Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 256

Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 256: Slaughter! (III)

At this time, Lin Xin’s brain almost short circuited. Li Xin’s ardent lips were like lava, melting all his anger and sad feelings. Currently, he just felt his whole body going soft, clearly turning pale as he sticked to the side of the wall, just as if he had turned into a sort of mural painting.

Separating her lips, Li Xin rapidly drew back until her armor knocked against the other side of the wall with a bang sound.

Her charming face appeared deep red, just like the color of her Rose Unicorn. Although she didn’t gasp for breath, her breast was heaving and she clearly wasn’t as undisturbed as usually.

“This should do!” Li Xin fiercely said, but gave off the impression that she could fall over at any given times now.

“You cannot beat me or curse me now! This young lady isn’t as wealthy as you, neither does she have anything precious she can give to compensate you. This will just do, now I don’t owe you anything anymore.” After she was finished, she rapidly bolted in the direction of the exit, before suddenly thinking of something. After taking a few steps, she turned back to look at Lin Xin’s painting-like-silhouette, and couldn’t help but speak out in anger, “Scoundrel, what’s up with this grieved appearance!? This was this lady’s first kiss!”

As she declared that, she picked up a small rock and threw it at Lin Xin, hitting his leg, before turning back and running away at a flying speed.

Lin Xin looked stiff and turned his head with an exaggerated motion, looking at Li Xin’s disappearing figure. His pale face suddenly became flushed, “I… Did she just forcefully kiss me?” Touching his own lips, he still felt the lingering presence of this ardent feeling.

Without awareness of the time that had passed, he walked back to the exit with the support of the stone wall, his legs still feeling unsteady and weak.

Running into Chen Ying’er, he was given a suspicious look, “What’s up with you, has-drug-bro? Have you caught a fever or what? How can your face be so red?”

“I’m alright.” Lin Xin touched his burning face, looking for a place to sit down with a sluggish face. As far as he could see, Li Xin wasn’t around.

Three whole day passed before the two Demon Hunt Squads recovered a minimal level of fighting strength, though this did not include Yi Jun and Dian Yan. The first had committed a great overdraft and needed to be nursed for some more time, whereas the second was seriously wounded and had yet to recover. But even so, they were ready to move again, and would just barely be unable to face the enemy but nothing more.

Over the past two days, Li Xin and Lin Xin seemed to be avoiding each other, but couldn’t help but occasionally steal a glance at the other party. The others weren’t blind, and naturally felt the strange atmosphere between the two of them. It was only that they were currently in a dangerous place, and everyone was focusing his energy on recovering strength, so no one payed close attention to them.

Their only thought was that the relation between the two of them was just rather awkward because of Li Xin’s forceful inquisition, but by paying good attention, one would discover that Lin Xin’s face was strangely flushed red whenever he caught a glimpse of Li Xin.

“Come here everyone!” Long Haochen stood at Cai’er’s side, raising his voice and calling them together.

Everyone immediately reacted, and rapidly gathered at his side.

“Over the past three days, everyone except from Cai’er, Yi Jun and Dian Yan have mostly recovered. I believe everyone is very curious about what I saw in the Desolate Hissing Cavern, what this cavern was in the end. I’ll show you everything.”

He was a bit ashamed of it, but Long Haochen couldn’t possibly disclose the secret of the Tower of Eternity because it would not necessarily be a good thing. Maybe it would even bring him great inconveniences.

Hearing Long Haochen’s words, everyone curiously glanced at him, but waited respectfully.

As the captain of the 21st general grade Demon Hunt Squad, who explored the cavern by himself, if Long Haochen wanted to keep everything he discovered for himself, the members of the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad would not be qualified to say anything against it. Without Long Haochen, they wouldn’t even be alive. But Long Haochen put his cards on the table and by openly revealing everything, he indicated that he didn’t have the desire of keeping everything for himself.

The Recording Gem displayed an image under the influence of the spiritual energy injected by Long Haochen, and the world existing inside of the Desolate Hissing Cavern appeared in everyone’s view.

