.. and so much hypocrite… lol

          • hargs sgrah

Just to tell you, the ranks of the missions represent a sort of very obvious watershed barrier in difficulty. A low danger/difficulty king grade is completely capable of wiping out a general level troop, most of the time (MC’s not withstanding).

The way daemon killing tower’s missions organized are sorta like realms in cultivation. king would be higher level in total so weak to them is ‘nearly’ impossible for lower realms.

oh wait you know this well..

The Rank was general grade, it was NOT put as king grade like it was later realized it should have been. In this context: rank is not danger, danger represents level of difficulty within a rank, if the danger surpasses that rank it changes how the the rank of the mission is considered. An unknown level of danger shouldn’t mean it gets powerful enough for it to pass on to become a higher rank.. etc

So yes, he has every right to protest. Though I am surprised about it. I was wondering how the author would handle the fopaw though,

Also the progression of the mission, and the decisions made within it, has no bearing on how the information error was done. It’s basically irrelevant to that. Although good news is certainly welcome, I’m sure.

All that being said you are probably right on the decision of longhowchen to enter Eternal Rest put his team in danger; especially sense LHC him-self as much as thought so to himself.