It couldn’t be denied that this Recording Gem was indeed a rare type of treasure. Not only did it record the images, but even the incoming sounds.

Long Haochen appeared in the middle of the image, when the situation inside of the Desolate Hissing Cavern started to be displayed;

Because the whole record was very long, Long Haochen used his spiritual energy to regulate it, accelerating the whole process.

At the beginning of Long Haochen’s exploration, it could be seen that his body was surrounded by such violent fluctuations of spiritual energy, that everyone couldn’t help but feel a chill upon seeing it. Although they didn’t experience it for real, they could imagine how violent of a pressure Long Haochen had been subject to.

When Long Haochen suddenly released a Holy Mantle, his figure suddenly came to a stop and the record paused.

Under everyone’s amazement, Haochen declared in a serious tone, “The results of this exploration weren’t ideal, and I don’t know whether these images will be enough for us to get the mission approved as completed, but inside the Desolate Hissing Cavern, bearing those hissing sounds caused me to gain understanding of a new ability. Since we came here together, risking our life side by side to complete the mission, I am willing to share this ability with all of you. This way, this errand won’t have been for naught no matter how the Alliance decides. As for whether you’ll be able to understand it, it will depend on yourselves.”

Long Haochen’s words shoke everyone as one may imagine, particularly the six members of the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad, whose expression changed completely.

Luc Xi retorted with almost no hesitation, “Captain Long, you don’t need to do this. Self created abilities don’t need to be shared with outsiders, it can be said to be a part of your own ability!”

In a different situation, perhaps Long Haochen wouldn’t reveal the secret of the ability he hardly gained comprehension of, but because of the secret he kept in the form of the Tower of Eternity, he felt a bit ashamed towards the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad. His kindhearted character made him do this as an attempt to make up for his insincerity.

Long Haochen revealed a smile, “This ability that I comprehended isn’t something anyone can learn. It is rather suited to a close quarters warrior. Don’t decline it, Captain Luc, since I said this much, I’ll do it. Next, please listen with attention everyone; I’ll tell you about the whole process of my understanding, and whether you manage to learn it or not will depend on your own abilities. I named this new ability ‘Ripples of Light’”

As he said this, a Holy Mantle was released from Long Haochen’s body, and he hinted Li Xin with a gesture, “Sis, launch an attack against my Holy Mantle. Do it slowly, to let everyone have a good look.”

Li Xin gave Long Haochen a helpless glance; the greatest weakness of this younger brother of her was just too clear. Don’t forget this is a precious self-created ability!

However, she still acted in accordance to Long Haochen’s instructions. In her eyes, his disposition as a leader was just improving with time, so since he chose to do this, he ought to have his own reasons.

A fiery red aura was directed against the Holy Mantle and Li Xin made use of her spiritual energy to send a cut towards the Holy Mantle.

But at the instant this cut came into contact with the Holy Mantle, a sudden buzzing sound could be heard, and Li Xin immediately opened her eyes wide. She was completely shocked to see that her cut was deflected without a chance to penetrate Long Haochen’s Holy Mantle.

Since everyone watched carefully, they clearly saw that at the instant Li Xin’s spiritual energy made its way into the Holy Mantle, the whole Holy Mantle emanated a kind of fierce ripples. Those ripples were the cause of the Holy Mantle’s sudden increase in defensive power, so that it was able to deflect Li Xin’s cut with ease.

Long Haochen continued to speak, “This ability called Ripples of Light is something I comprehended inside of the Desolate Hissing Cavern. You should know how powerful the impacts of the hissing sounds were, right? Well, Ripples of Light will bring this kind of amplification to your offensive and defensive abilities. It is able to strengthen our offensive and defensive ability greatly at the cost of an increased consumption of spiritual energy.”

Next, Long Haochen narrated without reservation his whole process of understanding that led to the creation of the Ripples of Light, and showed it once again to everyone else.

It was just as Long Haochen said: Ripples of Light wasn’t suited to magic vocations, and only close quarters combatants could use it. Everyone had a clear understanding of how great the utility of his ability could be. Han Daosi felt that Ripples of Light could produce an incredible increase to his offensive power, whereas a Shield Warrior like Dian Yan felt that the benefits were rather to increase his defensive power by a large extent.

After the end of the record, Long Haochen gave his own narration, speaking of the Tower of Light that appeared in the very last instant before the specters threw themselves at him.

“At this time, I felt a great pain coming from my brain. It was as if these specters were trying to seize my body forcefully. It was at this time that Haoyue came, making use of a soul attack to drive them out. After this moment followed a period of stupor, and by the time I came back to my senses, the tower had already disappeared. From beginning to end, I haven’t seen it clearly enough to determine what it was. The recording ability of the Recording Gem also seems to have been affected, since it didn’t record anything that happened while I was in a state of stupor. However, I can be certain that even if that tower was still there, it’s not something that we could confront with our level of cultivation.”

Long Haochen had thought long before coming up with this story, and still felt guilty deep inside when telling it. But thinking of the shock the necromancers gave to the human world, he finally kept a strong front, telling this half-true story to his own comrades.

After he was done, the most spectacular thing to him was that no one called his report into question. It was clear that with the power of the hissing sound that appeared in the record, they wouldn’t possibly even have made it as far as him, and couldn’t possibly have done any better than Long Haochen. They had already gone as far as they could to accomplish the mission.

Han Daosi said in an embarrassed tone, “Captain Long, since it was as you said, these records should at least give us half the reward upon returning. That… That ability of yours, can we….”

Im completely shocked over the fact that something so simple has yet to understood. Vibration, something so simple…. Let me guess. They dont even know how to manipulate the amount of strength used to control a fight. Guess LHC and his father are the only ones who are able to do it, but they made it into a techinque instead of an obvious thought -.-

    • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair just vibrating your energy might be pretty simple. The problem is probably getting it for one to a fast enough frequency to have an effect while still managing to keep it in the proper structure. It could be like trying to throw a punch like usual with the same form while also remembering to vibrate your fist at the same time. If you mess up either part it could ruin either technique.

      • Daene Kendrick

I dont think its improbable that no one has come up with a similar technique. It took LHC with his mental capabilites under the pressure of the spiritual vibrations in order to come up with this current technique. Not to mention in a magical world sciene is not as advanced as we are used to.

        • Jonathan Hurd

Well the other thing is that its pretty simple now to say ‘Sure vibrate your energy it makes it stronger!’ because we have seen it happen, but it takes quite a bit of insight to make these mental leaps. LHC figured it out because he saw an example of it and tried copying it. Just randomly thinking to yourself to try doing that with your own energy, make the vibration work, and realize this can greatly strengthen your power takes some pretty amazing leaps to even start trying much less hope to succeed.

      • FTxCerber

Now thats a plausible reason for it being difficult.

        • Jonathan Hurd

I’m just happy that we saw the conclusion of that random kiss. It annoys me that the kiss cliffhanger was torturing me more than most of the combat cliffhangers T.T.

          • Kaarme

Let’s not spend too much on Haochen and Cai’er’s romance right now with Cai’er being a half-zombie due to a lack of essential senses.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Yeah, to be fair that would be creepy in the best case and assaulting someone with handicaps in worst case. >.< Just saying if I gotta read about goofy romance hi jinks I want them hi jinks. Preferably with a fully healed Cai'er.

Talking about the preview in the next chapter; if humanity is so pinned down by the force of the demons, why is that people have never spread their self created abilities to give everyone else a power boost? Seems unimaginably selfish especially when you re read the beginning of the novel and see how much anger LHC’s father (didn’t wanna butcher his name lol) had when reciting the tale about the demon invasion(s) especially with his own technique

    • Robin

Egoism I would say, and the inability of most to learn really strong techniques such as self created ones. As you see, even the self invented ability of a level 5 knight is not easily acquired by others.
But yeah, it is narrow minded and surely a big weakness.

      • Daene Kendrick

I dont see it as Egotism, I believe it more to be the case that just because someone is able to learn a technique not everyone will be able to. Notice most higher level skills are even restricted and one must purchase the knowledge in order to learn the skill. I belive it is broken down this way to ensure those attempting to learn a technique are skilled enough by that time to do so, as well as intelligent enough to understand the strengths and weaknesses of said skill.

As far as the inability for the members of the 4th squad to currently learn this technique it could be for 2 reasons. Both Han Yu and Sima Xin have after become retainers to LHC an ISE level over 70, this increases their innate abilites and understanding of all things. Secondly they are both 5th step powerhouses, where as Li Xin and Daosi are both still 4th step. In time I can see Li Xin mastering this technique but it will take effort and time.

Also even in our real world there are certain techniques that are only past down from master to student or through a bloodline. So to say it simply inheritance rings follow that guidline.

        • Robin

You are right and the inability to learn the skills, which could lead to unsuccessful tries and wasted time for some people was what I hinted at with my comment as well.

And there is another difference between Han Yu, Sima Xian and the others. They are Haochen’s retainers.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I would say that Robin isn’t completely wrong about it being on some level Egotism. I mean as Cai’er’s father told LHC there are only three people who know LHC’s dad’s created skill. Now to be fair using these secret skills incorrectly could have horrible consequences we just have to look at Lin Xin’s dad to realize the horror of what happens when someone messes up practicing a powerful skill. Still the fact that these personal skills are not shared with the Temple Alliance has to do some with personal pride I would guess. It is definitely true that the majority of people would not be able to use these techniques but that doesn’t mean no one would profit from learning it. As sad as it might be but humans are humans and we by nature have some pride. I am not going to say no one has passed on their self created technique for the good of humanity, but as we have seen even fellow temples keep things from each other and compete. The very fact that they have incentives for fighting the demons as hard as they do kind of points to certain levels of selfishness. Now that is not to say that the rewards are not just the icing on the cake, but it does say something that we want that icing.

          • Daene Kendrick

Competition leads to advancement. Skills, Strength, ETc.

          • Kaarme

It’s sort of a circular dependency situation. When the whole system is such that you need to purchase new skills and spells with the points earned from hard work (or win tough tournaments), giving skills to others for free is illogical and counterintuitive. So, if the Alliance wanted to freely distribute more than the basic skills, they would need to also change the whole system that’s based on earning the skills. What would happen to these rather independent demon hunt squads with a long history then? It would take a revolution.

Looking at the situation, it’s clearly working like capitalism, the currency being the blood score of demons. Like everybody knows, capitalism isn’t a perfect system, but nobody knows any better alternatives.

        • Kaarme

They must be purchased, the same as better equipment, to encourage the demon hunter teams to actually hunt demons as much as they can and to develop themselves in order to beat higher level demons and accept more difficult missions worth more points. For comparison they also have the regular armed forces guarding the gates, walls, and towns. They probably boast quite uniform gear and skills to make them easier to command, like you said in another post.

People are lazy and conservative. Extra incentives like this are needed.

    • Majk

Just to add a positive spin to it (other reasons that egoism which is a good reason sadly) I would say that even if people were willing to give away their secret techniques they still shouldn’t.

The main reasons why I say this are as follows:

      1. For most people learning just one technique can take years and let’s be honest here if given the choice people would go for the marvelous secret techniques more than the normal ones which would be a tragedy for the human forces since most secret techniques are not suitable for normal fights. Plus after years of training they would be incompetent as soldiers since they would have to spend most of their time learning this rather than the basic skills that are useful in every beatle

2.Many lack the proper judgment of when to use such things not to mention that some like Ripples of light require you to split your attention (after all using Ripples of Light means constantly changing the frequency to match the enemy) or Raise Flowers Into Trees which someone without the ability to foresee what might happen would find useless.

      3. It’s just better to have a set number of skills that everyone has to learn at the beginning so that it will be easier to teach and learn them not to meancion rise the survival rate in battles (let’s remember that LHC has won most of his fights thanks to skills that most knights can use)

4.The energy consumption. This one does not apply to all secret skills but I would say that most of them have a pretty big consumption or they consume power over time which in a war of attrition is a pretty bad thing. You could say that the energy consumption changes with each step but let’s remember that while this goes for our heroes it does not apply to the whole army where the average soldier is somewhere around the 3rd – 4th step.

After all that lets look at a skill like the Revolting Strike from LHCs dad:
It sound great since it lets you lock down the enemy and grind them down since over time your attack rises but it cant really be used in a battle field unless it can kill in one hit since otherwise the enemies allies would have a free strike against you. If the enemy will be able to doge or stop it you will be left open to his attack, not to mention that for most normal soldiers who are 1-5 step they would not be able to sustain using this skill for long enough to kill a foe with high defence.

To end this my point is that for the whole army its better to have a set of skills that are useful in almost all battles, can be used frequently and by anyone(aorund 95% with people like Lin Xin and Sima Xian being excepcions) who has reached the required step without problems and are familiar to everyone so as to make cooperacion easier.

      • Daene Kendrick

I agree to this point, it makes since that you only teach the basics up to a certain step of training. Especially to a military unit because in the heat of battle if everyone in a unit knows the same ability it is easier for a commander to give instructions rapidly and be understood. Where as you then have your special units or special forces like the dhs would be considered where they need to know alot more then the basics because they will usually be either outnumbered, overpowereed, or in a time constraint due to their missions that it would become necessary to learn advanced tactics.

        • Jonathan Hurd

I would say another reason they do not give out all these skills is that it acts as an incentive for young powerful talents. I think a big part of what inspires people to try and fight harder against the demons is the idea of learning cool and big new secret skills.

Another reason could honestly be that if they do not teach all the old techniques this can help to inspire people to try and create new ones. If everyone relies on just being taught every skill when they want it they will just rely on that instead of seeking out new skills and abilities.

To expand on one of Majk’s points as well remember not everyone has the same kind of mental capacity that LHC has. The more skills you have the more you have to choose from in different circumstances. If they taught every secret skill that could be overwhelming to choose and remember in each different scenario. It also becomes harder and harder to use the abilities you have and master them to a high level.

Part of what has made LHC so strong thus far is how he connects all his techniques together. Its one thing to have Holy Sword, Instant Blast Cross, and Light Thorn. When LHC needed true burst though he has managed to put them all together and focus them.

Last point I would say is we do know that to share abilities they apparently have specialized material to give the information and store it like the inheritance rings. The problem is stuff like that is expensive and they do not have an infinite supply of those. Its easier to make sure they reward these things to those who show big efforts.

          • Luke Confidential

Remember how one can go to the * Hall [I don’t remember the precise name] and spend Contribution Points to learn Secret Skills?

I surmise that’s what usually happens. Secret Skills are put into some sort of object that can hold one skill [similar to an Inheritance Ring] and either sold TO the Hall, or sold BY the hall and the creator paid royalties.

Thus humanity gets access to these secret skills, but it is neither a handout [disincentivizing new generations from creating their own] nor do the creators go without reward for doing so.

I am assuming the system is the royalties one [because it costs the Hall nothing to acquire a skill and everybody profits every time it’s purchased] which explains why one would be so hesitant to share it with anyone outside their squad. Doing so potentially cuts into their profits.

What the 4th Soldier Grade squad is forgetting is that they’re still deep in enemy territory, and members of their squad becoming more powerful increases LHC’s odds of safely bringing his squad [and sister] back into Human Territory.

          • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair in the 4th SGDHS’s defense the idea of sharing a self created ability with strangers is a pretty unprecedented idea, especially when he teaching them the method directly. That means that they could potentially monetize it for themselves and steal credit for your skill. Especially since this skill was just made and no one knows LHC came up with it.

          • Daene Kendrick

True, they could but I dont think after learning everything they have on this mission they would abuse the gift that he has given them. This skill once they are able to learn it would improve their survivability greatly and I see it only taking time for them to learn it where i only see the members of the 21st GGDHS mastering it as all the members have a ISE over 60 and currently they have Scion of Light, Chaos, Duaghter of Samasara, and Two bodies of the Gods or what ever it is below scion of light Sima Xian and Han Yu. I am pretty sure the female warrior is also over 60 ISE

          • Luke Confidential

I’d actually rather like to see the Shield Girl NOT having a ‘good’ ISE.

It’d be pretty awesome if somebody on the squad was in a similar [but far less extreme] position to LHC’s teacher and was desperately struggling and fighting to raise their cultivation level. In her case perhaps she’s able to cultivate in concert with her shield’s vibration mojo by virtue of her ridiculous External Spiritual Energy, enabling her to keep up with all these high ISE people [except the real freaks of course, that being LHC and Cai-Er]

          • Daene Kendrick

The thing is I think she has a very high ISE because of how strong he Physical SE is. I think it was LHC father that said that the majority of bodies cap out at 200 Energy for their bodies.
Hers is higher then everyone else at 524 and cai’er being 446 it seems likely that she would have to have a special body.

          • Luke Confidential

A special body does not necessitate a special ISE. A special ISE seems like one potential cause OF a special body.

Though I have absolutely nothing to back this up lol.

          • Daene Kendrick

If you look within the 21st Squad I believe if we could get accurate numbers we would discover that Han Yu has actually the lowest Natural Inate Spiritual Energy out of all the members at 64, I also believe he is the oldest of the squad followed my Siam Xian who had 69 natural. If i think more about it and actually looking back it was a pain finding the right chapter i think currently every member has a current Innate Spiritual Energy Level surpassing 70, with it going from 100 C 99 LHC 82 Siam Xian, 80 Han Yu, and 74 Lin Xin, these are the only recorded levels but I am pretty sure that Summoner girl is above 80 as that is when the alliance starts naming the special body types with hers being a “Body of Chaos”. Not much has been said of the Warrior temple and if they belive in any special body types. We currently only know the darnkess body types ( Assassins possibly Mages can have this type) light ( Knights, Priests, & Mages could have this type) and Chaos ( summoners only). A more detailed explanation of all the requirements for Squad promotion and Innate ISE would help out alot. 80 to 90 in light is body blessed by the heavens.

          • Luke Confidential

There’s a pretty high probability that you’re right.

I’d still like to see her accomplishing all this with 40ish ISE, but the odds are not good.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Blessed of heavens I think is what 80 is called, but I need to recheck that too. That is one sad thing I keep feeling is they didn’t tell us everyone’s innate spiritual energy just Han Yu’s, Sima Xian’s, LHC’s, Cai’er’s, and Lin Xin’s. Still wondering what Yin’er and Wang Yuanyuan have.

The big thing is that LHC’s sharing of this skill shows a massive amount of trust in them. Anybody with half a brain can realize that they are now able to spread this info if they so felt like it. They also have no right to demand information on this since they for one owe LHC their lives many times over, and he came up with it through his own efforts and insights. The 4th Soldier DHS will realize this too and that makes the fact LHC is sharing it fill them with even more gratitude. It shows in their eyes that he really views them as comrades and is even willing to give away information as precious as this to them with no demands for compensation.

    Preview Spoiler Alert!

    *Spoiler discussion below*

I’ve gotta say, I’m a bit disappointed Big Sis can’t seem to figure out Ripples of Light. I was expecting the other beatsticks to fail, since the original ability is based on Light and they likely lack the comprehension to adapt it to their elemental affinity. But Big SIs is a Knight! I guess the flame accents she picked up from her Rose Unicorn might be at fault here.

That, and she’s decidedly ‘high average’ unlike Han Yu and Sima Xian [who were both likely ‘low grade exceptional’ to start and have since become LHC’s retainers.

EDIT: it also occurs to me that part of it might be a matter of Step. There’s a qualitative gap between the 4th step and 5th step, comprehending this ability without possessing Liquid Energy might be impossible or far more difficult.

    • Robin

Well, as nice as it is that you emphasize the inclusion of the preview, it is no real spoiler since the preview is free for all and usually people have read the chap before joining the discussion.
It is a bit misleading to title your post a spoiler. It could happen that it gets deleted as a real spoiler by the system.

      • Jonathan Hurd

As Robin said, but still have to say I appreciate your forethought for the readers. I did think when I saw spoiler that you had read past what Toto has got us so was hesitant but after looking carefully it looks fine, :D.

I would say Han Yu is more exceptional than Li Xin, even before his Innate Talent Sharing with LHC, since he made it to the 5th step way before she has even if their ages are a few years off. To be fair as well they have only just started trying to learn LHC’s self made technique and LHC has shared his own Innate Spiritual Energy with both Sima Xian and Han Yu far increasing their Innate Spiritual Energies. With that those two should have a way better understanding of the light than most other people since as we have been told having over 80 is a pretty rare score. Speaking of talents from how the story has described things both Sima and Han Yu had in the 60’s of talent which was just a little short of being high talent. I say that since being 70 means you have a much easier time getting to the 9th step. After sharing they got to very high talented if not genius levels since LHC’s father was considered a genius with a score of 84 or 83 (i forget the specific number) and those two are close to or above that score now.

Personally I think the next person who will learn the ability will be Wang Yuanyuan because her shield works under the same premise of using vibrations. I think she will be much more familiar with how she can use vibrations in her spiritual energy and use it to enhance her shields current vibrations in full assault mode.

I agree for Li Xin that this might require her to have Liquid Spiritual energy to master. So that might be holding her back from mastery.

Toto hates spoilers and is really strict in deleting them as soon as one pops up. People who give spoilers might even be banned from commenting. I really like this attitude, but I don’t want people to have their posts deleted because of a misunderstanding. So it was just a friendly reminder.

          • Daene Kendrick

EDIT YOUR POST to get rid of the spolier comment

          • Robin

No, it’s okay. Toto knows that it is no real spoiler. But be careful in the future. 😉
It would be sad to lose such an active parter to discuss stuff.

          • Luke Confidential

I adjusted the bold warning. I know there are people who deliberately don’t read the previews, preferring to read chapters in their entirety at one time.

          • Robin

Well, it’s up to them. But if they participate in the commenting section they should still be prepared to get some info together with theories and guesswork.

        • Luke Confidential

That’s what I said from the start. That Li Xin was ‘High Average’ while Sima Xian and Han Yu were ‘Low Grade Exceptional’ prior to becoming LHC’s retainers [which upgrades them to Standard Exceptional, presumably nearly on par with LHC’s old man in concert with your explanation.]

          • Daene Kendrick

They may share the same level of innate spiritiual level, but they dont have the same mentality or drive. LHC and his Father are both driven to be the strongest that they can be and protect all around them. Where others just want personal recognition or have their own goals like Han Yu wants to become a divine knight but didnt have the right mentality at first

  • Sarlisark

I understand why most people would be unalbe to use rhis technique as magic classes, since they use all of their coontrol for their spells or healing with oscillation not making sense as well as a summon with oscialltion. Though their is still our control freak Lin Xin, who uses only defense abilities, which I would say he ould oscillate. His control should also be good enough to do it.
So I would say he will be the only caster with oscillation magic, thanks to his control.

I kind of want to see that too. Especially when we consider that Ripples of Light let LHC’s holy mantle equal an elemental shield. What kind of defensive level do you think an elemental shield could jump to?

      • Kaarme

How do those barriers work anyway? Holy mantle can probably be imagined as a physical (equivalent to metal) shield that can accept some beating before it breaks. Thus if it oscillates, as a physical barrier, it makes sense it could gain power. But if an elemental shield is made of fire, like in Lin’s case, what good does oscillating fire do? Something more physical like oscillating water would sound good (unless it evaporates itself). Oscillating earth shield would logically turn itself into dust…

        • Daene Kendrick

I imagine it seems like a glowing aura around the person similar to DBZ with their Ki surrounding them. Holy Mantle glowing gold, Fire Elemental Shield Glowing Red etc.
